Judges 7
1 Then Ierubbaal (who is Gideon) rose vp early, and all the people that were with him, and pitched beside the well of Harod, so that the hoste of the Midianites was on the Northside of them in the valley by the hill of Moreh.
Levantando-se, pois, de manhã Jerubaal, o qual é Gideão, e todo aquele povo que estava com ele, assentaram o acampamento junto à fonte de Harode: e tinha o acampamento dos midianitas ao norte, da outra parte do morro de Moré, no vale.
2 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people that are with thee, are too many for me to giue the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel make their vaunt against me, and say, Mine hand hath saued mee.
E o SENHOR disse a Gideão: O povo que está contigo é muito para que eu dê aos midianitas em sua mão: para que não se glorie Israel contra mim, dizendo: Minha mão me salvou.
3 Now therefore proclaime in the audience of the people, and say, Who so is timerous or fearefull, let him returne, and depart earely from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people which were at mount Gilead, two and twentie thousand: so ten thousand remayned.
Agora, pois, proclama aos ouvidos do povo, dizendo: Aquele que teme e se estremece, volte e retire-se do monte de Gileade. E do povo voltaram vinte e dois mil; e restaram dez mil.
4 And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people are yet too many: bring them downe vnto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and of whome I say vnto thee, This man shall goe with thee, the same shall go with thee: and of whomsoeuer I say vnto thee, This man shall not goe with thee, the same shall not go.
E o SENHOR disse a Gideão: Ainda é muito o povo; leva-os às águas, e ali eu te os provarei; e do que eu te disser: Vá este contigo, vá contigo: mas de qualquer um que eu te disser: Este não vá contigo, o tal não vá.
5 So he brought downe the people vnto the water. And the Lord sayd vnto Gideon, As many as lap the water with their tongues, as a dog lappeth, them put by themselues, and euery one that shall bow downe his knees to drinke, put apart.
Então levou o povo às águas: e o SENHOR disse a Gideão: Qualquer um que lamber as águas com sua língua como lambe o cão, aquele porás à parte; também qualquer um que se dobrar sobre seus joelhos para beber.
6 And the nomber of them that lapped by putting their handes to their mouthes, were three hundreth men: but all the remnant of the people kneeled downe vpon their knees to drinke water.
E foi o número dos que lamberam as águas, achegando-a com a mão à boca, trezentos homens: e todo aquele resto do povo se dobrou sobre seus joelhos para beber as águas.
7 Then the Lord sayde vnto Gideon, By these three hundreth men that lapped, will I saue you, and deliuer the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go euery man vnto his place.
Então o SENHOR disse a Gideão: Com estes trezentos homens que lamberam o água vos salvarei, e entregarei aos midianitas em tuas mãos; e vá-se todo o resto do povo cada um a seu lugar.
8 So the people tooke vitailes with them, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel, euery man vnto his tent, and reteined the three hundreth men: and the hoste of Midian was beneath him in a valley.
Depois de tomarem a provisão do povo e suas trombetas, ele enviou todos os israelitas cada um a sua tenda, mas manteve aqueles trezentos homens; e o campo de Midiã estava no vale abaixo dele.
9 And the same night the Lord sayde vnto him, Arise, get thee downe vnto the hoste: for I haue deliuered it into thine hand.
E aconteceu que aquela noite o SENHOR lhe disse: Levanta-te, e desce ao acampamento; porque eu o entreguei em tuas mãos.
10 But if thou feare to go downe, then go thou, and Phurah thy seruant downe to the hoste,
E se temes descer para atacar, desce apenas tu e o teu servo Pura ao acampamento,
11 And thou shalt hearken what they say, and so shall thine handes be strong to go downe vnto the hoste. Then went he downe and Phurah his seruant vnto the outside of the souldiers that were in the hoste.
e ouvirás o que falam; e então tuas mãos se fortalecerão, e descerás para atacar o acampamento. E ele desceu com o seu servo Pura à extremidade dos homens armados que estavam no acampamento.
12 And the Midianites, and the Amalekites and all they of the East, lay in the valley like grashoppers in multitude, and their camels were without nomber, as the sande which is by the sea side for multitude.
E Midiã, e Amaleque, e todos os orientais, estavam estendidos no vale como gafanhotos em multidão, e seus camelos eram inúmeros, como a areia que está à beira do mar em multidão.
13 And when Gideon was come, beholde, a man tolde a dreame vnto his neighbour, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dreame, and lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled from aboue into the hoste of Midian, and came vnto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and ouerturned it, that the tent fell downe.
E logo que chegou Gideão, eis que um homem estava contando a seu companheiro um sonho, dizendo: Eis que eu sonhei um sonho: que via um pão de cevada que rodava até o acampamento de Midiã, e chegava às tendas, e as feria de tal maneira que caíam, e as virava de cima abaixo, e as tendas caíam.
14 And his fellow answered, and sayde, This is nothing els saue the sworde of Gideon the sonne of Ioash a man of Israel: for into his hande hath God deliuered Midian and all the hoste.
E seu companheiro respondeu, e disse: Isto não é outra coisa a não ser a espada de Gideão filho de Joás, homem de Israel: Deus entregou em suas mãos aos midianitas com todo o acampamento.
15 When Gideon heard the dreame tolde, and the interpretation of the same, he worshipped, and returned vnto the hoste of Israel, and said, Vp: for the Lord hath deliuered into your hande the hoste of Midian.
E quando Gideão ouviu a história do sonho e sua interpretação, adorou; e voltado ao acampamento de Israel, disse: Levantai-vos, que o SENHOR entregou o acampamento de Midiã em vossas mãos.
16 And hee deuided the three hundreth men into three bandes, and gaue euery man a trumpet in his hande with emptie pitchers, and lampes within the pitchers.
E repartindo os trezentos homens em três esquadrões, deu a cada um deles trombetas em suas mãos, e cântaros vazios com tochas ardendo dentro dos cântaros.
17 And he sayd vnto them, Looke on me, and do likewise, when I come to the side of the hoste: euen as I do, so do you.
E disse-lhes: Olhai a mim, e fazei como eu fizer; eis que quando eu chegar ao princípio do acampamento, como eu fizer, assim fareis vós.
18 When I blowe with a trumpet and all that are with me, blowe ye with trumpets also on euery side of the hoste, and say, For the Lord, and for Gideon.
Eu tocarei a trombeta e todos os que estiverem comigo; e vós tocareis então as trombetas ao redor de todo aquele campo, e direis: Pelo SENHOR e Gideão!
19 So Gideon and the hundreth men that were with him, came vnto the outside of the hoste, in the beginning of the middle watche, and they raised vp the watchmen, and they blew with their trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their handes.
Chegou, pois, Gideão, e os cem homens que levava consigo, ao princípio do acampamento, à entrada da vigília do meio, quando acabavam de renovar as sentinelas; e tocaram as trombetas, e quebraram os cântaros que levavam em suas mãos:
20 And the three companies blew with trumpets and brake the pitchers, and helde the lampes in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right. handes to blowe withall: and they cryed, The sword of the Lord and of Gideon.
E os três esquadrões tocaram as trombetas, e quebrando os cântaros tomaram nas mãos esquerdas as tochas, e nas direitas as trombetas com que tocavam, e deram grito: A espada do SENHOR e de Gideão!
21 And they stoode, euery man in his place round about the hoste: and all the hoste ranne, and cryed, and fled.
E estiveram em seus lugares em derredor do acampamento: e todo aquele acampamento foi alvoroçado, e fugiram gritando.
22 And the three hundreth blewe with trumpets, and the Lord set euery mans sworde vpon his neighbour, and vpon all the hoste: so the hoste fled to Beth-hashittah in Zererah, and to the border of Abel-meholah, vnto Tabbath.
Mas os trezentos tocavam as trombetas: e o SENHOR pôs a espada de cada um contra seu companheiro em todo aquele acampamento. E o exército fugiu até Bete-Sita, até Zererá, e até o termo de Abel-Meolá em Tabate.
23 Then the men of Israel being gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, pursued after the Midianites.
E juntando-se os de Israel, de Naftali, e de Aser, e de todo Manassés, seguiram aos midianitas.
24 And Gideon sent messengers vnto all mount Ephraim, saying, Come downe against the Midianites, and take before them the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and tooke the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden.
Gideão também enviou mensageiros a todo aquele monte de Efraim, dizendo: Descei ao encontro dos midianitas, e tomai-lhes as águas até Bete-Bara e o Jordão. E juntos todos os homens de Efraim, tomaram as águas de Bete-Bara e o Jordão.
25 And they tooke two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb vpon the rocke Oreb, and slewe Zeeb at the winepresse of Zeeb, and pursued the Midianites, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyonde Iorden.
E tomaram dois príncipes dos midianitas, Orebe e Zeebe: e mataram a Orebe na penha de Orebe, e a Zeebe o mataram na prensa de uvas de Zeebe; e depois que seguiram aos midianitas, trouxeram as cabeças de Orebe e de Zeebe a Gideão da outra parte do Jordão.
