Judges 2
1 And an Angel of the Lord came vp from Gilgal to Bochim, and sayd, I made you to go vp out of Egypt, and haue brought you vnto the land which I had sworne vnto your fathers, and sayd, I wil neuer breake my couenant with you.
Subió el Ángel de Yahvé de Gálgala a Boquín, y dijo: “Yo os he sacado de Egipto, y os he introducido en el país que prometí con juramento a vuestros padres. Y dije: Jamás quebrantaré mi alianza con vosotros,
2 Ye also shall make no couenant with the inhabitants of this land, but shall breake downe their altars: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce. Why haue ye done this?
si vosotros no hacéis alianza con los habitantes de esta tierra, y si derribáis sus altares. Pero no habéis obedecido mi voz. ¿Por qué habéis hecho esto?
3 Wherefore, I sayd also, I wil not cast them out before you, but they shalbe as thornes vnto your sides, and their gods shalbe your destruction.
Por eso Yo por mi parte he dicho: No los expulsaré delante de vosotros, sino que quedarán a vuestro lado y sus dioses os serán un lazo”.
4 And when the Angel of the Lord spake these wordes vnto all the children of Israel, the people lift vp their voyce, and wept.
Al decir el Ángel de Yahvé estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo alzó la voz y se puso a llorar.
5 Therefore they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifices there vnto the Lord.
Por eso llamaron a este lugar Boquín; y ofrecieron allí sacrificios a Yahvé.
6 Now when Ioshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went euery man into his inheritance, to possesse the land.
Despedido que hubo Josué al pueblo, los hijos de Israel se fueron cada cual a su herencia para tomar posesión de la tierra;
7 And the people had serued the Lord al the dayes of Ioshua, and all the dayes of the Elders that outliued Ioshua, which had seene all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
y sirvió el pueblo a Yahvé todos los días de Josué, y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué y que habían visto toda la obra grandiosa que Yahvé había hecho en favor de Israel.
8 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun the seruant of the Lord dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yeeres olde:
Pero murió Josué, hijo de Nun, siervo de Yahvé, cuando tenía ciento y diez años;
9 And they buryed him in the coastes of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.
y le sepultaron en el terreno de su propia herencia, en Timnatheres, en la montaña de Efraím, al norte del monte Gaas.
10 And so all that generation was gathered vnto their fathers, and another generation arose after them, which neither knewe the Lord, nor yet the works, which he had done for Israel.
También toda aquella generación fue congregada con sus padres; y surgió otra generación después de ellos que no conocía a Yahvé, ni la obra que Él había hecho a favor de Israel.
11 Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim,
Entonces los hijos de Israel hicieron lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé. Sirvieron a los Baales,
12 And forsooke ye Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and followed other gods, euen the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed vnto them, and prouoked the Lord to anger.
y abandonando a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, que los había sacado del país de Egipto, anduvieron en pos de otros dioses, de entre los dioses de los pueblos que los rodeaban, y se postraron ante ellos, provocando la ira de Yahvé.
13 So they forsooke the Lord, and serued Baal, and Ashtaroth.
Dejaron a Yahvé, y sirvieron a Baal y a las Astartés.
14 And the wrath of the Lord was hote against Israel, and he deliuered them into the hands of spoylers, that spoyled them, and he sold them into the handes of their enemies rounde about them, so that they could no longer stande before their enemies.
Entonces se encendió la ira de Yahvé contra Israel; por lo cual los entregó en manos de salteadores que los saquearon, y los vendió en manos de sus enemigos que los rodeaban, y no pudieron ya resistir a sus enemigos.
15 Whithersoeuer they went out, the hand of the Lord was sore against them, as ye Lord had sayd, and as the Lord had sworne vnto them: so he punished them sore.
Por doquiera que salían, la mano de Yahvé descargaba sobre ellos, para su daño, como Yahvé les había dicho y jurado, con lo que se vieron en muy grande aprieto.
16 Notwithstanding, the Lord raysed vp Iudges, which deliuered them out of the hands of their oppressours.
Entonces suscitó Yahvé jueces que los librasen de los saqueadores.
17 But yet they would not obey their Iudges: for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandements of the Lord: they did not so.
Mas ni aun a sus jueces quisieron escuchar, sino que se prostituyeron yéndose tras otros dioses, ante los cuales se postraban. Así se apartaron muy pronto del camino en que anduvieron sus padres, obedeciendo los mandamientos de Yahvé; ellos, empero, no lo hicieron así.
18 And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)
Cuando Yahvé les suscitaba un juez, estaba con él, y los salvaba de sus enemigos, todos los días de aquel juez; porque Yahvé les tenía compasión a causa de los gemidos que proferían ante sus opresores y vejadores.
19 Yet when the Iudge was dead, they returned, and did worse then their fathers, in following other gods to serue them and worshippe them: they ceased not from their owne inuentions, nor from their rebellious way.
Pero al morir el juez, volvían a corromperse más que sus padres y andaban en pos de otros dioses sirviéndolos y dándoles culto. No dejaron estas sus maldades ni su perverso camino.
20 Wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sayd, Because this people hath transgressed my couenant, which I commaded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voyce,
Por eso se encendió la ira de Yahvé contra Israel, y dijo: “Por cuanto este pueblo viola la alianza que Yo prescribí a sus padres, y no escucha mi voz,
21 Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the nations, which Ioshua left when he dyed,
tampoco Yo seguiré expulsando de delante de ellos a ninguno de aquellos pueblos que dejó Josué cuando murió,
22 That through them I may proue Israel, whether they wil keepe the way of the Lord, to walke therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
a fin de probar por medio de ellos a Israel, si pondrán o no su empeño en andar en el camino de Yahvé, como hicieron sus padres.”
23 So the Lord left those nations, and droue them not out immediatly, neither deliuered them into the hand of Ioshua.
Y Yahvé dejó a aquellos pueblos sin apresurarse a expulsarlos, como tampoco los había entregado en manos de Josué.
