Joshua 23
1 And a long season after that the Lord had giuen rest vnto Israel from all their enemies round about, and Ioshua was olde, and stricken in age,
E succedeu que, muitos dias depois que o Senhor déra repouso a Israel de todos os seus inimigos em redor, e Josué já fosse velho e entrado em dias,
2 Then Ioshua called all Israel, and their Elders, and their heads, and their iudges, and their officers, and said vnto them, I am old, and stricken in age.
Chamou Josué a todo o Israel, aos seus anciãos, e aos seus Cabeças, e aos seus juizes, e aos seus officiaes, e disse-lhes: Eu já sou velho e entrado em dias;
3 Also ye haue seene all that the Lord your God hath done vnto al these nations before you, howe the Lord your God him selfe hath fought for you.
E vós já tendes visto tudo quanto o Senhor vosso Deus fez a todas estas nações por causa de vós: porque o Senhor vosso Deus é o que pelejou por vós.
4 Beholde, I haue deuided vnto you by lot these nations that remaine, to be an inheritance according to your tribes, from Iorden, with all the nations that I haue destroyed, euen vnto the great Sea Westward.
Vêdes aqui que vos fiz cair em sorte ás vossas tribus estas nações que ficam desde o Jordão, com todas as nações que tenho destruido, até ao grande mar para o pôr do sol.
5 And the Lord your God shall expell them before you, and cast them out of your sight, and ye shall possesse their land, as the Lord your God hath said vnto you.
E o Senhor vosso Deus as empuxará de diante de vós, e as expellirá de diante de vós: e vós possuireis a sua terra, como o Senhor vosso Deus vos tem dito
6 Be ye therefore of a valiant courage, to obserue and doe all that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, that ye turne not therefrom to the right hand nor to the left,
Esforçae-vos pois muito para guardardes e para fazerdes tudo quanto está escripto no livro da lei de Moysés: para que d'elle não vos aparteis, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda;
7 Neither companie with these nations: that is, with them which are left with you, neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to sweare by them, neither serue them nor bowe vnto them:
Por não entrardes a estas nações que ainda ficaram comvosco: e dos nomes de seus deuses não façaes menção, nem por elles façaes jurar, nem os sirvaes, nem a elles vos inclineis.
8 But sticke fast vnto the Lord your God, as ye haue done vnto this day.
Mas ao Senhor vosso Deus vos achegareis, como fizestes até ao dia de hoje;
9 For ye Lord hath cast out before you great nations and mightie, and no man hath stand before your face hitherto.
Pois o Senhor expelliu de diante de vós grandes e numerosas nações: e, quanto a vós, ninguem ficou em pé diante de vós até ao dia de hoje.
10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, he fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
Um só homem d'entre vós perseguirá a mil: pois é o mesmo Senhor vosso Deus o que peleja por vós, como já vos tem dito.
11 Take good heede therefore vnto your selues, that ye loue the Lord your God.
Portanto, guardae muito as vossas almas, para amardes ao Senhor vosso Deus.
12 Els, if ye goe backe, and cleaue vnto the rest of these nations: that is, of them that remaine with you, and shall make marriages with them, and goe vnto them, and they to you,
Porque se d'alguma maneira vos apartardes, e vos achegardes ao resto d'estas nações que ainda ficou comvosco, e com ellas vos aparentardes, e vós a ellas entrardes, e ellas a vós,
13 Knowe ye for certaine, that the Lord your God will cast out no more of these nations from before you: but they shall be a snare and destruction vnto you, and a whip on your sides, and thornes in your eyes, vntill ye perish out of this good land, which ye Lord your God hath giue you.
Sabei certamente que o Senhor vosso Deus não continuará mais a expellir estas nações de diante de vós, mas vos serão por laço e rede, e açoite ás vossas ilhargas, e espinhos aos vossos olhos; até que pereçaes d'esta boa terra que vos deu o Senhor vosso Deus
14 And beholde, this day do I enter into the way of all ye world, and ye know in al your heartes and in all your soules, that nothing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God promised you, but all are come to passe vnto you: nothing hath failed thereof.
E eis aqui eu vou hoje pelo caminho de toda a terra: e vós bem sabeis, com todo o vosso coração, e com toda a vossa alma, que nem uma só palavra caiu de todas as boas palavras que fallou de vós o Senhor vosso Deus; todas vos sobrevieram, nem d'ellas caiu uma só palavra.
15 Therefore as all good things are come vpon you, which the Lord your God promised you, so shall the Lord bring vpon you euery euill thing, vntill he haue destroyed you out of this good land, which ye Lord your God hath giue you.
E será que, assim como sobre vós vieram todas estas boas coisas, que o Senhor vosso Deus vos disse, assim trará o Senhor sobre vós todas aquellas más coisas, até vos destruir de sobre a boa terra que vos deu o Senhor vosso Deus.
16 When ye shall transgresse the couenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and shall goe and serue other gods, and bowe your selues to them, then shall the wrath of the Lord waxe hote against you, and ye shall perish quickely out of the good lande which he hath giuen you.
Quando traspassardes o concerto do Senhor vosso Deus, que vos tem ordenado, e fõrdes e servirdes a outros deuses, e a elles vos inclinardes, então a ira do Senhor sobre vós se accenderá, e logo perecereis de sobre a boa terra que vos deu
