Judges 12

1 And the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

Da ward Ephraims Mannschaft aufgeboten. Und sie zog gen Saphon. Und sie sprachen zu Jephte: "Warum bist du in den Kampf wider die Ammoniter gezogen und hast uns nicht gerufen, mit dir zu ziehen? Wir wollen dein Haus über dir anzünden."

2 And Iphtah said vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes.

Da sprach Jephte zu ihnen: "Ich und mein Volk haben einen schweren Kampf mit den Ammonitern gehabt. Ich rief euch; aber ihr habt mich nicht aus ihrer Hand befreit.

3 So when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me?

Als ich sah, daß du mir nicht halfest, da wagte ich mein Leben und zog aus gegen die Ammoniter. Und der Herr gab sie in meine Hand. Was zieht ihr heute wider mich, mit mir zu streiten?"

4 Then Iphtah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are runnagates of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

Dann bot Jephte alle Männer Gileads auf und stritt mit Ephraim. Da schlugen Gileads Männer Ephraim. Denn dieses pflegte zu sagen: "Ihr seid Flüchtlinge aus Ephraim." Gilead liegt ja zwischen Ephraim und Manasse.

5 Also the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iorden before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were escaped, saide, Let me passe, then the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay,

Und Gilead besetzte die Jordanfurten nach Ephraim. Sagten nun die Flüchtlinge von Ephraim: "Ich möchte hinüber", so fragten ihn die Männer Gileads: "Bist du ein Ephratiter?" Sagte er: "Nein!"

6 Then said they vnto him, Say nowe Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for he could not so pronounce: then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iorden: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and fourtie thousand.

Dann sagten sie zu ihm- "Sag doch Schibbolet! Sagte er Sibbolet, weil er nicht richtig sprechen konnte, dann griffen sie ihn und metzelten ihn an den Jordanfurten. So fielen damals aus Ephraim 42.000.

7 And Iphtah iudged Israel sixe yeere: then dyed Iphtah the Gileadite, and was buryed in one of the cities of Gilead.

Und Jephte richtete Israel sechs Jahre. Dann starb Jephte, der Gileaditer, und ward in einer der Städte Gileads begraben.

8 After him Ibzan of Beth-lehem iudged Israel,

Nach ihm richtete Ibsan aus Bethlehem Israel.

9 Who had thirtie sonnes and thirtie daughters, which he sent out, and tooke in thirtie daughters from abroade for his sonnes. and he iudged Israel seuen yeere.

Er hatte dreißig Söhne. Dreißig Töchter gab er auswärts und dreißig Töchter führte er seinen Söhnen von auswärts zu. Er richtete Israel sieben Jahre.

10 Then Ibzan died, and was buryed at Bethlehem.

Ibsan starb und ward zu Bethlehem begraben.

11 And after him iudged Israel Elon, a Zebulonite, and he iudged Israel tenne yeere.

Nach ihm richtete der Zabulonite Elon Israel. Er richtete Israel zehn Jahre lang.

12 Then Elon the Zebulonite dyed, and was buryed in Aijalon in the countrey of Zebulun.

Dann starb der Zabulonite Elon und ward zu Ajjalon im Lande Zabulon begraben.

13 And after him Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite iudged Israel.

Nach ihm richtete der Piratonite Abdon, Hillels Sohn, Israel.

14 And he had fourty sonnes and thirtie nephewes that rode on seuentie assecoltes: and he iudged Israel eight yeeres.

Er hatte vierzig Söhne und dreißig Enkel, die auf siebzig Eselsfüllen ritten. Er richtete Israel acht Jahre.

15 Then dyed Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite, and was buryed in Pirathon, in ye lande of Ephraim, in the Mount of the Amalekites.

Dann starb der Piratonite Abdon, Hillels Sohn, und ward zu Piraton im Land Ephraim auf dem Arnalekitergebirge begraben.
