Judges 2
1 And an Angel of the Lord came vp from Gilgal to Bochim, and sayd, I made you to go vp out of Egypt, and haue brought you vnto the land which I had sworne vnto your fathers, and sayd, I wil neuer breake my couenant with you.
Ja Herran enkeli astui ylös Gilgalista Bokimiin ja sanoi: minä johdatin teidät tänne Egyptistä ja toin teidät siihen maahan, jonka minä vannoin teidän isillenne ja sanoin: en minä tee liittoani teidän kanssanne tyhjäksi ijankaikkisesti,
2 Ye also shall make no couenant with the inhabitants of this land, but shall breake downe their altars: but ye haue not obeyed my voyce. Why haue ye done this?
Ja ei teidän pidä ikänä tekemän liittoa tämän maan asuvaisten kanssa: teidän pitää maahan kukistaman heidän alttarinsa; mutta ette totelleet minun ääntäni. Miksi te sen olette tehneet?
3 Wherefore, I sayd also, I wil not cast them out before you, but they shalbe as thornes vnto your sides, and their gods shalbe your destruction.
Sanoin minä myös: en minä heitä teidän edestänne aja pois, vaan heidän pitää oleman teille paulaksi, ja heidän Jumalansa teille verkoksi.
4 And when the Angel of the Lord spake these wordes vnto all the children of Israel, the people lift vp their voyce, and wept.
Ja kuin Herran enkeli nämät sanat puhunut oli kaikille Israelin lapsille, korotti kansa äänensä ja itki;
5 Therefore they called the name of that place, Bochim, and offered sacrifices there vnto the Lord.
Ja kutsuivat sen paikan Bokim, ja uhrasivat siinä Herralle.
6 Now when Ioshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went euery man into his inheritance, to possesse the land.
Ja kuin Josua oli päästänyt kansan tyköänsä, ja Israelin lapset menneet itsekukin perintöönsä, maata omistamaan,
7 And the people had serued the Lord al the dayes of Ioshua, and all the dayes of the Elders that outliued Ioshua, which had seene all the great works of the Lord that he did for Israel.
Palveli kansa Jumalaa niinkauvan kuin Josua eli, ja koko vanhimpain aikana, jotka Josuan perässä kauvan elivät ja olivat nähneet kaikkia Herran suuria töitä, jotka hän Israelille tehnyt oli.
8 But Ioshua the sonne of Nun the seruant of the Lord dyed, when he was an hundreth and ten yeeres olde:
Mutta kuin Josua Nunin poika Herran palvelia kuoli, sadan ja kymmenen ajastaikaisena,
9 And they buryed him in the coastes of his inheritance, in Timnath-heres in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.
Ja he olivat haudanneet hänet perintömaansa rajoihin, TimnatHerekseen, Ephraimin vuorelle pohjan puolelle Gaasin vuorta;
10 And so all that generation was gathered vnto their fathers, and another generation arose after them, which neither knewe the Lord, nor yet the works, which he had done for Israel.
Kuin myös kaikki se sukukunta oli koottu isäinsä tykö, tuli toinen sukukunta heidän jälkeensä, jotka ei tunteneet Herraa eikä niitä töitä, jotka hän Israelille tehnyt oli.
11 Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim,
Ja Israelin lapset tekivät pahaa Herran edessä ja palvelivat Baalia,
12 And forsooke ye Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and followed other gods, euen the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed vnto them, and prouoked the Lord to anger.
Ja hylkäsivät Herran, isäinsä Jumalan, joka heidät Egyptin maalta oli johdattanut ulos, ja seurasivat vieraita jumalia niiden kansain jumalista, jotka heidän ympärillänsä asuivat, ja kumarsivat niitä, ja vihoittivat Herran;
13 So they forsooke the Lord, and serued Baal, and Ashtaroth.
Ja hylkäsivät Herran, ja palvelivat Baalia ja Astarotia.
14 And the wrath of the Lord was hote against Israel, and he deliuered them into the hands of spoylers, that spoyled them, and he sold them into the handes of their enemies rounde about them, so that they could no longer stande before their enemies.
Niin julmistui Herran viha Israeliin, ja antoi heidät ryövärien käsiin, jotka heitä ryöstivät, ja myi heitä vihollistensa käsiin ympäristölle; ja ei he taitaneet enää seisoa vihollisiansa vastaan,
15 Whithersoeuer they went out, the hand of the Lord was sore against them, as ye Lord had sayd, and as the Lord had sworne vnto them: so he punished them sore.
Mutta kuhunka ikänä he itsensä käänsivät, oli Herran käsi heitä vastaan onnettomuudeksi, niinkuin Herra heille sanonut ja niinkuin Herra heille vannonut oli; ja he aivan kovin ahdistettiin.
16 Notwithstanding, the Lord raysed vp Iudges, which deliuered them out of the hands of their oppressours.
Ja Herra herätti tuomarit, jotka heitä vapahtivat niiden käsistä, jotka heitä ryöstivät.
17 But yet they would not obey their Iudges: for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandements of the Lord: they did not so.
Niin ei he tuomareitansakaan totelleet, vaan huorin tekivät vierasten jumalain kanssa, ja kumarsivat niitä; he harhailivat nopiasti siltä tieltä, jota heidän isänsä olivat vaeltaneet, kuullaksensa Herran käskyjä: ei he niin tehneet.
18 And when the Lord had raysed them vp Iudges, the Lord was with the Iudge, and deliuered them out of the hande of their enemies all the dayes of the Iudge (for the Lord had compassion on their gronings, because of them that oppressed them and tormented them)
Kuin Herra herätti heille tuomarit, niin oli Herra tuomarein kanssa ja varjeli heitä heidän vihollistensa käsistä niinkauvan kuin tuomari eli; sillä Herra armahti heidän huokauksensa päälle niiden tähden, jotka heitä vaivasivat ja ahdistivat.
19 Yet when the Iudge was dead, they returned, and did worse then their fathers, in following other gods to serue them and worshippe them: they ceased not from their owne inuentions, nor from their rebellious way.
Mutta kuin tuomari kuollut oli, palasivat he, ja turmelivat sen enemmin kuin heidän isänsä, seuraten vieraita jumalia, palvellen ja kumartain niitä; ei he luopuneet teoistansa eikä kovasta tiestänsä.
20 Wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sayd, Because this people hath transgressed my couenant, which I commaded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voyce,
Sentähden julmistui Herran viha niin Israelin päälle, että hän sanoi: että tämä kansa rikkoi minun liittoni, jonka minä käskin heidän isillensä, ja ei kuullut minun ääntäni.
21 Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the nations, which Ioshua left when he dyed,
Niin en minäkään tästedes aja pois heidän edestänsä yhtäkään niistä pakanoista, jotka Josua jätti kuoltuansa;
22 That through them I may proue Israel, whether they wil keepe the way of the Lord, to walke therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
Että minä koettelisin Israelia heidän kauttansa, pysyvätkö he Herran teillä ja vaeltavat niissä, niinkuin heidän isänsä ovat pysyneet, vai eikö.
23 So the Lord left those nations, and droue them not out immediatly, neither deliuered them into the hand of Ioshua.
Ja Herra jätti nämät pakanat, ettei hän nopiasti heitä ajanut ulos, ja ei antanut heitä Josuan käteen.
