Joshua 20
1 The Lord also spake vnto Ioshua, saying,
Falou mais o Senhor a Josué, dizendo:
2 Speake to the children of Israel, and say, Appoint you cities of refuge, whereof I spake vnto you by the hand of Moses,
Fala aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: apartai-vos as cidades de refúgio, de que vos falei pelo ministério de Moisés:
3 That the slaier that killeth any person by ignorance, and vnwittingly, may flee thither, and they shall be your refuge from the auenger of blood.
Para que fuja para ali o homicida, que matar alguma pessoa por erro, e não com intento: para que vos sejam por refúgio do vingador do sangue.
4 And he that doeth flee vnto one of those cities, shall stand at the entring of the gate of the citie, and shall shewe his cause to the Elders of the citie: and they shall receiue him into the citie vnto them, and giue him a place, that hee may dwell with them.
E, fugindo para alguma daquelas cidades, por-se-á à porta da cidade, e proporá as suas palavras perante os ouvidos dos anciãos da tal cidade: então o tomarão consigo na cidade: e lhe darão lugar, para que habite com eles
5 And if the auenger of blood pursue after him, they shall not deliuer the slaier into his hand because hee smote his neighbour ignorantly, neither hated he him before time:
E, se o vingador do sangue o seguir, não entregarão na sua mão o homicida: porquanto não feriu a seu próximo com intento, e o não aborreceu de antes.
6 But hee shall dwell in that citie vntill hee stande before the Congregation in iudgement, or vntill the death of the hie Priest that shall be in those daies: then shall the slaier returne, and come vnto his owne citie, and vnto his owne house, euen vnto the citie from whence he fled.
E habitará na mesma cidade, até que se ponha a juízo perante a congregação, até que morra o sumo sacerdote que houver naqueles dias: então o homicida voltará, e virá à sua cidade, e à sua casa, à cidade de onde fugiu.
7 Then they appointed Kedesh in Galil in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba, (which is Hebron) in the mountaine of Iudah.
Então apartaram a Kedes em Galiléia, na montanha de Naphtali, e a Sichem na montanha de Ephraim, e a Kiriath-arba, esta é Hebron, na montanha de Judá.
8 And on the other side Iorden toward Iericho Eastward, they appoynted Bezer in the wildernesse vpon the plaine, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead, out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, out of the tribe of Manasseh.
E, de além do Jordão de Jericó para o oriente, apartaram a Beser, no deserto, na campina da tribo de Ruben, e a Ramoth em Gilead da tribo de Gad, e a Golan em Basan da tribo de Manasseh.
9 These were the cities appoynted for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that soiourned among them, that whosoeuer killed any person ignorantly, might flee thither, and not die by the hande of the auenger of blood, vntill hee stoode before the Congregation.
Estas são as cidades que foram designadas para todos os filhos de Israel, e para o estrangeiro que andasse entre eles; para que se acolhesse a elas todo aquele que ferisse alguma pessoa por erro: para que não morresse às mãos do vingador do sangue, até se pôr diante da congregação.
