Judges 16
1 Then went Samson to Azzah, and sawe there an harlot, and went in vnto her.
Simson ging nun nach Gaza. Da sah er dort eine Dirne und ging zu ihr.
2 And it was tolde to the Azzahites, Samson is come hither. And they went about, and laied wayte for him all night in the gate of the citie, and were quiet all the nyght, saying, Abide till the morning earely, and we shall kill him.
Bei den Leuten von Gaza hieß es nun: "Simson ist hierhergekommen." Da stellten sie sich ringsum auf und lauerten ihm ganz heimlich am Stadttor auf. Sie blieben aber die ganze Nacht ruhig, weil sie sagten: "Erst wenn der Morgen tagt, erschlagen wir ihn."
3 And Samson slept till midnight, and arose at midnight, and tooke the doores of the gates of the citie, and the two postes and lift them away with the barres, and put them vpon his shoulders, and caried them vp to the top of the mountaine that is before Hebron.
Simson aber schlief bis Mitternacht. Um Mitternacht aber stand er auf, packte die Stadttorflügel samt den beiden Pfosten, hob sie samt dem Riegel aus, legte sie auf seine Schultern und trug sie auf den Gipfel des Berges gegenüber Hebron.
4 And after this hee loued a woman by the riuer of Sorek, whose name was Delilah:
Später liebte er ein Weib am Bache Sorek. Sie hieß Delila.
5 Vnto whome came the princes of the Philistims, and said vnto her, Entise him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what meane we may ouercome him, that we may binde him, and punish him, and euery one of vs shall giue thee eleuen hundreth shekels of siluer.
Da kamen die Philisterfürsten zu ihr herauf und redeten ihr zu: "Berede ihn und sieh zu, wodurch seine Kraft so groß ist und womit wir ihm beikommen können, daß wir ihn fesseln und bezwingen! Dann geben wir, Mann für Mann, dir elfhundert Silberringe."
6 And Delilah saide to Samson, Tell mee, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest bee bound, to doe thee hurt.
Da sprach Delila zu Simson: "Sag mir doch, wodurch deine Kraft so groß ist und womit du gefesselt werden mußt, daß man dich bezwinge!"
7 Samson then answered vnto her, If they binde mee with seuen greene cordes, that were neuer dryed, then shall I bee weake, and be as an other man.
Simson sprach zu ihr: "Bände man mich mit sieben frischen, feuchten Saiten, dann würde ich schwach und würde wie ein anderer Mensch."
8 And the princes of the Philistims brought her seuen greene cordes that were not dry, and she bound him therewith.
Da brachten die Philisterfürsten sieben frische, feuchte Saiten, und sie band ihn damit.
9 (And she had men lying in wayte with her in the chamber) Then she said vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And hee brake the cordes, as a threede of towe is broken, when it feeleth fire: so his strength was not knowen.
Bei ihr im Gemache aber saß der Aufpasser. Da sprach sie zu ihm: "Simson! Die Philister sind über dir." Da zerriß er die Saiten, wie ein Wergfaden zerreißt, wenn er Feuer spürt. So blieb seine Kraft unerkundet.
10 After Delilah saide vnto Samson, See, thou hast mocked mee and tolde mee lies. I pray thee nowe, tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound.
Da sprach Delila zu Simson: "Du hast mich genarrt und mir Lügen vorgeredet. Sag mir jetzt, womit du gefesselt werden mußt!"
11 Then he answered her, If they binde mee with newe ropes that neuer were occupied, then shall I be weake, and be as an other man.
Er sagte ihr: "Bände man mich mit neun neuen Stricken, mit denen noch keine Arbeit getan worden, dann würde ich schwach und wie ein anderer Mensch."
12 Delilah therefore tooke newe ropes, and bounde him therewith, and saide vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson: (and men lay in wayte in the chamber) and hee brake them from his armes, as a threede.
Da nahm Delila neue Stricke und fesselte ihn damit. Dann sprach sie zu ihm: "Die Philister sind über dir, Simson." Der Aufpasser aber saß im inneren Gemach. Da riß er sie von seinen Armen wie einen Faden.
13 Afterward Delilah said to Samson, Hitherto thou hast beguiled mee, and tolde me lies: tell me how thou mightest be bounde. And he sayde vnto her, If thou plattedst seuen lockes of mine head with the threedes of the woufe.
Da sprach Delila zu Simson: "Bisher hast du mich genarrt und mir Lügen vorgeredet. Sag mir doch, womit du gefesselt werden mußt!" Da sagte er ihr: "Wenn du die sieben Locken meines Hauptes mit der Decke verflöchtest."
14 And she fastened it with a pinne, and saide vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleepe, and went away with the pinne of the webbe and the woufe.
Da klopfte sie an den Pflock und sprach zu ihm: "Simson! Die Philister sind über dir." Da erwachte er aus seinem Schlaf und riß den Pflock, das Geflecht und die Decke aus.
15 Againe shee sayde vnto him, Howe canst thou say, I loue thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked mee these three times, and hast not tolde me wherein thy great strength lieth.
Da sagte sie zu ihm: "Wie kannst du behaupten, du liebest mich? Dein Herz ist nicht bei mir. Dreimal hast du mich genarrt und mir nicht gesagt, wodurch deine Kraft so groß ist."
16 And because shee was importunate vpon him with her wordes continually, and vexed him, his soule was pained vnto the death.
So setzte sie ihm mit ihren Reden unaufhörlich zu und quälte ihn. Da ward seine Seele zum Sterben ungeduldig.
17 Therefore he tolde her all his heart, and said vnto her, There neuer came rasor vpon mine head: for I am a Nazarite vnto God from my mothers wombe: therefore if I bee shauen, my strength will goe from me, and I shalbe weake, and be like all other men.
Und so entdeckte er ihr sein ganzes Herz und sprach zu ihr: "Auf mein Haupt ist noch nie ein Schermesser gekommen. Denn ich bin vom Mutterleibe an ein Gottgeweihter. Würde ich geschoren, so wiche meine Kraft von mir. Ich würde schwach und wäre wie jeder andere Mensch."
18 And when Delilah sawe that he had tolde her all his heart, she sent, and called for the Princes of ye Philistims, saying, Come vp once againe: for he hath shewed mee all his heart. Then the Princes of the Philistims came vp vnto her, and brought the money in their handes.
Da sah Delila, daß er ihr sein ganzes Herz verraten hatte. Sie sandte hin und ließ die Philisterfürsten rufen und ihnen sagen: "Kommt diesmal! Er hat mir sein ganzes Herz verraten." Da kamen die Philisterfürsten zu ihr und brachten das Geld mit.
19 And she made him sleepe vpon her knees, and she called a man, and made him to shaue off the seuen lockes of his head, and shee began to vexe him, and his strength was gone from him.
Nun ließ sie ihn auf ihrem Schoße einschlafen. Dann rief sie nach einem Schermesser und schnitt ihm die sieben Locken seines Hauptes ab. Da ward es mit ihm immer schwächer, und seine Kraft wich von ihm.
20 Then she said, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson. And hee awoke out of his sleepe, and thought, I will go out now as at other times, and shake my selfe, but he knewe not that the Lord was departed from him.
Sie sprach: "Simson! Die Philister sind über dir." Da wachte er aus seinem Schlafe und dachte: "Ich will hinaus wie sonst und mich aufraffen." Er wußte aber nicht, daß der Herr von ihm gewichen war.
21 Therefore the Philistims tooke him, and put out his eyes, and brought him downe to Azzah, and bounde him with fetters: and hee did grinde in the prison house.
Da griffen ihn die Philister und stachen ihm die Augen aus. Dann führten sie ihn nach Gaza hinab und schlugen ihn in eherne Fesseln. Da mußte er die Mühle im Gefängnis drehen.
22 And the heare of his head began to growe againe after that it was shauen.
Sein Haupthaar aber begann wieder zu wachsen, so wie es abgeschoren war.
23 Then the Princes of the Philistims gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice vnto Dagon their god, and to reioyce: for they said, Our god hath deliuered Samson our enemie into our handes.
Nun kamen die Philisterfürsten zusammen, ihrem Gott Dagon ein großes Opferfest zu bereiten und sich zu freuen; denn sie sagten: "Unser Gott hat unseren Feind Simson in unsere Hand gegeben."
24 Also when the people saw him, they praysed their god: for they sayde, Our god hath deliuered into our hands our enemie and destroyer of our countrey, which hath slayne many of vs.
Auch das Volk hörte von ihm, und sie priesen ihren Gott; denn sie sagten: "Unser Gott hat unseren Feind in unsere Hand gegeben, den Verwüster unseres Landes, ihn, der so viele von uns erschlagen hat."
25 And when their heartes were merie, they said, Call Samson, that he may make vs pastime. So they called Samson out of the prison house, and he was a laughing stocke vnto them, and they set him betweene the pillars.
Als sie nun guter Dinge wurden, sprachen sie: "Ruft Simson herbei, daß er uns belustige!" Da rief man Simson aus dem Gefängnis, und er mußte sie belustigen. Sie stellten ihn zwischen die Säulen.
26 Then Samson saide vnto the seruant that led him by the hande, Lead me, that I may touch the pillars that the house standeth vpon, and that I may leane to them.
Da sprach er zu dem Knaben, der ihn an der Hand hielt: "Laß mich die Säulen betasten, auf denen das Haus ruht! Ich möchte daran lehnen."
27 (Nowe the house was full of men and women, and there were all the princes of the Philistims: also vpon the roofe were about three thousande men and women that behelde while Samson played)
Das Haus aber war voller Männer und Weiber. Auch alle Philisterfürsten waren hier zugegen, und auf dem Dache waren an 3.000 Männer und Weiber, die Simsons Spiele zusahen.
28 Then Samson called vnto the Lord, and sayde, O Lord God, I pray thee, thinke vpon me: O God, I beseech thee, strengthen me at this time onely, that I may be at once auenged of the Philistims for my two eyes.
Da rief Simson zum Herrn und sprach: "Herr, ach Herr! Gedenke meiner und stärke mich nur diesmal, o Gott! Ich will für meine beiden Augen einmalige Rache an den Philistern nehmen."
29 And Samson layd hold on the two middle pillars whereupon the house stood, and on which it was borne vp: on the one with his right hand, and on the other with his left.
Dann umschlang Simson die beiden Mittelsäulen, auf denen das Haus ruhte, und drückte darauf, auf die eine mit dem rechten, auf die andere mit dem linken Arm.
30 Then Samson saide, Let me lose my life with the Philistims: and he bowed him with all his might, and the house fell vpon the princes, and vpon all the people that were therein. so the dead which he slewe at his death were more then they which he had slaine in his life.
Dann sprach Simson: "Nun sterbe ich mit den Philistern." Und er neigte sich mit Macht, und das Haus fiel auf die Fürsten und alles Volk darin. So wurden es der Toten, die er getötet hatte, bei seinem Tode mehr als derer, die er bei Lebzeiten getötet.
31 Then his brethren, and all the house of his father came downe and tooke him, and brought him vp and buryed him betweene Zorah and Eshtaol, in the sepulchre of Manoah his father: nowe he had iudged Israel twenty yeeres.
Dann kamen seine Brüder und sein ganzes Vaterhaus herab, holten ihn hinauf und begruben ihn zwischen Sora und Estaol in seines Vaters Manoach Grab. Er hatte Israel zwanzig Jahre gerichtet.
