Joshua 1
1 Nowe after the death of Moses the seruant of the Lord, the Lord spake vnto Ioshua the sonne of Nun, Moses minister, saying,
Nach dem Tode Moses, des Knechtes Jahwes, aber sprach Jahwe zu Josua, dem Sohne Nuns, dem Diener Moses, also:
2 Moses my seruant is dead: nowe therefore arise, go ouer this Iorden, thou, and all this people, vnto the lande which I giue them, that is, to ye children of Israel.
Nun, da mein Knecht Mose gestorben ist, so brich du auf und ziehe mit diesem ganzen Volk über den Jordan da hinüber in das Land, das ich ihnen, den Israeliten, verleihen will.
3 Euery place that the sole of your foote shall treade vpon, haue I giuen you, as I said vnto Moses.
Eine jegliche Stätte, die eure Fußsohle betreten wird, will ich euch verleihen, wie ich es Mose verheißen habe.
4 From the wildernesse and this Lebanon euen vnto the great riuer, the riuer Perath: all the land of the Hittites, euen vnto the great Sea towarde the going downe of the sunne, shalbe your coast.
Von der Steppe an und dem Libanon dort bis an den großen Strom, den Euphratstrom, das ganze Land der Hethiter, bis zum großen Meer im Westen soll euer Gebiet reichen.
5 There shall not a man be able to withstande thee all the dayes of thy life: as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not leaue thee, nor forsake thee.
Niemand wird vor dir standhalten können dein Leben lang. Wie ich mit Mose gewesen bin, will ich auch mit dir sein; ich will meine Hand nicht von dir abziehen und dich nicht im Stiche lassen.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for vnto this people shalt thou deuide the lande for an inheritance, which I sware vnto their fathers to giue them.
Sei fest und thatkräftig; denn du sollst an dieses Volk dieses Land, dessen Verleihung ich ihren Vätern zugeschworen habe, als Erbbesitz verteilen.
7 Onely be thou strong, and of a most valiant courage, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all the Lawe which Moses my seruant hath commanded thee: thou shalt not turne away from it to the right hande, nor to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoeuer thou goest.
Sei nur fest und eifrigst darauf bedacht, pünktlich, gemäß dem ganzen Gesetze, das mein Knecht Mose dir anbefohlen hat, zu handeln; weiche davon nicht ab weder nach rechts, noch nach links, damit du weislich handeltst in allem, was du unternimmst.
8 Let not this booke of the Law depart out of thy mouth, but meditate therin day and night, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all that is written therein: for then shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and then shalt thou haue good successe.
Beständig sollst du dieses Gesetzbuch im Munde führen und ihm nachsinnen Tag und Nacht, damit du darauf bedacht seist, alles zu halten, was darin aufgezeichnet ist; dann wirst du deine Unternehmungen glücklich vollführen und weislich handeln.
9 Haue not I commanded thee, saying, Be strong and of a good courage, feare not, nor be discouraged? for I the Lord thy God will be with thee, whithersoeuer thou goest.
Habe ich dir ja doch anbefohlen: Sei fest und thatkräftig! Sei ohne Furcht und unverzagt, denn Jahwe, dein Gott, ist mit dir bei allem, was du unternimmst.
10 Then Ioshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
Da gab Josua den Amtleuten des Volks folgenden Befehl:
11 Passe through the hoste, and commande the people, saying, Prepare you vitailes: for after three dayes ye shall passe ouer this Iorden, to goe in to possesse the lande, which the Lord your God giueth you to possesse it.
Geht durch das Lager hindurch und befehlt dem Volke: Macht euch Mundvorrat zurecht; denn wenn drei Tage um sind, sollt ihr den Jordan da überschreiten, um einzuziehen und das Land in Besitz zu nehmen, das euch Jahwe, euer Gott, zum Besitze geben will.
12 And vnto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to halfe the tribe of Manasseh spake Ioshua, saying,
Zu den Rubeniten, Gaditen und dem halben Stamme Manasse aber sprach Josua also:
13 Remember the worde, which Moses the seruant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath giuen you rest, and hath giuen you this land.
Seid dessen eingedenk, was euch Mose, der Knecht Jahwes befohlen hat, da er sagte: Jahwe, euer Gott, hat euch an euren Bestimmungsort gebracht und euch dieses Land verliehen.
14 Your wiues, your children, and your cattell shall remaine in the land which Moses gaue you on this side Iorden: but ye shall goe ouer before your brethren armed, all that be men of warre, and shall helpe them,
Eure Weiber, eure kleinen Kinder und euer Vieh sollen in dem Lande bleiben, das euch Mose jenseits des Jordan angewiesen hat; ihr aber, sämtliche streitbare Männer, sollt kampfgerüstet vor euren Volksgenossen einherziehen und ihnen Hilfe leisten,
15 Vntill the Lord haue giuen your brethren rest, as well as to you, and vntill they also shall possesse the land, which the Lord your God giueth them: then shall ye returne vnto the lande of your possession and shall possesse it, which land Moses the Lordes seruant gaue you on this side Iorden toward the sunne rising.
bis Jahwe auch eure Volksgenossen, gerade so wie euch, an ihren Bestimmungsort gebracht hat, und auch sie das Land, das ihnen Jahwe, ihr Gott, verleihen will, eingenommen haben. Dann sollt ihr in das Land, das euer Eigentum ist, zurückkehren und es in Besitz nehmen; denn Mose, der Knecht Jahwes, hat es euch ja jenseits des Jordan im Osten angewiesen.
16 Then they answered Ioshua, saying, Al that thou hast commanded vs, we will doe, and whithersoeuer thou sendest vs, we will goe.
Da erwiderten sie Josua also: Alles, was du uns befiehlst, wollen wir thun, und wohin du uns ziehen heißest, wollen wir ziehen!
17 As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee: onely the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
Wie wir Mose in allen Stücken gehorcht haben, so wollen wir auch dir gehorchen, wenn nur Jahwe, dein Gott, mit dir ist, wie er mit Mose war.
18 Whosoeuer shall rebell against thy commandement, and will not obey thy wordes in all that thou commaundest him, let him bee put to death: onely be strong and of good courage.
Ein jeder, der deinem Befehle zuwider handelt und deinen Anweisungen nicht gehorcht, in allem, was du uns gebietest, soll mit dem Tode bestraft werden; nur sei fest und thatkräftig!
