Joshua 2
1 Then Ioshua the sonne of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spie secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and also Iericho: and they went, and came into an harlots house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
Entonces Josué, el hijo de Nun, envió a dos hombres de Sitim en secreto, con el propósito de explorar la tierra, especialmente Jericó. Entonces ellos fueron y vinieron a la casa de una mujer prostituta del pueblo, llamada Rahab, donde tomaron su descanso por la noche.
2 Then report was made to the King of Iericho, saying, Beholde, there came men hither to night, of the children of Israel, to spie out the countrey.
Y se dijo al rey de Jericó: Mira, algunos hombres han venido aquí esta noche de los hijos de Israel con el propósito de buscar la tierra.
3 And the King of Iericho sent vnto Rahab, saying, Bring foorth the men that are come to thee, and which are entred into thine house: for they be come to search out all the land.
Entonces el rey de Jericó envió a Rahab, diciendo: Envía a los hombres que han venido a ti y están en tu casa; porque han venido con el propósito de buscar toda la tierra.
4 (But ye woman had taken the two men, and hid them) Therefore saide she thus, There came men vnto me, but I wist not whence they were.
Y la mujer tomó a los dos hombres y los puso en un lugar secreto; entonces ella dijo: Sí, los hombres vinieron a mí, pero no supe de dónde eran;
5 And when they shut the gate in the darke, the men went out, whither the men went I wote not: follow ye after them quickly, for ye shall ouertake them.
Y cuando llegó el momento de cerrar las puertas en la oscuridad, salieron. No tengo idea de a dónde fueron los hombres; pero si los persigues rápidamente, los podrán alcanzar.
6 (But she had brought them vp to the roofe of the house, and hidde them with the stalkes of flaxe, which she had spread abroad vpon the roofe)
Pero ella los había llevado hasta el techo, escondiéndolos con los tallos de lino que había puesto en orden allí.
7 And certaine men pursued after them, the way to Iorden, vnto the foordes, and as soone as they which pursued after them, were gone out, they shut the gate.
Entonces los hombres los siguieron por el camino al Jordán hasta el cruce del río. Y cuando salieron, la puerta de la ciudad se cerró.
8 And before they were a sleepe, she came vp vnto them vpon the roofe,
Y antes de que los hombres se fueran a descansar, se les acercó en el techo,
9 And saide vnto the men, I knowe that the Lord hath giuen you the land, and that the feare of you is fallen vpon vs, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
Y les dijo: Está claro para mí que el Señor les ha dado la tierra, y que el temor de ustedes ha venido sobre nosotros; todos los habitantes de la tierra se han acobardado ante ustedes.
10 For we haue heard, howe the Lord dried vp the water of the redde Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt, and what you did vnto the two Kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Iorden, vnto Sihon and to Og, whom ye vtterly destroyed:
Porque hemos oído de cómo el Señor secó el Mar Rojo ante ustedes cuando salieron de Egipto; y lo que hiciste a los dos reyes de los amorreos, al otro lado del Jordán, a Sehón y Og, a quienes destruyeron completamente.
11 And when wee heard it, our heartes did faint, and there remained no more courage in any because of you: for the Lord your God, he is the God in heauen aboue, and in earth beneath.
Y a causa de estas noticias, nuestros corazones se acobardaron, y no tuvimos más valor en ninguno de nosotros a causa de ustedes; porque el Señor su Dios supremo es Dios en el cielo en lo alto y aquí abajo en la tierra.
12 Now therefore, I pray you, sweare vnto me by the Lord; that as I haue shewed you mercie, ye will also shewe mercie vnto my fathers house, and giue me a true token,
Ahora, ¿me darás tu juramento por parte del Señor? Que, como he sido amable contigo, serás amable con la casa de mi padre.
13 And that yee will saue aliue my father and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they haue: and that yee will deliuer our soules from death.
¿Y que mantendrás a salvo a mi padre, a mi madre, a mis hermanos y a todo lo que tienen, para que no nos llegue la muerte?
14 And the men answered her, Our life for you to die, if ye vtter not this our businesse: and when the Lord hath giuen vs the lande, we will deale mercifully and truely with thee.
Y los hombres le dijeron: Nuestra vida por la tuya, si mantienes nuestro negocio en secreto; y cuando el Señor nos haya dado la tierra, mantendremos la fe y seremos bondadosos con ustedes.
15 Then she let them downe by a corde thorowe the windowe: for her house was vpon the towne wall, and she dwelt vpon the wall.
Luego los bajó de la ventana por un cordón, porque la casa donde vivía estaba en la pared de la ciudad.
16 And she said vnto them, Goe you into the mountaine, least the pursuers meete with you, and hide your selues there three dayes, vntill the pursuers be returned: then afterwarde may yee goe your way.
Y ella les dijo: Vete a la región montañosa, o los hombres que te persiguen te alcanzarán; Manténganse seguros allí durante tres días, hasta que los buscadores hayan regresado, y luego sigan su camino.
17 And the men said vnto her, We will be blamelesse of this thine othe, which thou hast made vs sweare.
Y los hombres le dijeron: Solo seremos responsables de este juramento que nos has hecho hacer,
18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this cord of red threde in the window, whereby thou lettest vs downe, and thou shalt bring thy father and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy fathers houshold home to thee.
Si, cuando entramos en la tierra, pones este cordón de hilo rojo brillante en la ventana desde la que nos dejaste caer; y trae a tu padre y madre y tus hermanos y toda tu familia a la casa;
19 And whosoeuer then doeth goe out at the doores of thine house into the streete, his blood shalbe vpon his head, and we will be giltlesse: but whosoeuer shall be with thee in the house, his blood shalbe on our head, if any hande touch him:
Entonces, si alguien sale de tu casa a la calle, su sangre estará sobre su cabeza, no seremos responsables; pero si algún daño llega a alguien en la casa, su sangre estará en nuestras cabezas.
20 And if thou vtter this our matter, we will be quite of thine othe, which thou hast made vs sweare.
Pero si dice algo sobre nuestro negocio aquí, estaremos libres del juramento que nos ha hecho tomar.
21 And she answered, According vnto your wordes, so be it: then she sent them away, and they departed, and she bound the red cord in ye window.
Y ella dijo: Dejen que sea como ustedes dicen. Entonces los despidió, y se fueron; Y ella puso la cuerda roja brillante en la ventana.
22 And they departed, and came into the mountaine, and there abode three dayes, vntil the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but founde them not.
Y entraron en la región montañosa y estuvieron allí tres días, hasta que los hombres que habían ido tras ellos regresaron; y los que iban tras ellos los buscaban por todas partes sin encontrarlos.
23 So the two men returned, and descended from the mountaine, and passed ouer, and came to Ioshua the sonne of Nun, and tolde him all things that came vnto them.
Entonces los dos hombres bajaron de la región montañosa y se acercaron y regresaron a Josué, el hijo de Nun; y le dieron una cuenta completa de lo que había sucedido.
24 Also they saide vnto Ioshua, Surely the Lord hath deliuered into our handes all the lande: for euen all the inhabitants of the countrey faint because of vs.
Y dijeron a Josué: En verdad, el Señor ha entregado toda la tierra en nuestras manos; y todas las personas de la tierra se acobardan delante de nosotros.
