Judges 20
1 Then all the children of Israel went out, and the Congregation was gathered together as one man, from Dan to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, vnto the Lord in Mizpeh.
Da zogen alle Kinder Israel aus, und die ganze Gemeinde, von Dan bis Beer-Seba und vom ganzen Lande Gilead, ward versammelt wie ein Mann, vor dem HERRN zu Mizpa.
2 And the chiefe of all the people, and all the tribes of Israel assembled in the Congregation of the people of God foure hundreth thousand footemen that drewe sword.
Und die Häupter des ganzen Volkes aus allen Stämmen Israels traten zusammen in der Versammlung des Volkes Gottes: vierhunderttausend Mann Fußvolk, die das Schwert zogen.
3 (Now the children of Beniamin heard that the children of Israel were gone vp to Mizpeh) Then the children of Israel saide, Howe is this wickednesse committed?
Aber die Kinder Benjamin hörten, daß die Kinder Israel gen Mizpa hinaufgezogen seien. Und die Kinder Israel sprachen: Sagt, wie ist diese Bosheit geschehen?
4 And the same Leuite, the womans husband that was slaine, answered and saide, I came vnto Gibeah that is in Beniamin with my concubine to lodge,
Da antwortete der Levit, der Mann des Weibes, das getötet worden war, und sprach: Ich kam mit meinem Kebsweibe gen Gibea in Benjamin, um daselbst über Nacht zu bleiben.
5 And the men of Gibeah arose against me, and beset the house round about vpon mee by night, thinking to haue slaine me, and haue forced my concubine that she is dead.
Da machten sich die Bürger von Gibea wider mich auf und umzingelten meinetwegen bei Nacht das Haus; mich gedachten sie zu töten, und mein Kebsweib haben sie geschändet, daß sie gestorben ist.
6 Then I tooke my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the countrey of the inheritance of Israel: for they haue committed abomination and villenie in Israel.
Da nahm ich mein Kebsweib und zerstückelte es und sandte die Stücke in das ganze Land des Erbes Israels, denn sie haben eine Schandtat und ein Verbrechen in Israel begangen.
7 Behold, ye are al children of Israel: giue your aduise, and counsell herein.
Seht, ihr alle, Kinder Israel, sprecht euch aus und beratet hier!
8 Then all the people arose as one man, saying, There shall not a man of vs goe to his tent, neither any turne into his house.
Da stand alles Volk auf wie ein Mann und sprach: Niemand von uns soll in seine Hütte gehen, noch in sein Haus heimkehren;
9 But now this is that thing which we will do to Gibeah: we wil goe vp by lot against it,
sondern das wollen wir jetzt wider Gibea tun: gegen sie [ausziehen] nach dem Los!
10 And we wil take ten men of the hundreth throughout al the tribes of Israel, and an hundreth of the thousand, and a thousand of ten thousand to bring vitaile for the people that they may do (when they come to Gibeah of Beniamin) according to all the villeny, that it hath done in Israel.
Wir wollen zehn Männer von hundert, und hundert von tausend, und tausend von zehntausend aus allen Stämmen Israels nehmen; die sollen Zehrung holen für das Volk, damit es komme und mit Gibea-Benjamin verfahre nach aller seiner Schandtat, die es in Israel verübt hat.
11 So all the men of Israel were gathered against the citie, knit together, as one man.
Also versammelten sich alle Männer von Israel bei der Stadt, verbündet wie ein Mann.
12 And the tribes of Israel sent men through al the tribe of Beniamin, saying, What wickednesse is this that is committed among you?
Und die Stämme von Israel sandten Männer zu allen Geschlechtern von Benjamin und ließen ihnen sagen: Was ist das für eine Schandtat, die bei euch verübt worden ist?
13 Nowe therefore deliuer vs those wicked men which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away euill from Israel: but the children of Beniamin would not obey the voyce of their brethren the children of Israel.
So gebt nun die Männer heraus, die Kinder Belials zu Gibea, daß wir sie töten und das Böse aus Israel ausrotten! Aber die Kinder Benjamin wollten der Stimme ihrer Brüder, der Kinder Israel, nicht gehorchen;
14 But ye children of Beniamin gathered them selues together out of the cities vnto Gibeah, to come out and fight against the children of Israel.
sondern sie versammelten sich aus den Städten in Gibea, um zum Streit wider die Kinder Israel auszuziehen.
15 And ye children of Beniamin were nombred at that time out of the cities sixe and twenty thousand men that drewe sworde, beside the inhabitants of Gibeah, which were nombred seuen hundreth chosen men.
Und es wurden an jenem Tag die Kinder Benjamin aus den Städten gemustert: 26000 Mann, die das Schwert zogen, ohne die Bürger von Gibea; derer wurden 700 gezählt, auserlesene Männer.
16 Of all this people were seuen hundreth chosen men, being left handed: all these could sling stones at an heare breadth, and not faile.
Und unter all diesem Volk waren 700 auserlesene Männer, die linkshändig waren; die schleuderten alle einen Stein haargenau, ohne zu fehlen.
17 Also the men of Israel, beside Beniamin, were nombred foure hundreth thousande men that drew sword, euen all men of warre.
Aber der Männer von Israel, ausgenommen Benjamin, wurden 400000 gezählt, die das Schwert zogen, alles streitbare Männer.
18 And the children of Israel arose, and went vp to the house of God, and asked of God, saying, Which of vs shall goe vp first to fight against the children of Beniamin? And the Lord said, Iudah shalbe first.
Und die Kinder Israel machten sich auf und zogen hinauf nach Bethel und fragten Gott und sprachen: Wer von uns soll zuerst hinaufziehen zum Streit mit den Kindern Benjamin? Der HERR sprach: Juda zuerst!
19 Then the children of Israel arose vp earely and camped against Gibeah.
Also machten sich die Kinder Israel am Morgen auf und lagerten sich vor Gibea.
20 And the men of Israel went out to battell against Beniamin, and the men of Israel put themselues in aray to fight against the beside Gibeah.
Und die Männer von Israel zogen aus, mit Benjamin zu streiten, und stellten sich in Schlachtordnung auf zum Streit wider Gibea.
21 And the children of Beniamin came out of Gibeah, and slewe downe to the ground of the Israelites that day two and twentie thousand men.
Da fielen die Kinder Benjamin aus Gibea heraus und streckten an jenem Tag unter Israel 22000 Mann zu Boden.
22 And the people, the men of Israel plucked vp their hearts, and set their battel againe in aray in the place where they put them in aray the first day.
Aber das Volk, die Männer von Israel, stärkten sich und stellten sich wieder in Schlachtordnung auf, am gleichen Orte, wo sie sich am Tage zuvor gestellt hatten.
23 (For the children of Israel had gone vp and wept before the Lord vnto the euening, and had asked of the Lord, saying, Shall I goe againe to battel against the children of Beniamin my brethren? and the Lord said, Go vp against them)
Und sie gingen hinauf und weinten vor dem HERRN und sprachen: Sollen wir wieder hinziehen, um mit unsern Brüdern, den Kindern Benjamin, zu streiten? Der HERR sprach: Zieht hinauf gegen sie!
24 Then the children of Israel came neere against the children of Beniamin the second day.
Als nun tags darauf die Kinder Israel sich an die Kinder Benjamin heranmachten,
25 Also the second day Beniamin came forth to meete them out of Gibeah, and slewe downe to the grounde of the children of Israel againe eighteene thousand men: all they could handle the sword.
fielen die Benjaminiten wieder aus Gibea heraus, ihnen entgegen, an demselben Tag, und streckten von den Kindern Israel weitere 18000 Mann zu Boden, die alle das Schwert gezogen.
26 Then al the children of Israel went vp and all the people came also vnto the house of God, and wept and sate there before the Lord and fasted that day vnto the euening, and offred burnt offrings and peace offrings before the Lord.
Da zogen alle Kinder Israel und alles Volk hinauf und kamen gen Bethel und weinten und blieben daselbst vor dem HERRN und fasteten an jenem Tag bis zum Abend und opferten Brandopfer und Dankopfer vor dem HERRN.
27 And the children of Israel asked the Lord (for there was the Arke of the couenat of God in those dayes,
Und die Kinder Israel fragten den HERRN; denn zu jener Zeit war daselbst die Bundeslade Gottes.
28 And Phinehas the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron stoode before it at that time) saying, Shall I yet goe anie more to battel against the children of Beniamin my brethren, or shall I cease? And the Lord said, Go vp: for to morowe I will deliuer them into your hand.
Und Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, des Sohnes Aarons, stand vor Ihm zu jener Zeit und fragte: Soll ich nochmals ausziehen, um mit unsern Brüdern, den Kindern Benjamin, zu streiten, oder soll ich es lassen? Der HERR sprach: Zieht hinauf, denn morgen will ich sie in eure Hand geben!
29 And Israel set men to lie in waite round about Gibeah.
Da legten die Kinder Israel einen Hinterhalt rings um Gibea her.
30 And the children of Israel went vp against the children of Beniamin the third day, and put theselues in aray against Gibeah, as at other times.
Darnach zogen die Kinder Israel am dritten Tage gegen die Kinder Benjamin hinauf und stellten sich in Schlachtordnung wider Gibea auf, wie zweimal zuvor.
31 Then the children of Beniamin comming out against the people, were drawen from the citie: and they began to smite of ye people and kill as at other times, euen by the wayes in the fielde (whereof one goeth vp to the house of God, and the other to Gibeah) vpon a thirtie men of Israel.
Da zogen die Kinder Benjamin heraus, dem Volke entgegen, und nachdem sie von der Stadt abgeschnitten worden, fingen sie an, etliche vom Volk zu erschlagen und zu töten, etwa dreißig Mann von Israel, wie zweimal zuvor, auf den Landstraßen, deren eine nach Bethel, die andere auf dem Felde nach Gibea führt.
32 (For the children of Beniamin sayd, They are fallen before vs, as at the first. But the children of Israel saide, Let vs flee and plucke them away from the citie vnto the hie wayes)
Da sprachen die Kinder Benjamin: Sie sind vor uns geschlagen wie zuvor! Aber die Kinder Israel sprachen: Laßt uns fliehen, damit wir sie von der Stadt abschneiden gegen die Landstraßen hin!
33 And all the men of Israel rose vp out of their place, and put themselues in aray at Baal-tamar: and the men that lay in wayte of the Israelites came forth of their place, euen out of the medowes of Gibeah,
Da machten sich alle Männer Israels auf von ihrem Ort und stellten sich in Schlachtordnung auf bei Baal-Tamar; aber der Hinterhalt Israels brach von seinem Standort, aus der Höhle von Gibea, hervor.
34 And they came ouer against Gibeah, ten thousande chosen men of all Israel, and the battell was sore: for they knewe not that the euill was neere them.
Und zehntausend auserlesene Männer aus ganz Israel kamen gegen Gibea, als der Streit hart war; die Kinder Benjamin aber merkten nicht, daß ihnen das Unglück nahte.
35 And the Lord smote Beniamin before Israel, and the children of Israel destroyed of the Beniamites the same day fiue and twenty thousand and an hundreth men: all they could handle the sword.
Und der HERR schlug Benjamin vor den Kindern Israel, so daß die Kinder Israel an jenem Tag 25100 Mann von Benjamin, die das Schwert zogen, zu Boden streckten.
36 So the children of Beniamin sawe that they were striken downe: for the men of Israel gaue place to the Beniamites, because they trusted to the men that lay in waite, which they had laide beside Gibeah.
Und die Kinder Benjamin sahen, daß sie geschlagen waren. Die Männer von Israel aber hatten Benjamin Raum gegeben; denn sie verließen sich auf den Hinterhalt, den sie bei Gibea bestellt hatten.
37 And they that lay in wait hasted, and brake forth toward Gibeah, and the ambushment drewe themselues along, and smote all the citie with the edge of the sword.
Und der Hinterhalt eilte und überfiel Gibea und zog aus und schlug die ganze Stadt mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
38 Also the men of Israel had appoynted a certaine time with the ambushmentes, that they should make a great flame and smoke rise vp out of the citie.
Aber die Männer von Israel hatten mit dem Hinterhalt die Abrede getroffen, daß dieser einen starken Rauch aus der Stadt solle aufsteigen lassen.
39 And when the men of Israel retired in the battel, Beniamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirtie persons: for they said, Surely they are striken downe before vs, as in the first battell.
Darum wandten sich die Männer von Israel im Streit, und Benjamin fing an zu schlagen und zu töten von Israel etwa dreißig Mann; denn sie dachten: Sie sind wieder vor uns geschlagen wie im vorigen Streit.
40 But when the flame bega to arise out of the citie, as a pillar of smoke, the Beniamites looked backe, and behold, the flame of the citie began to ascend vp to heauen.
Als aber von der Stadt der Rauch wie eine Säule aufzusteigen begann, sah Benjamin hinter sich, und siehe, da flammte von der ganzen Stadt Feuer auf gen Himmel!
41 Then the men of Israel turned againe, and the men of Beniamin were astonied: for they saw that euill was neere vnto them.
Nun wandten sich die Männer von Israel um; die Männer von Benjamin aber waren bestürzt; denn sie sahen, daß das Unglück sie getroffen hatte.
42 Therefore they fled before the men of Israel vnto the way of the wildernesse, but the battell ouertooke them: also they which came out of the cities, slew them among them.
Sie wandten sich zwar vor den Männern Israels auf den Weg zur Wüste, aber der Streit folgte ihnen; und die, welche aus den Städten kamen, nahmen sie in die Mitte und machten sie nieder.
43 Thus they compassed the Beniamites about, and chased them at ease, and ouerranne them, euen ouer against Gibeah on the Eastside.
Und sie umzingelten Benjamin, verfolgten sie bis Menucha und zertraten sie bis vor Gibea, gegen Sonnenaufgang.
44 And there were slaine of Beniamin eyghteene thousad men, which were all men of warre.
Und von Benjamin fielen 18000 Mann, alles streitbare Männer.
45 And they turned and fled to the wildernes vnto the rocke of Rimmon: and the Israelites glayned of them by the way fiue thousand men, and pursued after them vnto Gidom, and slewe two thousand men of them,
Da wandten sie sich und flohen gegen die Wüste an den Felsen Rimmon. Aber jene schlugen auf den Straßen 5000 Mann und setzten ihnen nach bis Gideom und schlugen von ihnen [noch] 2000 Mann.
46 So that all that were slayne that day of Beniamin, were fiue and twentie thousand men that drewe sword, which were all men of warre:
Also fielen an jenem Tage von Benjamin im ganzen 25000 Mann, die das Schwert gezogen hatten, lauter streitbare Männer.
47 But sixe hundreth men turned and fled to the wildernesse vnto the rocke of Rimmon, and abode in the rocke of Rimmon foure moneths.
Nur 600 Mann wandten sich und entflohen zur Wüste, zum Felsen Rimmon, und verblieben auf dem Felsen Rimmon vier Monate lang.
48 Then the men of Israel returned vnto the children of Beniamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword from the men of the citie vnto the beasts, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they coulde come by.
Und die Männer Israels kehrten zurück zu den Kindern Benjamin und schlugen mit der Schärfe des Schwertes alles, was in der Stadt war, vom Menschen bis zum Vieh, alles, was man fand; auch alle vorhandenen Städte verbrannten sie mit Feuer.
