Lamentations 3
1 I am the man, that hath seene affliction in the rod of his indignation.
Soy el hombre que ha experimentado el sufrimiento bajo la vara de la ira de Dios.
2 He hath ledde mee, and brought me into darkenes, but not to light.
Me ha alejado, obligándome a caminar en las tinieblas en lugar de la luz.
3 Surely he is turned against me: he turneth his hand against me all the day.
De hechome golpea una y otra vez todo el día.
4 My flesh and my skinne hath he caused to waxe olde, and he hath broken my bones.
Me ha desgastado; me ha hecho pedazos.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall, and labour.
Me ha asediado, rodeándome de amargura y miseria.
6 He hath set me in darke places, as they that be dead for euer.
Me ha obligado a vivir en las tinieblas, como los muertos desde hace tiempo.
7 He hath hedged about mee, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chaines heauy.
Ha levantado un muro a mi alrededor para que no pueda escapar; me ha atado con pesadas cadenas.
8 Also when I cry and showte, hee shutteth out my prayer.
Aunque siga clamando por ayuda, se niega a escuchar mi oración.
9 He hath stopped vp my wayes with hewen stone, and turned away my paths.
Ha puesto piedras en mi camino y me envía por senderos torcidos.
10 He was vnto me as a beare lying in waite, and as a Lion in secret places.
Es un oso que me acecha, un león escondido listo para atacar,
11 He hath stopped my wayes, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
Me arrastró de mi camino y me hizo pedazos, dejándome indefenso.
12 He hath bent his bow and made me a marke for the arrow.
Cargó su arco con una flecha y me usó como blanco,
13 Hee caused the arrowes of his quiuer to enter into my reines.
Me disparó en los riñones con sus flechas.
14 I was a derision to all my people, and their song all the day.
Ahora todos se ríen de mí, cantando canciones que se burlan de mí todo el día.
15 He hath filled me with bitternes, and made me drunken with wormewood.
Me ha llenado de amargura; me ha llenado de amargo ajenjo.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with stones, and hath couered me with ashes.
Me ha roto los dientes con arenilla; me ha pisoteado en el polvo.
17 Thus my soule was farre off from peace: I forgate prosperitie,
Me ha arrancado la paz; he olvidado todo lo bueno de la vida.
18 And I saide, My strength and mine hope is perished from the Lord,
Por eso digo: Mi expectativa de una larga vida ha desaparecido, junto con todo lo que esperaba del Señor.
19 Remembring mine affliction, and my mourning, the wormewood and the gall.
No olvides todo lo que he sufrido en mi agonía, tan amargo como el ajenjo y el veneno.
20 My soule hath them in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
Ciertamente no lo he olvidado. Lo recuerdo demasiado bien, por eso me hundo en la depresión.
21 I consider this in mine heart: therefore haue I hope.
Pero aún tengo esperanza cuando pienso en esto:
22 It is the Lordes mercies that wee are not consumed, because his compassions faile not.
Es por el amor fiel del Señor que nuestras vidas no están destruidas, pues con sus actos de misericordia nunca nos abandona.
23 They are renued euery morning: great is thy faithfulnesse.
Él los renueva cada mañana. ¡Qué maravillosamente fiel eres, Señor!
24 The Lord is my portion, sayth my soule: therefore wil I hope in him.
El Señor es todo lo que necesito, me digo a mí mismo: Pondré mi esperanza en él.
25 The Lord is good vnto them, that trust in him, and to the soule that seeketh him.
El Señor es bueno con los que confían en él, con cualquiera que lo siga.
26 It is good both to trust, and to waite for the saluation of the Lord.
Es bueno esperar tranquilamente la salvación del Señor.
27 It is good for a man that he beare the yoke in his youth.
Es bueno que el ser humano aprenda a soportar con paciencia la disciplina mientras es joven.
28 He sitteth alone, and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it vpon him.
Debe sentarse solos en silencio, porque es Dios quien lo ha disciplinado.
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust, if there may be hope.
Debe inclinarse con el rostro hacia el suelo, porque aún puede haber esperanza.
30 Hee giueth his cheeke to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproches.
Debe poner la mejilla a quien quiera abofetearlos; debe aceptar los insultos de los demás.
31 For the Lord will not forsake for euer.
Porque el Señor no nos abandonará para siempre.
32 But though he sende affliction, yet will he haue compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
Aunque nos venga la tristeza, él nos muestra misericordia porque su amor fiel es muy grande.
33 For he doeth not punish willingly, nor afflict the children of men,
Porque no quiere herir ni causarle dolor a ninguno.
34 In stamping vnder his feete all the prisoners of the earth,
Ya sea que alguien maltrate a todos los prisioneros de la tierra
35 In ouerthrowing the right of a man before the face of the most high,
Ole niegue a alguien sus derechos mientras el Altísimo lo ve,
36 In subuerting a man in his cause: the Lord seeth it not.
O sea que alguien engañe a otro en su caso legal, estas son cosas el Señor noaprueba.
37 Who is he then that sayth, and it commeth to passe, and the Lord commandeth it not?
¿Quién habló y llegó a existir? ¿No fue el Señor quien lo ordenó?
38 Out of the mouth of the most high proceedeth not euill and good?
Cuando el Altísimo habla puede ser para un desastre o para una bendición.
39 Wherefore then is the liuing man sorowfull? man suffreth for his sinne.
¿Por qué habría de quejarse un ser humano de las consecuencias de sus pecados?
40 Let vs search and try our wayes, and turne againe to the Lord.
Debemos mirarnos a nosotros mismos, examinar nuestros actos y volver al Señor.
41 Let vs lift vp our hearts with our handes vnto God in the heauens.
No nos limitemos a levantar la mano a Dios hacia el cielo, sino nuestra mente también, y digamos:
42 We haue sinned, and haue rebelled, therefore thou hast not spared.
“Nosotros somos pecadores; nosotros somos rebeldes ¡y tú no nos has perdonado!”
43 Thou hast couered vs with wrath, and persecuted vs: thou hast slaine and not spared.
Te has envuelto en ira y nos has perseguido, matándonos sin piedad. Has destruido sin piedad.
44 Thou hast couered thy selfe with a cloude, that our prayer should not passe through.
Te has envuelto en una nube que ninguna oración puede penetrar.
45 Thou hast made vs as the ofscouring and refuse in the middes of the people.
Nos has convertido en residuos y desechos para las naciones de alrededor.
46 All our enemies haue opened their mouth against vs.
Todos nuestros enemigos abren la boca para criticarnos.
47 Feare, and a snare is come vpon vs with desolation and destruction.
Estamos aterrorizados y atrapados, devastados y destruidos.
48 Mine eye casteth out riuers of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Las lágrimas brotan de mis ojos por la muerte de mi pueblo.
49 Mine eye droppeth without stay and ceaseth not,
Mis ojos rebosan de lágrimas todo el tiempo. No se detendrán
50 Till the Lord looke downe, and beholde from heauen.
Hasta que el Señor mire desde el cielo y vea lo que pasa.
51 Mine eye breaketh mine heart because of all the daughters of my citie.
Lo que he visto me atormenta por lo que ha sucedido a todas las mujeres de mi ciudad.
52 Mine enemies chased me sore like a birde, without cause.
Sin razón alguna mis enemigos me atraparon como a un pájaro.
53 They haue shut vp my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone vpon me.
Intentaron matarme arrojándome a un pozo y tirándome piedras.
54 Waters flowed ouer mine head, then thought I, I am destroyed.
El agua me inundó hastala cabeza, y pensé que moriría.
55 I called vpon thy Name, O Lord, out of the lowe dungeon.
Desde lo más profundo de la fosa te llamé, Señor.
56 Thou hast heard my voyce: stoppe not thine eare from my sigh and from my cry.
Tú me oíste cuando oré: “Por favor, no ignores mi grito de auxilio”.
57 Thou drewest neere in the day that I called vpon thee: thou saydest, Feare not.
Viniste a mí cuando te llamé, y me dijiste: “¡No tengas miedo!”
58 O Lord, thou hast maintained the cause of my soule, and hast redeemed my life.
¡Has tomado mi caso y me has defendido; has salvado mi vida!
59 O Lord, thou hast seene my wrong, iudge thou my cause.
Señor, tú has visto las injusticias que se han cometido contra mí; ¡Defiéndeme, por favor!
60 Thou hast seene all their vengeance, and all their deuises against me.
Has observado lo vengativos que son y las veces que han conspirado contra mí.
61 Thou hast heard their reproch, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me:
Señor, tú has oído cómo me han insultado y lo que han tramado contra mí,
62 The lippes also of those that rose against me, and their whispering against me continually.
¡Cómo mis enemigos hablan contra mí y se quejan de mí todo el tiempo!
63 Behold, their sitting downe and their rising vp, how I am their song.
¡Mira! Ya sea que estén sentados o de pie, siguen burlándose de mí en sus canciones.
64 Giue them a recompence, O Lord, according to the worke of their handes.
¡Págales como se merecen, Señor, por todo lo que han hecho!
65 Giue them sorow of heart, euen thy curse to them.
Dales algo para que sus mentes queden cubiertas! ¡Que tu maldición caiga sobre ellos!
66 Persecute with wrath and destroy them from vnder the heauen, O Lord.
Persíguelos en tu cólera, Señor, y deshazte de ellos de la tierra!
