Judges 10
1 After Abimelech there arose to defend Israel, Tola, the sonne of Puah, the sone of Dodo, a man of Issachar, which dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.
Et après Abimélech s'éleva, pour délivrer Israël, Thola, fils de Puali, fils de Dodo, homme d'Issaschar, lequel habitait Samir dans la montagne d'Ephraïm.
2 And he iudged Israel three and twentie yeere and dyed, and was buried in Shamir.
Et il jugea Israël pendant vingt-trois ans, puis il mourut et reçut la sépulture à Samir.
3 And after him arose Iair a Gileadite, and iudged Israel two and twenty yeere.
Et après lui s'éleva Jaïr de Galaad, qui jugea Israël pendant vingt-deux ans.
4 And he had thirtie sonnes that rode on thirtie assecolts, and they had thirtie cities, which are called Hauoth-Iair vnto this day, and are in the land of Gilead.
Et il avait trente fils qui montaient trente ânes poulains, et ils possédaient trente villes, qu'on appelle encore aujourd'hui Bourgs de Jaïr, et elles sont dans le pays de Galaad.
5 And Iair dyed, and was buried in Kamon.
Et Jaïr étant mort reçut la sépulture à Kamon.
6 And the children of Israel wrought wickednesse againe in the sight of the Lord, and serued Baalim and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistims, and forsooke the Lord and serued not him.
Et les enfants d'Israël continuèrent à faire ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel et ils servirent les Baals et les Astartés et les dieux de Syrie et les dieux de Sidon et les dieux de Moab et les dieux des Ammonites et les dieux des Philistins, et abandonnèrent l'Éternel et son service.
7 Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he solde them into the hands of the Philistims, and into the handes of the children of Ammon:
Et la colère de l'Éternel s'alluma contre les Israélites et Il les vendit entre les mains des Philistins et les mains des Ammonites.
8 Who from that yere vexed and oppressed the children of Israel eighteene yeres, euen all the children of Israel that were beyond Iorden, in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
Et ils tourmentèrent et écrasèrent les enfants d'Israël cette année-là, et pendant dix-huit ans tous les enfants d'Israël habitant au delà du Jourdain dans le pays des Amoréens en Galaad.
9 Moreouer, the children of Ammon went ouer Iorden to fight against Iudah, and against Beniamin, and against the house of Ephraim: so that Israel was sore tormented.
Et les Ammonites passèrent le Jourdain pour attaquer aussi Juda et Benjamin et la maison d'Ephraïm. Et Israël fut serré de très près.
10 Then the children of Israel cryed vnto the Lord, saying, We haue sinned against thee, euen because we haue forsaken our owne God, and haue serued Baalim.
Alors les enfants d'Israël crièrent vers l'Éternel, disant: Nous avons péché contre toi, en abandonnant notre Dieu et en servant les Baals.
11 And the Lord sayd vnto the children of Israel, Did not I deliuer you from the Egyptians and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon and from the Philistims?
Et l'Éternel dit aux enfants d'Israël: Ne vous avais-je pas délivrés des Égyptiens et des Amoréens, des Ammonites et des Philistins,
12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites did oppresse you, and ye cryed to me and I saued you out of their hands.
et, lorsque les Sidoniens, Amalek et Maon, vous opprimèrent, et que vous avez crié vers moi, ne vous ai-je pas sauvés de leurs mains?
13 Yet ye haue forsaken me, and serued other gods: wherefore I will deliuer you no more.
Mais vous, vous m'avez abandonné et vous avez servi d'autres dieux. C'est pourquoi je ne continuerai pas de vous délivrer.
14 Goe, and cry vnto the gods which ye haue chosen: let them saue you in the time of your tribulation.
Allez et adressez vos cris aux dieux dont vous avez fait choix! qu'ils vous délivrent au moment de votre détresse.
15 And the children of Israel sayde vnto the Lord, We haue sinned: doe thou vnto vs whatsoeuer please thee: onely we pray thee to deliuer vs this day.
Et les enfants d'Israël dirent à l'Éternel: Nous avons péché: traite-nous comme il te semblera bon; seulement, oh! sauve-nous aujourd'hui!
16 Then they put away the strange gods from among them and serued the Lord: and his soule was grieued for the miserie of Israel.
Et ils firent disparaître du milieu d'eux les dieux de l'étranger et ils servirent l'Éternel. Alors Son âme ne put être indifférente aux tribulations d'Israël.
17 Then the children of Ammon gathered themselues together, and pitched in Gilead: and the children of Israel assembled themselues, and pitched in Mizpeh.
Et les Ammonites se rassemblèrent et campèrent en Galaad, et les enfants d'Israël se réunirent et campèrent à Mitspa.
18 And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, Whosoeuer will beginne the battell against the children of Ammon, the same shall be head ouer all the inhabitants of Gilead.
Alors le peuple, les princes de Galaad se dirent l'un à l'autre: Quel est l'homme qui commencera l'attaque des Ammonites? il deviendra le chef de tous les habitants de Galaad.
