Joshua 6
1 Now Iericho was shut vp, and closed, because of the children of Israel: none might go out nor enter in.
Jericó tenía bien atrancadas las puertas por miedo a los hijos de Israel; nadie podía salir ni entrar.
2 And the Lord saide vnto Ioshua, Behold, I haue giuen into thine hand Iericho and the King thereof, and the strong men of warre.
Entonces dijo Yahvé a Josué: “Mira, Yo he entregado en tus manos a Jericó y su rey y sus valientes de guerra.
3 All ye therefore that be men of warre, shall compasse the citie, in going round about the citie once: thus shall you doe sixe dayes:
Dad una vuelta a la ciudad haciendo un giro en torno a ella, todos los hombres de guerra. Así haréis por seis días,
4 And seuen Priests shall beare seuen trumpets of rams hornes before the Arke: and the seuenth day ye shall compasse the citie seuen times, and the Priests shall blow with the trumpets.
llevando siete sacerdotes siete trompetas de cuernos de carnero delante del Arca. Mas al día séptimo daréis la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces y los sacerdotes tocarán las trompetas.
5 And when they make a long blast with the rams horne, and ye heare the sound of the trumpet, al the people shall shoute with a great shoute: then shall the wall of the citie fall downe flat, and the people shall ascend vp, euery man streight before him.
Y cuando ellos saquen del cuerno de carnero sonidos más continuados, y vosotros oigáis su sonido, todo el pueblo gritará con grande algazara, y se derrumbara la muralla de la ciudad, y subirá el pueblo cada uno por la parte que tenga delante.”
6 Then, Ioshua the sonne of Nun called the Priests and said vnto them, Take vp the Arke of the couenant, and let seuen Priests beare seuen trumpets of rams hornes before the Arke of the Lord.
Entonces llamó Josué, hijo de Nun, a los sacerdotes y les dijo: “Llevad el Arca de la Alianza, y siete sacerdotes vayan con siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del Arca de Yahvé.”
7 But he said vnto the people, Goe and compasse the citie: and let him that is armed, go forth before the Arke of the Lord.
Al pueblo le dijo: “Pasad y dad vuelta a la ciudad; y los hombres armados marcharán delante del Arca de Yahvé.”
8 And when Ioshua had spoken vnto the people, the seuen Priestes bare the seuen trumpets of rams hornes, and went foorth before the Arke of the Lord, and blew with the trumpets, and the Arke of the couenant of ye Lord followed them.
Luego que Josué hubo dado esta orden al pueblo, los siete sacerdotes con las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero marchaban delante de Yahvé y comenzaron a tocar las trompetas, mientras el Arca de la Alianza de Yahvé seguía tras ellos.
9 And the men of armes went before the Priestes, that blewe the trumpets: then the gathering hoste came after the Arke, as they went and blewe the trumpets.
Al frente de los sacerdotes que tocaban las trompetas marchaban los hombres armados, y el resto del pueblo iba tras el Arca. Y mientras caminaban resonaron las trompetas.
10 (Nowe Ioshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall nor shout, neither make any noyse with your voyce, neither shall a worde proceede out of your mouth, vntill the day that I say vnto you, Shout, then shall ye shoute)
Josué había mandado al pueblo, diciendo: “No gritéis, ni dejéis oír vuestra voz, ni salga de vuestra boca palabra alguna hasta el día en que yo os diga: ¡Gritad! Entonces gritaréis.”
11 So the Arke of the Lord compassed the citie, and went about it once: then they returned into the hoaste, and lodged in the campe.
Hizo que el Arca de Yahvé diera la vuelta a la ciudad, rodeándola una sola vez; y volviéndose al campamento pasaron allí la noche.
12 And Ioshua rose early in the morning, and the Priestes bare the Arke of the Lord:
Al día siguiente Josué se levantó muy temprano, y los sacerdotes llevaron el Arca de Yahvé.
13 Also seuen Priests bare seuen trumpets of rams hornes, and went before the Arke of the Lord, and going blewe with the trumpets: and the men of armes went before them, but the gathering hoste came after the Arke of the Lord, as they went and blewe the trumpets.
Los siete sacerdotes que llevaban las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero marchaban delante del Arca de Yahvé, tocando las trompetas. Los hombres armados iban delante de ellos, y el resto del pueblo seguía tras el Arca de Yahvé, y durante la marcha resonaban las trompetas.
14 And the second day they compassed the citie once, and returned into the host: thus they did sixe dayes.
Asimismo dieron una vuelta a la ciudad el segundo día y se volvieron al campamento. Eso mismo hicieron por seis días.
15 And when the seuenth day came, they rose early, euen with the dawning of the day, and compassed the citie after ye same maner seuen times: only that day they compassed the citie seuen times.
Al séptimo día se levantaron muy temprano, al despuntar el alba, y de la misma manera dieron siete veces la vuelta a la ciudad; solo aquel día dieron la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces.
16 And when the Priests had blowen ye trumpets the seuenth time, Ioshua said vnto ye people, Shoute: for the Lord hath giuen you the citie.
Y cuando a la séptima vez los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas, dijo Josué al pueblo: “¡Gritad, pues Yahvé os ha entregado la ciudad!
17 And the citie shalbe an execrable thing, both it, and all that are therein, vnto the Lord: onely Rahab the harlot shall liue, shee, and all that are with her in the house: for shee hid the messengers that we sent.
Y será la ciudad anatema para Yahvé, ella, y cuanto hubiere en ella. Solamente Rahab, la ramera, vivirá, ella y todos los que se hallen con ella en su casa, por cuanto escondió a los exploradores que habíamos enviado.
18 Notwithstanding, be ye ware of the execrable thing, lest ye make your selues execrable, and in taking of the execrable thing, make also the hoste of Israel execrable, and trouble it.
Pero guardaos bien de lo consagrado al anatema, no sea que apropiándoos cosa alguna consagrada al anatema, os hagáis anatema, y hagáis anatema también el campamento de Israel y lo llevéis a la perdición.
19 But all siluer, and gold, and vessels of brasse, and yron shalbe consecrate vnto the Lord, and shall come into the Lordes treasury.
Toda la plata, todo el oro, y todos los objetos de bronce y de hierro, serán consagrados a Yahvé y han de entrar al tesoro de Yahvé.”
20 So the people shouted, whe they had blowen trumpets: for when the people had heard the sound of the trumpet, they shouted with a great shoute: and the wall fel downe flat: so the people went vp into the citie, euery man streight before him: and they tooke the citie.
Entonces el pueblo levantó el grito, y resonaban las trompetas. Y cuando el pueblo oyó el sonido de la trompeta, comenzó a gritar con grande algazara, y se derrumbó la muralla, y el pueblo subió a la ciudad, cada uno por la parte que tenía frente a sí, y tomaron la ciudad.
21 And they vtterly destroyed all that was in the citie, both man and woman, yong, and olde, and oxe, and sheepe, and asse, with the edge of the sword.
Y consagraron al anatema cuanto había en la ciudad, hombres y mujeres, niños y viejos, bueyes, ovejas y asnos.
22 But Ioshua had said vnto the two men that had spied out the countrey, Go into the harlots house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware to her.
Entonces Josué dijo a aquellos dos hombres que habían explorado el país: “Entrad en casa de la ramera y sacad de allí a la mujer con todos los suyos, conforme se lo jurasteis.”
23 So the yong men that were spies, went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that shee had: also they brought out all her familie, and put them without the host of Israel.
Entraron los jóvenes, los espías, y sacaron a Rahab, a su padre, a su madre, a sus hermanos y a todos los suyos. Sacaron a todos los de su familia y los metieron en un lugar fuera del campamento de Israel.
24 After they burnt the citie with fire, and all that was therein: onely the siluer and the gold, and the vessels of brasse and yron, they put vnto the treasure of the house of the Lord.
Después abrasaron la ciudad con cuanto en ella había, menos la plata y el oro y los objetos de bronce y de hierro, que pusieron en el tesoro de la Casa de Yahvé.
25 So Ioshua saued Rahab the harlot, and her fathers houshold, and all that shee had; and shee dwelt in Israel euen vnto this day, because shee had hid the messengers, which Ioshua sent to spie out Iericho.
Mas conservó Josué la vida a Rahab la ramera y a la casa de su padre y a todos los suyos. Ella habita en medio de Israel hasta el día de hoy por haber ocultado a los mensajeros que Josué había enviado para espiar a Jericó.
26 And Ioshua sware at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before ye Lord, that riseth vp, and buildeth this citie Iericho: hee shall lay the foundation thereof in his eldest sonne, and in his yongest sonne shall hee set vp the gates of it.
En aquel tiempo juró Josué diciendo: “¡Maldito ante Yahvé sea quien se atreva a reedificar esta ciudad de Jericó! Al precio de su primogénito eche los cimientos de ella y a costa de su hijo menor coloque sus puertas.”
27 So the Lord was with Ioshua, and he was famous through all the world.
De esta manera acompañó Yahvé a Josué, y su fama se divulgó por todo el país.
