Joshua 7
1 But the children of Israel committed a trespasse in the excommunicate thing: for Achan the sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iuda tooke of the excommunicate thing: wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.
ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರದ ಜೆರಹನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ, ಜಿಮ್ರಿಯ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಕರ್ಮೀಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಆಕಾನನು ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ಕದ್ದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಕೋಪವು ಉರಿಯಿತು.
2 And Ioshua sent men from Iericho to Ai, which is beside Bethauen, on ye East side of Bethel, and spake vnto them, saying, Goe vp, and view the countrey. And ye men went vp, and viewed Ai,
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ನೀವು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಂಚರಿಸಿ ಸುತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನಿಂದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಬೇತೇಲಿನ ಪೂರ್ವದಕಡೆ ಬೇತಾವೆನಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಹೋಗಿ ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿ ಬಂದರು.
3 And returned to Ioshua, and saide vnto him, Let not al the people go vp, but let as it were two or three thousand men go vp, and smite Ai, and make not al the people to labour thither, for they are fewe.
ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೋಗುವ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಅಥವಾ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಹೋದರೆ ಸಾಕು. ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ದಣಿಸಬೇಡ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
4 So there went vp thither of the people about three thousande men, and they fledde before the men of Ai.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಲಾಗದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
5 And the men of Ai smote of them vpon a thirtie and sixe men: for they chased them from before the gate vnto Shebarim, and smote them in the going downe: wherfore the heartes of the people melted away like water.
ಆಯಿ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣದವರು ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮೂವತ್ತಾರು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು. ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಶೆಬಾರಿಮಿನವರೆಗೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯವು ಕರಗಿ ನೀರಿನಂತಾಯಿತು.
6 Then Ioshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth vpon his face before the Arke of the Lord, vntill the euentide, he, and the Elders of Israel, and put dust vpon their heads.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ತನ್ನ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಧೂಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಂಜೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದರು.
7 And Ioshua said, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore hast thou brought this people ouer Iorden, to deliuer vs into the hande of the Amorites, and to destroye vs? would God we had bene content to dwell on the other side Iorden.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು, “ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀವು ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿ ದಾಟಿಸಿದ್ದು ಏಕೆ? ನಾವು ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ನದಿ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಾಗಿತ್ತು.
8 Oh Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turne their backes before their enemies?
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ಈಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿಸಿದರಲ್ಲಾ. ನಾನು ಏನು ಹೇಳಲಿ.
9 For the Canaanites, and all the inhabitants of the land shall heare of it, and shall compasse vs, and destroy our name out of the earth: and what wilt thou doe vnto thy mightie Name?
ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರೂ ದೇಶವಾಸಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ನಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡುವರು, ಆಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಹತ್ತಾದ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡುವಿರಿ?” ಎಂದನು.
10 And the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Get thee vp: wherefore lyest thou thus vpon thy face?
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಎದ್ದೇಳು, ನೀನು ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವುದೇನು?
11 Israel hath sinned, and they haue transgressed my couenant, which I commanded them: for they haue euen taken of the excommunicate thing, and haue also stollen, and dissembled also, and haue put it euen with their owne stuffe.
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ತಮಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದರು. ಅವರು ಅರ್ಪಿತವಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವೊಂದನ್ನು ಕಳವು ಮಾಡಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ವಂಚನೆಮಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಲಕರಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
12 Therefore ye children of Israel cannot stand before their enemies, but haue turned their backes before their enemies, because they be execrable: neither will I bee with you any more, except ye destroy the excommunicate from among you.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ನಾಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾತ್ರರಾದರು. ನೀವು ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೀಡಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ನಾಶಮಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ, ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
13 Vp therefore, sanctifie the people, and say, Sanctifie your selues against to morowe: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an execrable thing among you, O Israel, therefore ye cannot stand against your enemies, vntill ye haue put the execrable thing from among you.
“ನೀನು ಎದ್ದು ಜನರನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಿಸಿ, ನಾಳೆಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ‘ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾದದ್ದು ಉಂಟು, ಅದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವವರೆಗೂ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರೆ,’ ಎಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
14 In the morning therefore ye shall come according to your tribes, and the tribe which the Lord taketh, shall come according to the families: and the familie which the Lord shall take, shall come by the housholds: and the houshold which the Lord shall take, shall come man by man.
“‘ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಸೇರಿ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಗೋತ್ರವು ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಮನೆಮನೆಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೇರಲಿ.
15 And he that is taken with the excommunicate thing, shall be burnt with fire, hee, and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the couenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
ಆಗ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೀಡಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡವನೆಂದು ಹಿಡಿಯಲಾಗುವನು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನೂ ಅವನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಮಸ್ತವೂ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡಲಾಗಬೇಕು, ಎಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳು,’ ಎಂದರು.”
16 So Ioshua rose vp earely in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes: and the tribe of Iudah was taken.
ಮರುದಿನ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನು ಗೋತ್ರ ಗೋತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕರೆದಾಗ, ಯೆಹೂದ ಗೋತ್ರವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.
17 And he brought the families of Iudah, and tooke the familie of the Zarhites, and he brought the familie of the Zarhites, man by man, and Zabdi was taken.
ಅವನು ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾಗ, ಜೆರಹನ ಗೋತ್ರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಜೆರಹನ ಗೋತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕರೆದಾಗ ಜಿಮ್ರಿಯು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡಿತು.
18 And he brought his houshold, man by man, and Achan ye sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iudah was take.
ಅವನ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಾಗಿ, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಜಿಮ್ರಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಕರ್ಮೀಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಆಕಾನನೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದವನೂ ಜೆರಹನ ಗೋತ್ರದವನೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದನು.
19 Then Ioshua said vnto Achan, My sonne, I beseech thee, giue glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession vnto him, and shewe me now what thou hast done: hide it not from me.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆಕಾನನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನೀನು ಈಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಘನಪಡಿಸಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸು. ಏನು ಮಾಡಿದೆಯೋ ಅದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು, ನನಗೆ ಮರೆಮಾಡಬೇಡ,” ಎಂದನು.
20 And Achan answered Ioshua, and saide, In deede, I haue sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and thus, and thus haue I done.
ಆಕಾನನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿ, ಇಂಥಿಂಥವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
21 I sawe among the spoyle a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundreth shekels of siluer, and a wedge of golde of fiftie shekels weight, and I coueted them, and tooke them: and behold, they lye hid in the earth in the mids of my tent, and the siluer vnder it.
ನಾನು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಶಿನಾರ್ ದೇಶದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಎರಡು ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ತೂಕದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಧ ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ತೂಕದ ಒಂದು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಗುಡಾರದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲದೊಳಗೆ ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯೂ ಅದರ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಇದೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
22 Then Ioshua sent messengers, which ran vnto the tent, and beholde, it was hid in his tent, and the siluer vnder it.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ಡೇರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿದರು. ಆ ಡೇರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂತಿಟ್ಟವುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದರು. ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯು ಅದರ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮರೆಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
23 Therefore they tooke them out of the tent, and brought them vnto Ioshua, and vnto all the children of Israel, and layd them before the Lord.
ಅವರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಡೇರೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಬಳಿಗೂ ತಂದು, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಇಟ್ಟರು.
24 Then Ioshua tooke Achan the sonne of Zerah, and the siluer, and the garment and the wedge of golde and his sonnes, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheepe, and his tent, and all that hee had: and all Israel with him brought them vnto the valley of Achor.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಅವನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಜೆರಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಆಕಾನನನ್ನೂ ಆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನೂ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಪುತ್ರಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಎತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಡೇರೆಯನ್ನೂ ಅವನಿಗಿದ್ದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಆಕೋರಿನ ಕಣಿವೆಗೆ ತಂದರು.
25 And Ioshua said, In as much as thou hast troubled vs, the Lord shall trouble thee this day: and all Israel threwe stones at him, and burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನು? ಇಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಸಂಕಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸುವರು,” ಎಂದನು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದರು. ಕಲ್ಲೆಸೆದ ತರುವಾಯ ಉಳಿದವರನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟು,
26 And they cast vpon him a great heape of stones vnto this day: and so the Lord turned from his fierce wrath: therefore hee called the name of that place, The valley of Achor, vnto this day.
ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲುಕುಪ್ಪೆ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು. ಅದು ಈ ದಿನದವರೆಗೂ ಇದೆ. ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೋಪದ ಉರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರುಗಿದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳವು ಈವರೆಗೂ ಆಕೋರಿನ ಕಣಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
