Joshua 16

1 And the lot fell to the children of Ioseph from Iorden by Iericho vnto the water of Iericho Eastward, and to the wildernes that goeth vp from Iericho by the mount Beth-el:

Och lotten föll ut för Josefs barn sålunda: Landet från Jordan vid Jeriko till Jerikos vatten österut, öknen, som från Jeriko höjer sig uppåt Bergsbygden mot Betel.

2 And goeth out from Beth-el to Luz, and runneth along vnto the borders of Archiataroth,

Och gränsen gick vidare från Betel till Lus och så fram till arkiternas område, mot Atarot.

3 And goeth down Westward to the coast of Iaphleti, vnto the coast of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the endes thereof are at the Sea.

Därefter gick den västerut ned till jafletiternas område, ända till Nedre Bet-Horons område och till Geser; sedan gick den ut vid havet.

4 So the children of Ioseph, Manasseh and Ephraim tooke their inheritance.

Detta fingo nu Josefs barn, Manasse och Efraim, till arvedel.

5 Also the borders of the children of Ephraim according to their families, euen the borders of their inheritance on the Eastside were Atroth-addar, vnto Beth-horon the vpper.

Efraims barn fingo, efter sina släkter, sina gränser sålunda: Gränsen för deras arvedel i öster gick från Atrot-Addar ända till Övre Bet-Horon.

6 And this border goeth out to the Sea vnto Michmethah on the Northside, and this border returneth Eastward vnto Taanathshiloh, and passeth it on the Eastside vnto Ianohah,

Sedan gick gränsen ut vid havet. I norr var Mikmetat gräns. Därifrån böjde sig gränsen österut till Taanat-Silo. Därefter gick den fram där i öster till Janoa.

7 And goeth downe from Ianohah to Ataroth, and Naarath, and commeth to Iericho, and goeth out at Iorden.

Från Janoa gick den ned till Atarot och Naara, träffade så Jeriko och gick ut vid Jordan.

8 And this border goeth from Tappuah Westward vnto the riuer Kanah, and the endes thereof are at the Sea: this is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.

Från Tappua gick gränsen västerut till Kanabäcken och gick sedan ut vid havet. Detta var Efraims barns stams arvedel, efter deras släkter.

9 And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh: all the cities with their villages.

Dit hörde ock de städer som avsöndrades åt Efraims barn inom Manasse barns arvedel, alla dessa städer med sina byar.

10 And they cast not out the Canaanite that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanite dwelt among the Ephraimites vnto this day, and serued vnder tribute.

Men de fördrevo icke kananéerna som bodde i Geser; därför bodde ock kananéerna kvar bland Efraims barn, såsom de göra ännu i dag, men de blevo arbetspliktiga tjänare under dem.
