Judges 7
1 Then Ierubbaal (who is Gideon) rose vp early, and all the people that were with him, and pitched beside the well of Harod, so that the hoste of the Midianites was on the Northside of them in the valley by the hill of Moreh.
Jerub-baal (Gedeón) y los que estaban con él se levantaron temprano y fueron a acampar junto a la fuente de Jarod. El campamento madianita estaba al norte, en el valle cercano a la colina de Moré.
2 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people that are with thee, are too many for me to giue the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel make their vaunt against me, and say, Mine hand hath saued mee.
El Señor le dijo a Gedeón: “Hay demasiados soldados contigo para que les entregue a los madianitas, pues de lo contrario Israel se jactará ante mí diciendo: ‘Me salvé con mis propias fuerzas’.
3 Now therefore proclaime in the audience of the people, and say, Who so is timerous or fearefull, let him returne, and depart earely from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people which were at mount Gilead, two and twentie thousand: so ten thousand remayned.
Así que dile a los soldados: ‘Cualquiera que esté preocupado o tenga miedo puede abandonar el monte Galaad y volver a su casa’”. Veintidós mil de ellos volvieron a casa, pero diez mil se quedaron.
4 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people are yet too many: bring them downe vnto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and of whome I say vnto thee, This man shall goe with thee, the same shall go with thee: and of whomsoeuer I say vnto thee, This man shall not goe with thee, the same shall not go.
Entonces el Señor le dijo a Gedeón: “Todavía hay demasiados soldados. Llévalos al agua y yo los reduciré por ti. El que yo te diga: ‘Irá contigo’, irá. Pero el que te diga: ‘No irá contigo’, no irá”.
5 So he brought downe the people vnto the water. And the Lord sayd vnto Gideon, As many as lap the water with their tongues, as a dog lappeth, them put by themselues, and euery one that shall bow downe his knees to drinke, put apart.
Gedeón llevó a los soldados al agua. El Señor le dijo a Gedeón: “Pongan a un lado a los que lamen el agua con la lengua, como hace un perro, y al otro lado a los que se arrodillen para beber”.
6 And the nomber of them that lapped by putting their handes to their mouthes, were three hundreth men: but all the remnant of the people kneeled downe vpon their knees to drinke water.
Trescientos lamieron el agua de sus manos a la boca. Todos los demás se arrodillaron para beber el agua.
7 Then the Lord sayde vnto Gideon, By these three hundreth men that lapped, will I saue you, and deliuer the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go euery man vnto his place.
El Señor le dijo a Gedeón: “Con estos trescientos hombres que lamieron te salvaré y te entregaré a los madianitas. Deja que el resto de los soldados se vaya a casa”.
8 So the people tooke vitailes with them, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel, euery man vnto his tent, and reteined the three hundreth men: and the hoste of Midian was beneath him in a valley.
Los trescientos se hicieron cargo de las provisiones y las trompetas de los demás. Gedeón envió a todo el resto a casa, pero se quedó con los trescientos hombres. El campamento madianita estaba debajo de él en el valle.
9 And the same night the Lord sayde vnto him, Arise, get thee downe vnto the hoste: for I haue deliuered it into thine hand.
Esa noche el Señor le habló a Gedeón: “Levántate, baja y ataca el campamento, porque te lo he entregado.
10 But if thou feare to go downe, then go thou, and Phurah thy seruant downe to the hoste,
Pero si tienes miedo de bajar, ve con tu siervo Furá al campamento.
11 And thou shalt hearken what they say, and so shall thine handes be strong to go downe vnto the hoste. Then went he downe and Phurah his seruant vnto the outside of the souldiers that were in the hoste.
Oirás lo que hablan y entonces tendrás el valor de atacar el campamento”. Así que tomó a su siervo Furá con él y se dirigió al borde del campamento, donde había hombres armados de guardia.
12 And the Midianites, and the Amalekites and all they of the East, lay in the valley like grashoppers in multitude, and their camels were without nomber, as the sande which is by the sea side for multitude.
Los madianitas, los amalecitas y todos los pueblos de Oriente llenaban el valle como una nube de langostas, y en cuanto a sus camellos, eran tan incontables como la arena de la orilla del mar.
13 And when Gideon was come, beholde, a man tolde a dreame vnto his neighbour, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dreame, and lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled from aboue into the hoste of Midian, and came vnto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and ouerturned it, that the tent fell downe.
Justo cuando llegó Gedeón, un hombre le contaba a su amigo un sueño que había tenido. Decía: “He tenido este sueño. Soñé que veía una hogaza redonda de pan de cebada llegar rodando al campamento madianita. Golpeaba una tienda de campaña y la ponía patas arriba, en el suelo”.
14 And his fellow answered, and sayde, This is nothing els saue the sworde of Gideon the sonne of Ioash a man of Israel: for into his hande hath God deliuered Midian and all the hoste.
“Esto sólo puede representar la victoria por la espada de Gedeón, hijo de Joás, un hombre de Israel”, respondió su amigo. “Dios le ha entregado a los madianitas y a todos los que están acampados aquí”.
15 When Gideon heard the dreame tolde, and the interpretation of the same, he worshipped, and returned vnto the hoste of Israel, and said, Vp: for the Lord hath deliuered into your hande the hoste of Midian.
Cuando Gedeón escuchó el sueño y lo que significaba, se inclinó en señal de agradecimiento a Dios. Volvió al campamento israelita y anunció: “¡De pie! Porque el Señor te ha entregado el campamento madianita”.
16 And hee deuided the three hundreth men into three bandes, and gaue euery man a trumpet in his hande with emptie pitchers, and lampes within the pitchers.
Dividió a los trescientos hombres en tres compañías. A todos les entregó trompetas y jarras vacías con antorchas en su interior.
17 And he sayd vnto them, Looke on me, and do likewise, when I come to the side of the hoste: euen as I do, so do you.
“Observadme y seguid mi ejemplo”, les dijo. “Cuando llegue al límite del campamento, haced exactamente lo que yo haga.
18 When I blowe with a trumpet and all that are with me, blowe ye with trumpets also on euery side of the hoste, and say, For the Lord, and for Gideon.
Inmediatamente, yo y los que están conmigo tocaremos las trompetas, y luego ustedes tocarán sus trompetas desde todo el campamento y gritarán: ‘¡Por el Señor y por Gedeón!’”
19 So Gideon and the hundreth men that were with him, came vnto the outside of the hoste, in the beginning of the middle watche, and they raised vp the watchmen, and they blew with their trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their handes.
Gedeón y los cien hombres que lo acompañaban llegaron a las afueras del campamento alrededor de la medianoche, después de que se cambiaron los guardias. Hicieron sonar sus trompetas y rompieron las jarras que llevaban.
20 And the three companies blew with trumpets and brake the pitchers, and helde the lampes in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right. handes to blowe withall: and they cryed, The sword of the Lord and of Gideon.
Las tres compañías tocaron sus trompetas y rompieron sus jarras. Tenían las antorchas en la mano izquierda y las trompetas en la derecha, y gritaban: “¡Una espada para el Señor y para Gedeón!”
21 And they stoode, euery man in his place round about the hoste: and all the hoste ranne, and cryed, and fled.
Cada uno se puso en su lugar rodeando el campamento, y todos los soldados enemigos corrieron gritando; luego huyeron.
22 And the three hundreth blewe with trumpets, and the Lord set euery mans sworde vpon his neighbour, and vpon all the hoste: so the hoste fled to Beth-hashittah in Zererah, and to the border of Abel-meholah, vnto Tabbath.
Cuando tocaron las trescientas trompetas, el Señor hizo que todos los hombres del campamento se atacaran unos a otros con sus espadas. El ejército enemigo huyó hacia Bet Shitá, cerca de Zererá, hasta la frontera de Abel Meholá, cerca de Tabbá.
23 Then the men of Israel being gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, pursued after the Midianites.
Los soldados israelitas fueron convocados desde Neftalí, Aser y todo Manasés, y persiguieron a los madianitas.
24 And Gideon sent messengers vnto all mount Ephraim, saying, Come downe against the Midianites, and take before them the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and tooke the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden.
Gedeón envió mensajeros por toda la región montañosa de Efraín diciendo: “Vengan a atacar a los madianitas y tomen el control de los vados del Jordán delante de ellos hasta Bet-Bara”. Así que todos los hombres de Efraín fueron convocados, y tomaron el control de los vados del Jordán hasta Bet-Bara.
25 And they tooke two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb vpon the rocke Oreb, and slewe Zeeb at the winepresse of Zeeb, and pursued the Midianites, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyonde Iorden.
También capturaron a Oreb y Zeeb, dos de los comandantes madianitas. Mataron a Oreb en la roca de Oreb, y a Zeeb en el lagar de Zeeb. Siguieron persiguiendo a los madianitas y llevaron las cabezas de Oreb y Zeeb a Gedeón, que estaba al otro lado del Jordán.
