Leviticus 10
1 But Nadab and Abihu, the sonnes of Aaron, tooke either of them his censor, and put fire therein, and put incense thereupon, and offred strange fire before the Lord, which hee had not commanded them.
Alors Nadab et Abiu ayant pris les encensoirs, mirent du feu et de l’encens dessus, offrant devant le Seigneur un feu étranger; ce qui ne leur avait pas été ordonné.
2 Therefore a fire went out from the Lord, and deuoured them: so they dyed before the Lord.
Et un feu sorti du Seigneur les dévora, et ils moururent devant le Seigneur.
3 Then Moses sayde vnto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will bee sanctified in the that come neere me, and before all the people I will be glorified: but Aaron held his peace.
Et Moïse dit à Aaron: Voilà ce qu’a dit le Seigneur: Je serai sanctifié dans ceux qui m’approchent, et je serai glorifié devant tout le peuple. Ce qu’entendant, Aaron se tut.
4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan the sonnes of Vzziel, the vncle of Aaron, and saide vnto them, Come neere, cary your brethre from before the Sanctuarie out of the hoste.
Or, Moïse ayant appelé Misaël et Elisaphan fils d’Oziel, oncle d’Aaron, leur dit: Allez et prenez vos frères de devant le sanctuaire, et emportez-les hors du camp.
5 Then they went, and caried them in their coates out of the host, as Moses had comaunded.
Et aussitôt allant, il les prient, comme ils gisaient, vêtus de leurs tuniques de lin, et ils les jetèrent dehors, comme il leur avait été commandé.
6 After, Moses saide vnto Aaron and vnto Eleazar and Ithamar his sonnes, Vncouer not your heads, neither rent your clothes, least ye dye, and least wrath come vpon all ye people: but let your brethren, all the house of Israel bewayle the burning which the Lord hath kindled.
Alors Moïse dit à Aaron, et à Eléazar et à Ithamar ses fils: Ne découvrez pas vos têtes, et ne déchirez pas vos vêtements, de peur que vous ne mouriez, et que l’indignation ne s’élève contre toute l’assemblée. Que vos frères et toute la maison d’Israël pleurent l’incendie que le Seigneur a suscité;
7 And go not yee out from the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, least ye dye: for the anointing oyle of the Lord is vpon you: and they did according to Moses commandement.
Mais vous, vous ne sortirez peint de la porte du tabernacle; autrement vous périrez; car l’huile de la sainte onction est sur vous. Ceux-ci firent tout selon l’ordre de Moïse.
8 And the Lord spake vnto Aaron, saying,
Le Seigneur dit aussi à Aaron:
9 Thou shalt not drinke wine nor strong drinke, thou, nor thy sonnes with thee, when yee come into the Tabernacle of the Congregation, lest ye die: this is an ordinance for euer throughout your generations,
Vous ne boirez point de vin et de tout ce qui peut enivrer, toi et tes fils, quand vous entrerez dans le tabernacle de témoignage, de peur que vous ne mouriez; parce que c’est un précepte perpétuel pour vos générations,
10 That ye may put difference betweene the holy and the vnholy, and betweene the cleane and the vncleane,
Et afin que vous ayez la science de discerner entre le saint et le profane, entre ce qui est souillé et ce qui est pur,
11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath commanded them by the hand of Moses.
Et que vous enseigniez aux enfants d’Israël tout ce qui concerne mes lois que le Seigneur a proclamées par l’entremise de Moïse.
12 Then Moses saide vnto Aaron and vnto Eleazar and to Ithamar his sonnes that were left, Take the meate offring that remaineth of the offrings of the Lord, made by fire, and eate it without leauen beside ye altar: for it is most holy:
Moïse dit alors à Aaron, à Eléazar et à Ithamar, ses fils qui lui étaient restés: Prenez le sacrifice qui est resté de l’oblation du Seigneur, et mangez-le sans levain près de l’autel, parce que c’est une chose très sainte.
13 And ye shall eate it in the holy place, because it is thy duetie and thy sonnes duety of the offringes of the Lord made by fire: for so I am commanded.
Or, vous le mangerez dans un lieu saint, parce qu’il vous a été donné, à toi et à tes fils, des oblations du Seigneur, comme il m’a été ordonné.
14 Also the shaken breast and the heaue shoulder shall yee eate in a cleane place: thou, and thy sonnes, and thy daughters with thee: for they are giuen as thy duetie and thy sonnes duety, of the peace offringes of the children of Israel.
La poitrine aussi qui a été offerte, et l’épaule qui a été séparée, vous les mangerez dans un lieu très pur, toi et tes fils et tes filles avec toi; car c’est pour toi et pour tes enfants qu’elles ont été réservées, des hosties salutaires des enfants d’Israël;
15 The heaue shoulder, and the shaken breast shall they bring with the offringes made by fire of the fat, to shake it to and from before the Lord, and it shalbe thine and thy sonnes with thee by a lawe for euer, as the Lord hath commanded.
Parce qu’ils ont élevé devant le Seigneur l’épaule, la poitrine et les graisses qui sont brûlées sur l’autel, et qu’elles t’appartiennent à toi et à tes fils par une loi perpétuelle, comme a ordonné le Seigneur.
16 And Moses sought the goate that was offred for sinne, and lo, it was burnt: therefore he was angrie with Eleazar and Ithamar the sonnes of Aaron, which were left aliue, saying,
Cependant, comme Moïse cherchait le bouc qui avait été offert pour le péché, il le trouva entièrement brûlé; or, irrité contre Eléazar et Ithamar, fils d’Aaron, qui lui étaient restés, il dit:
17 Wherfore haue ye not eaten the sinne offring in the holy place, seeing it is most Holie? and God hath giuen it you, to beare the iniquitie of the Congregation, to make an atonement for them before the Lord.
Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas mangé dans le lieu saint l’hostie pour le péché, qui est très sainte, et qui vous a été donnée, afin que vous portiez l’iniquité de la multitude, et que vous priiez pour elle en la présence du Seigneur,
18 Beholde, the blood of it was not brought within the holy place: ye should haue eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.
Surtout puisqu’on n’a pas porté de son sang dans les lieux saints, et que vous auriez dû la manger dans le sanctuaire comme il m’a été ordonné?
19 And Aaron said vnto Moses, Behold, this day haue they offred their sinne offring, and their burnt offring before the Lord, and such things as thou knowest are come vnto mee: If I had eaten the sinne offring to day, should it haue bene accepted in the sight of the Lord?
Aaron répondit: La victime pour le péché a été offerte aujourd’hui, et l’holocauste devant le Seigneur; mais pour moi, il m’est arrivé ce que tu vois. Comment aurais-je pu la manger, ou plaire au Seigneur dans les cérémonies, avec un esprit profondément affligé?
20 So when Moses heard it, he was content.
Ce qu’ayant entendu Moïse, il reçut son excuse.
