Leviticus 11
1 After, the Lord spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying vnto them,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron, en leur disant:
2 Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say, These are the beastes which yee shall eate, among all the beasts that are on the earth.
"Parlez ainsi aux enfants d’Israël: voici les animaux que vous pouvez manger, entre tous les quadrupèdes qui vivent sur la terre:
3 Whatsoeuer parteth the hoofe, and is clouen footed, and cheweth the cudde, among the beastes, that shall ye eate.
tout ce qui a le pied corné et divisé en deux ongles, parmi les animaux ruminants, vous pouvez le manger.
4 But of them that chewe the cud, or deuide the hoofe onely, of them yee shall not eate: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, and deuideth not ye hoofe, he shall be vncleane vnto you.
Quant aux suivants, qui ruminent ou qui ont le pied corné, vous n’en mangerez point: le chameau, parce qu’il rumine mais n’a point le pied corné: il sera immonde pour vous;
5 Likewise the conie, because he cheweth the cud and deuideth not the hoofe, he shall bee vncleane to you.
la gerboise, parce qu’elle rumine, mais n’a point le pied corné: elle sera immonde pour vous;
6 Also the hare, because he cheweth the cud, and deuideth not the hoofe, he shalbe vncleane to you.
le lièvre, parce qu’il rumine, mais n’a point le pied corné: il sera immonde pour vous;
7 And the swine, because he parteth ye hoofe and is clouen footed, but cheweth not the cud, he shalbe vncleane to you.
le porc, qui a bien le pied corné, qui a même le sabot bifurqué, mais qui ne rumine point: il sera immonde pour vous.
8 Of their flesh shall yee not eate, and their carkeise shall yee not touch: for they shall bee vncleane to you.
Vous ne mangerez point de leur chair, et vous ne toucherez point à leur cadavre: ils sont immondes pour vous.
9 These shall ye eate, of all that are in the waters: whatsoeuer hath finnes and skales in ye waters, in the seas, or in the riuers, them shall ye eate.
Voici ce que vous pouvez manger des divers animaux aquatiques: tout ce qui, dans les eaux, mers ou rivières, est pourvu de nageoires et d’écailles, vous pouvez en manger.
10 But all that haue not finnes nor skales in the seas, or in the riuers, of all that moueth in the waters, and of al liuing things that are in the waters, they shalbe an abomination vnto you.
Mais tout ce qui n’est pas pourvu de nageoires et d’écailles, dans les mers ou les rivières, soit ce qui pullule dans l’eau, soit les animaux qui l’habitent, ils vous sont abominables,
11 They, I say, shalbe an abomination to you: ye shall not eate of their flesh, but shall abhorre their carkeis.
abominables ils resteront pour vous: ne mangez point de leur chair, et ayez leurs cadavres en abomination.
12 Whatsoeuer hath not fins nor skales in the waters, that shalbe abomination vnto you.
Tout ce qui, dans les eaux, est privé de nageoires et d’écailles, vous sera une abomination.
13 These shall ye haue also in abomination among the foules, they shall not be eaten: for they are an abomination, the eagle, and the goshauke, and the osprey:
Et voici, parmi les oiseaux, ceux que vous repousserez; on ne les mangera point, ils sont abominables: l’aigle, l’orfraie, la vallérie;
14 Also the vultur, and the kite after his kinde,
le faucon et le vautour selon ses espèces;
15 And all rauens after their kinde:
tous les corbeaux selon leurs espèces;
16 The ostrich also, and the night crowe, and the seameaw, and the hauke after his kinde:
l’autruche, l’hirondelle, la mouette, l’épervier selon ses espèces;
17 The litle owle also, and the connorant, and the great owle.
le hibou, le cormoran, la hulotte;
18 Also the redshanke and the pelicane, and the swanne:
le porphyrion, le pélican, le percnoptère;
19 The storke also, the heron after his kinde, and the lapwing, and the backe:
la cigogne, le héron selon ses espèces, le tétras et la chauve-souris.
20 Also euery foule that creepeth and goeth vpon all foure, such shalbe an abomination vnto you.
Tout insecte ailé qui marche sur quatre pieds vous sera une abomination.
21 Yet these shall ye eate: of euery foule that creepeth, and goeth vpon all foure which haue their feete and legs all of one to leape withal vpon the earth,
Toutefois, vous pourrez manger, parmi les insectes ailés marchant sur quatre pieds, celui qui a au-dessus de ses pieds des articulations au moyen desquelles il saute sur la terre.
22 Of them ye shall eate these, the grashopper after his kinde, and the solean after his kinde, the hargol after his kinde, and the hagab after his kind.
Vous pouvez donc manger les suivants: l’arbé selon ses espèces, le solam selon les siennes, le hargol selon ses espèces et le hagab selon les siennes.
23 But al other foules that creepe and haue foure feete, they shalbe abomination vnto you.
Mais tout autre insecte ailé qui a quatre pieds, sera pour vous chose abominable.
24 For by such ye shalbe polluted: whosoeuer toucheth their carkeis, shalbe vncleane vnto the euening.
Ceux qui suivent vous rendront impurs; quiconque touchera à leur cadavre sera souillé jusqu’au soir,
25 Whosoeuer also beareth of their carkeis, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntil euen.
et qui transportera quoi que ce soit de leur cadavre lavera ses vêtements, et restera souillé jusqu’au soir:
26 Euery beast that hath clawes deuided, and is not clouen footed, nor cheweth the cud, such shalbe vncleane vnto you: euery one that toucheth them, shalbe vncleane.
tout quadrupède qui a l’ongle divisé mais non fourché, ou qui ne rumine point, ceux-là sont impurs pour vous: quiconque y touchera sera souillé.
27 And whatsoeuer goeth vpon his pawes among all maner beastes that goeth on all foure, such shalbe vncleane vnto you: who so doth touch their carkeis shalbe vncleane vntil the euen.
Tous ceux d’entre les animaux quadrupèdes qui marchent à l’aide de pattes, sont impurs pour vous: quiconque touche à leur cadavre sera souillé jusqu’au soir,
28 And he that beareth their carkeis, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntill the euen: for such shalbe vncleane vnto you.
et qui transportera leur cadavre doit laver ses vêtements et rester souillé jusqu’au soir. Ils sont impurs pour vous.
29 Also these shalbe vncleane to you amog the things that creepe and moue vpon the earth, the weasell, and the mouse, and the frog, after his kinde:
Voici ceux que vous tiendrez pour impurs, parmi les reptiles qui se traînent sur la terre: la taupe, le rat, le lézard selon ses espèces;
30 Also the rat, and the lizard, and the chameleon, and the stellio, and the molle.
le hérisson, le crocodile, la salamandre, la limace et le caméléon.
31 These shall be vncleane to you among all that creepe: whosoeuer doeth touch them when they be dead, shalbe vncleane vntil the euen.
Ceux-là sont impurs pour vous entre tous les reptiles: quiconque les touchera après leur mort sera souillé jusqu’au soir.
32 Also whatsoeuer any of the dead carkeises of them doth fall vpon, shalbe vncleane, whether it be vessel of wood, or rayment, or skinne, or sacke: whatsoeuer vessel it be that is occupied, it shalbe put in the water as vncleane vntil the euen, and so be purified.
Tout objet sur lequel il en tomberait quelque chose après leur mort, deviendrait impur: soit ustensile de bois, soit vêtement, peau ou sac, tout objet destiné à un usage quelconque. II doit être passé dans l’eau, restera souillé jusqu’au soir, et alors deviendra pur.
33 But euery earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoeuer is within it shalbe vncleane, and ye shall breake it.
Que s’il en tombe quelque chose dans l’intérieur d’un vase d’argile, tout son contenu sera souillé, et le vaisseau, vous le briserez.
34 Al meate also that shalbe eaten, if any such water come vpon it, shalbe vncleane: and all drinke that shalbe drunke in al such vessels shalbe vncleane.
Tout aliment dont on se nourrit, une fois que l’eau l’aura touché, sera susceptible de souillure; toute liqueur potable sera susceptible de souillure dans un vase quelconque.
35 And euery thing that their carkeis fall vpon, shalbe vncleane: the fornais or the pot shalbe broken: for they are vncleane, and shalbe vncleane vnto you.
Tout objet sur lequel il sera tombé quelque chose de leur cadavre, sera souillé; fût-ce un four ou un fourneau, il sera mis en pièces. Ils sont impurs, impurs ils resteront pour vous.
36 Yet the fountaines and welles where there is plentie of water shalbe cleane: but that which toucheth their carkeises shalbe vncleane.
Toutefois, une source ou une citerne contenant une masse d’eau restera pure; mais ce qui touchera au cadavre sera souillé.
37 And if there fal of their dead carkeis vpon any seede, which vseth to be sowe, it shalbe cleane.
S’Il tombe de leur cadavre sur une semence végétale quelconque que l’on sème, elle restera pure.
38 But if any water be powred vpon ye seede, and there fal of their dead carkeis thereon, it shall be vncleane vnto you.
Mais si de l’eau a été jetée sur un végétal, et qu’il y tombe quelque chose de leur cadavre, il sera souillé pour vous.
39 If also any beast, whereof ye may eate, die, he that toucheth the carkeis thereof shall be vncleane vntil the euen.
Si l’un des animaux que vous pouvez manger vient à mourir, celui qui touchera à son cadavre sera souillé jusqu’au soir.
40 And he that eateth of the carkeis of it, shall wash his clothes and be vncleane vntil the euen: he also that beareth the carkeis of it, shall wash his clothes, and be vncleane vntil the euen.
Celui qui mangera de cette chair morte lavera ses vêtements, et restera souillé jusqu’au soir; celui qui la transportera lavera ses vêtements, et restera souillé jusqu’au soir.
41 Euery creeping thing therefore that creepeth vpon the earth shalbe an abomination, and not be eaten.
Tout reptile, qui se traîne sur le sol, est chose abominable on n’en doit pas manger.
42 Whatsoeuer goeth vpon the breast, and whatsoeuer goeth vpon al foure, or that hath many feete among all creeping thinges that creepe vpon the earth, ye shall not eate of them, for they shalbe abomination.
Tout ce qui se traîne sur le ventre, ou se meut soit sur quatre pieds, soit sur un plus grand nombre de pieds, parmi les reptiles quelconques rampant sur le sol, vous n’en mangerez point, car ce sont choses abominables.
43 Ye shall not pollute your selues with any thing that creepeth, neither make your selues vncleane with them, neither defile your selues thereby: ye shall not, I say, be defiled by them,
Ne vous rendez point vous-mêmes abominables par toutes ces créatures rampantes; ne vous souillez point par elles, vous en contracteriez la souillure.
44 For I am the Lord your God: be sanctified therefore, and be holy, for I am holy, and defile not your selues with any creeping thing, that creepeth vpon the earth.
Car je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu; vous devez donc vous sanctifier et rester saints, parce que je suis saint, et ne point contaminer vos personnes par tous ces reptiles qui se meuvent sur la terre.
45 For I am the Lord that brought you out of the lande of Egypt, to be your God, and that you should be holy, for I am holy.
Car je suis l’Éternel, qui vous ai tirés du pays d’Egypte pour être votre Dieu; et vous serez saints, parce que je suis saint.
46 This is the law of beasts, and of foules, and of euery liuing thing that moueth in the waters, and of euery thing that creepeth vpon the earth:
Telle est la doctrine relative aux quadrupèdes, aux volatiles, à tous les êtres animés qui se meuvent dans les eaux, et à tous ceux qui rampent sur la terre;
47 That there may be a difference betweene the vncleane and cleane, and betweene the beast that may be eaten, and the beast that ought not to be eaten.
afin qu’on distingue l’impur d’avec le pur, et l’animal qui peut être mangé de celui qu’on ne doit pas manger."
