Judges 14
1 Nowe Samson went downe to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims,
I siđe Samson u Timnu i ugleda ondje djevojku među filistejskim kćerima.
2 And he came vp and told his father and his mother and saide, I haue seene a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims: now therfore giue me her to wife.
Vrativši se, povjeri to ocu i majci: “Opazio sam u Timni”, reče on, “djevojku među filistejskim kćerima: oženite me njome.”
3 Then his father and his mother sayde vnto him, Is there neuer a wife among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, that thou must go to take a wife of the vncircumcised Philistims? And Samson sayd vnto his father, Giue mee her, for she pleaseth me well.
Otac i mati rekoše: “Zar nema djevojaka među kćerima tvoga plemena i u svemu našem narodu da moraš uzeti ženu između neobrezanih Filistejaca?” Ali Samson odgovori ocu: “Oženi me njome jer mi ona omilje.”
4 But his father and his mother knewe not that it came of the Lord, that he should seeke an occasion against the Philistims: for at that time the Philistims reigned ouer Israel.
Otac mu i majka nisu znali da je to od Jahve, koji je tražio zadjevicu s Filistejcima jer Filistejci u ono doba vladahu Izraelom.
5 Then went Samson and his father and his mother downe to Timnath, and came to ye vineyardes at Timnath: and beholde, a young Lyon roared vpon him.
Samson siđe tako u Timnu i kad dođe do timnjanskih vinograda, gle - odjednom preda nj iskoči mladi lav ričući.
6 And the Spirit of the Lord came vpon him, and he tare him, as one should haue rent a kid, and had nothing in his hand, neither told he his father nor his mother what he had done.
Duh Jahvin zahvati Samsona, i on goloruk raskida lava kao što se raskida jare; ali ne reče ni ocu ni majci što je učinio.
7 And he went down, and talked with the woman which was beautifull in the eyes of Samson.
Došavši, razgovori se s djevojkom i ona mu omilje.
8 And within a fewe dayes, when he returned to receiue her, he went aside to see the karkeis of the Lion: and behold, there was a swarme of bees, and hony in the body of the Lyon.
Poslije nekog vremena, kada se vratio da je odvede, Samson skrenu da vidi mrtvog lava, a to u mrtvom lavu roj pčela i med.
9 And he tooke therof in his handes, and went eating, and came to his father and to his mother, and gaue vnto them, and they did eate: but hee told not them, that he had taken the hony out of the body of the lyon.
On uze meda u ruke i jeo ga je idući putem. Kada se vratio k ocu i majci, dade ga i njima te i oni jedoše; ali im ne reče da ga je uzeo iz mrtvog lava.
10 So his father went down vnto the woman, and Samson made there a feast: for so vsed the yong men to doe.
Zatim ode ženi i ondje prirediše gozbu Samsonu; trajala je sedam dana, jer tako običavahu mladi ljudi.
11 And when they sawe him, they brought thirtie companions to be with him.
Ali kako ga se bojahu, izabraše trideset svadbenih drugova da budu uza nj.
12 Then Samson sayd vnto them, I will nowe put forth a riddle vnto you: and if you can declare it me within seuen dayes of the feast, and finde it out, I will giue you thirty sheetes, and thirtie change of garments.
Tad im reče Samson: “Hajde da vam zadam zagonetku. Ako je odgonetnete za sedam svadbenih dana, dat ću vam trideset truba finog platna i trideset svečanih haljina.
13 But if you cannot declare it mee, then shall yee giue mee thirty sheetes and thirtie change of garments. And they answered him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may heare it.
Ali ako je ne mognete odgonetnuti, vi ćete meni dati trideset truba platna i trideset svečanih haljina.” “Zadaj nam zagonetku”, odgovore mu oni, “mi te slušamo.”
14 And he sayd vnto them, Out of the eater came meate, and out of the strong came sweetenesse: and they could not in three dayes expound the riddle.
A on im reče: “Od onog koji jede izišlo je jelo, od jakoga izišlo je slatko.” Ali za tri dana nisu mogli odgonetnuti zagonetke.
15 And when the seuenth day was come, they said vnto Samsons wife, Entise thine husband, that he may declare vs the riddle, lest wee burne thee and thy fathers house with fire. Haue ye called vs, to possesse vs? is it not so?
Četvrtoga dana rekoše Samsonovoj ženi: “Izvuci od muža na prijevaru rješenje zagonetke, ili ćemo spaliti i tebe i očev ti dom! Zar ste nas ovamo pozvali da nas oplijenite?”
16 And Samsons wife wept before him, and said, Surely thou hatest mee and louest mee not: for thou hast put forth a riddle vnto the children of my people, and hast not told it mee. And hee sayd vnto her, Beholde, I haue not told it my father, nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
Tada žena, uplakana, obisnu Samsonu oko vrata govoreći: “Ti mene samo mrziš i ne ljubiš me. Zadao si zagonetku sinovima moga naroda, a meni je nisi objasnio.” On joj odgovori: “Nisam je objasnio ni ocu ni majci, a tebi da je kažem?”
17 Then Samsons wife wept before him seuen dayes, while their feast lasted: and when the seuenth day came he tolde her, because she was importunate vpon him: so she told the riddle to the children of her people.
Ona mu plakaše oko vrata sedam dana, koliko je trajala gozba. Sedmoga dana on joj kaza odgonetku: toliko je na nj navaljivala. I ona je odade sinovima svoga naroda.
18 And the men of ye citie sayde vnto him the seuenth day before the Sunne went downe, What is sweeter then honie? and what is stronger then a lyon? Then sayd hee vnto them, If yee had not plowed with my heiffer, yee had not found out my riddle.
Sedmoga dana, prije nego je zašlo sunce, ljudi iz toga grada rekoše Samsonu: “Što ima slađe od meda i što ima jače od lava?” A on im odgovori: “Da niste s mojom junicom orali, ne biste zagonetke pogodili.”
19 And the Spirite of the Lord came vpon him, and he went downe to Ashkelon, and slew thirtie men of them and spoyled them, and gaue chaunge of garments vnto them, which expounded the riddle: and his wrath was kindled, and he went vp to his fathers house.
Tada duh Jahvin dođe na njega, te on siđe u Aškelon i ondje pobi trideset ljudi, uze im odjeću i dade svečane haljine onima koji su odgonetnuli zagonetku, a onda se sav gnjevan vrati očevoj kući.
20 Then Samsons wife was giuen to his companion, whom he had vsed as his friend.
A Samsonovu ženu dadoše drugu koji mu bijaše svadbeni pratilac.
