Joshua 8
1 After, the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, Feare not, neither bee thou faint hearted: take all the men of warre with thee and arise, go vp to Ai: beholde, I haue giuen into thine hand the King of Ai, and his people, and his citie, and his land.
Und Jehovah sprach zu Joschua: Fürchte dich nicht und entsetze dich nicht. Nimm alles Kriegsvolk mit dir und mache dich auf und zieh hinauf nach Ai. Siehe, Ich habe den König von Ai und sein Volk und seine Stadt und sein Land in deine Hand gegeben.
2 And thou shalt doe to Ai and to the King thereof, as thou didst vnto Iericho and to the King thereof: neuerthelesse the spoyle thereof and the cattell thereof shall ye take vnto you for a praye: thou shalt lye in wait against the citie on the backside thereof.
Und du sollst mit Ai und seinem Könige tun, wie du mit Jericho und seinem Könige getan, nur möget ihr ihre Beute und ihr Vieh für euch rauben. Lege dir einen Hinterhalt für die Stadt hinter ihr.
3 Then Ioshua arose, and all the men of warre to goe vp against Ai: and Ioshua chose out thirtie thousand strong men, and valiant, and sent them away by night.
Und Joschua machte sich auf und alles Kriegsvolk, um nach Ai hinaufzuziehen. Und Joschua erwählte sich dreißigtausend Mann, Helden der Tapferkeit, und sandte sie ab in der Nacht;
4 And he commanded them, saying, Behold, yee shall lye in waite against the citie on the backeside of the citie: goe not very farre from the citie, but be ye all in a readinesse.
Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Sehet, ihr sollt wider die Stadt im Hinterhalte liegen hinter der Stadt. Entfernt euch nicht zu sehr von der Stadt, und seid allesamt bereit.
5 And I and all the people that are with me, will approche vnto the citie: and when they shall come out against vs, as they did at the first time, then will we flee before them.
Ich aber und alles Volk, das mit mir ist, wir werden uns der Stadt nähern, und wenn sie ausgehen uns entgegen wie zuerst, so werden wir vor ihnen fliehen.
6 For they wil come out after vs, till we haue brought them out of the citie: for they will say, They flee before vs as at the first time: so we will flee before them.
Und sie werden ausziehen uns nach, bis wir sie von der Stadt abgezogen haben; denn sie werden sagen: Sie fliehen vor uns, wie zuerst. Und wir werden fliehen vor ihnen.
7 Then you shall rise vp from lying in waite and destroy the citie: for the Lord your God wil deliuer it into your hand.
Ihr aber machet euch aus dem Hinterhalte auf und nehmt die Stadt ein. Und Jehovah, euer Gott, wird sie in eure Hand geben.
8 And when ye haue taken the citie, ye shall set it on fire: according to the commandement of the Lord shall ye do: behold, I haue charged you.
Und es geschehe, wenn ihr die Stadt gewonnen habt, dann sollt ihr die Stadt mit Feuer anzünden; nach dem Worte Jehovahs sollt ihr tun. Sehet, ich habe es euch geboten.
9 Ioshua then sent them foorth, and they went to lye in waite, and abode betweene Beth-el and Ai, on the Westside of Ai: but Ioshua lodged that night among the people.
Und Joschua entließ sie und sie gingen in den Hinterhalt und blieben zwischen Bethel und Ai auf der Meerseite von Ai. Und Joschua blieb über Nacht inmitten des Volkes in dieser Nacht.
10 And Ioshua rose vp early in the morning, and nombred the people: and he and the Elders of Israel went vp before the people against Ai.
Und am Morgen stand Joschua früh auf, und musterte das Volk und zog hinauf, er und die Ältesten Jehovahs vor dem Volke nach Ai hinauf;
11 Also all the men of warre that were with him went vp and drewe neere, and came against the citie, and pitched on the Northside of Ai: and there was a valley betweene them and Ai.
Und alles Kriegsvolk, das mit ihm war, zog hinauf, und sie traten herzu und kamen der Stadt gegenüber, und lagerten gen Mitternacht von Ai, und das Tal war zwischen ihm und Ai.
12 And hee tooke about fiue thousande men, and set them to lye in waite betweene Beth-el and Ai, on the Westside of the citie.
Und er nahm bei fünftausend Mann und legte sie zwischen Bethel und Ai auf der Meerseite von Ai in Hinterhalt.
13 And the people set all the hoste that was on the Northside against the citie, and the liers in waite on the West, against the citie: and Ioshua went the same night into the mids of the valley.
Und so stellten sie das Volk, das ganze Lager, das gegen Mitternacht von der Stadt war, daß der hintere Teil auf der Meerseite der Stadt war, und Jehoschua zog in jener Nacht in die Mitte des Talgrundes.
14 And when the King of Ai sawe it, then the men of the citie hasted and rose vp earely, and went out against Israel to battell, hee and all his people at the time appointed, before the plaine: for he knew not that any lay in waite against him on the backeside of the citie.
Und es geschah, als der König von Ai es sah, eilten die Männer von der Stadt und standen früh auf und zogen aus, Israel entgegen, zum Streite, er und all sein Volk, zur bestimmten Zeit vor das Flachland; er wußte aber nicht, daß hinter der Stadt ein Hinterhalt gegen ihn war.
15 Then Ioshua and all Israel as beaten before them, fled by the way of the wildernes.
Und Jehoschua und ganz Israel wurden geschlagen vor ihnen, und sie flohen auf dem Wege nach der Wüste.
16 And all the people of the citie were called together, to pursue after them: and they pursued after Ioshua, and were drawen away out of the city,
Und sie riefen alles Volk in der Stadt, hinter ihnen nachzusetzen, und sie setzten hinter dem Joschua nach und wurden von der Stadt abgezogen.
17 So that there was not a man left in Ai, nor in Beth-el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the citie open, and pursued after Israel.
Und kein Mann verblieb in Ai und Bethel, der nicht ausgezogen wäre, hinter Israel her; und sie ließen die Stadt geöffnet und setzten hinter Israel nach.
18 Then the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Stretch out the speare that is in thine hande, towarde Ai: for I wil giue it into thine hand: and Ioshua stretched out the speare that hee had in his hand, toward the citie.
Und Jehovah sprach zu Joschua: Recke den Wurfspieß in deiner Hand wider Ai aus; denn Ich will sie in deine Hand geben. Und Joschua reckte den Wurfspieß, den er in seiner Hand hatte, wider die Stadt aus.
19 And they that lay in wait, arose quickly out of their place, and ranne as soone as he had stretched out his hand, and they entred into the citie, and tooke it, and hasted, and set the citie on fire.
Und der Hinterhalt stand eilig auf von seinem Orte und sie liefen, wie er seine Hand ausreckte, und kamen in die Stadt und eroberten sie; und sie eilten und steckten die Stadt mit Feuer an.
20 And the men of Ai looked behinde them, and sawe it: for loe, the smoke of the citie ascended vp to heauen, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: for the people that fled to the wildernesse, turned backe vpon the pursuers.
Und die Männer von Ai wandten sich um hinter sich und sahen, und siehe, der Rauch der Stadt stieg gen Himmel auf, und sie hatten nicht, wohin sie fliehen sollten, dahin oder dorthin, und das Volk, das nach der Wüste geflohen war, kehrte um wider die, so ihnen nachgesetzt hatten.
21 When Ioshua and all Israel sawe that they that lay in waite, had taken the citie, and that the smoke of the citie mounted vp, then they turned againe and slewe the men of Ai.
Und Joschua und ganz Israel sahen, daß der Hinterhalt die Stadt erobert hatte und daß der Rauch der Stadt aufging, und sie kehrten um und schlugen die Männer von Ai.
22 Also the other issued out of the citie against them: so were they in the middes of Israel, these being on the one side, and the rest on the other side: and they slewe them, so that they let none of them remaine nor escape.
Und jene gingen aus der Stadt ihnen entgegen, so daß sie mitten zwischen Israel waren, die einen von hier und die anderen dorther; und sie schlugen sie, bis daß ihnen kein Rest verblieb, noch einer entkam.
23 And the King of Ai they tooke aliue, and brought him to Ioshua.
Und den König von Ai erfaßten sie lebendig und ließen ihn dem Joschua nahen.
24 And when Israel had made an ende of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the fielde, that is, in the wildernesse, where they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sworde, vntill they were consumed, all the Israelites returned vnto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sworde.
Und da Israel alle Einwohner von Ai auf dem Felde in der Wüste, wohin sie ihnen nachsetzten, vollends erwürgt hatte, und alle durch die Schärfe des Schwertes gefallen, so daß sie alle waren, da kehrte ganz Israel nach Ai zurück und sie schlugen es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
25 And all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelue thousande, euen all the men of Ai.
Und alle, die an jenem Tage gefallen waren, vom Manne bis zum Weibe, waren zwölftausend, alle Leute von Ai.
26 For Ioshua drewe not his hande backe againe which he had stretched out with the speare, vntill hee had vtterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.
Und Joschua zog seine Hand, damit er den Wurfspieß ausreckte, nicht zurück, bis daß er alle Einwohner von Ai verbannt hatte.
27 Onely the cattell and the spoyle of this citie, Israel tooke for a praye vnto themselues, according vnto the worde of the Lord, which hee commanded Ioshua.
Nur das Vieh und die Beute dieser Stadt nahm Israel als Raub für sich, nach dem Worte Jehovahs, das Er dem Joschua geboten hatte.
28 And Ioshua burnt Ai, and made it an heape for euer, and a wildernes vnto this day.
Und Ai verbrannte Joschua und machte es zu einem ewiglichen Schutthaufen, zur Verwüstung, bis auf diesen Tag.
29 And the King of Ai hee hanged on a tree, vnto the euening. And as soone as the sunne was down, Ioshua commanded that they should take his carkeis downe from the tree, and cast it at the entring of ye gate of the city, and lay thereon a great heape of stones, that remaineth vnto this day.
Und den König von Ai hängte er an einem Baume auf bis zur Zeit des Abends, und da die Sonne unterging, gebot Joschua, daß sie seinen Leichnam vom Baume abnehmen und an den Eingang des Stadttores werfen sollten. Und sie richteten einen großen Steinhaufen über ihm, bis auf diesen Tag.
30 Then Ioshua built an altar vnto the Lord God of Israel, in mount Ebal,
Nun baute Joschua Jehovah, dem Gotte Israels einen Altar auf dem Berge Ebal,
31 As Moses the seruant of the Lord had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, an altar of whole stone, ouer which no man had lift an yron: and they offered thereon burnt offrings vnto the Lord, and sacrificed peace offerings.
Wie Mose, der Knecht Jehovahs, den Söhnen Israels geboten hatte, wie geschrieben ist im Gesetzbuche Moses: einen Altar von ganzen Steinen, über die kein Eisen geschwungen ward, und sie opferten darauf Jehovah Brandopfer und schlachteten Dankopfer.
32 Also he wrote there vpon the stones, a rehearsall of the Lawe of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
Und allda schrieb er auf die Steine eine Abschrift des Gesetzes Moses, das er vor den Söhnen Israels geschrieben hatte.
33 And all Israel (and their Elders, and officers and their iudges stoode on this side of the Arke, and on that side, before the Priestes of the Leuites, which bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord) as well the stranger, as he that is borne in the countrey: halfe of them were ouer against mount Gerizim, and halfe of them ouer against mount Ebal, as Moses the seruant of the Lord had commanded before, that they should blesse the people of Israel.
Und ganz Israel und seine Ältesten und Vorsteher und seine Richter standen auf beiden Seiten der Lade, gegenüber den Priestern, den Leviten, so die Bundeslade Jehovahs trugen, wie der Fremdling so der Eingeborene; die eine Hälfte gegenüber dem Berge Gerissim, und die andere Hälfte dem Berge Ebal gegenüber, wie Mose, der Knecht Jehovahs, zuerst geboten hatte, das Volk Israel zu segnen.
34 Then afterwarde hee read all the wordes of the Lawe, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the booke of the Lawe.
Und danach las er alle Worte des Gesetzes, den Segen und den Fluch, wie alles geschrieben ist im Buche des Gesetzes.
35 There was not a worde of all that Moses had commanded, which Ioshua read not before all the Congregation of Israel, as well before the women and the children, as the stranger that was conuersant among them.
Da war kein Wort von allem, das Mose geboten hatte, das Joschua nicht las in Gegenwart der ganzen Versammlung Israels und den Weibern und Kindlein und dem Fremdling, der in ihrer Mitte wandelte.
