Joshua 15

1 This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Iudah by their families: euen to the border of Edom and the wildernesse of Zin, Southward on the Southcoast.

Et le lot, échu par le sort à la Tribu des fils de Juda en raison de leurs familles, fut: à la frontière d'Edom le désert de Tsin, au sud, à l'extrémité méridionale.

2 And their South border was the salt Sea coast, from the point that looketh Southward.

Et leur frontière méridionale, partant de l'extrémité de la Mer Salée, de la pointe tournée au midi,

3 And it went out on the Southside towarde Maaleth-akrabbim, and went along to Zin, and ascended vp on the Southside vnto Kadesh-barnea, and went along to Hezron, and went vp to Adar, and fet a compasse to Karkaa.

courait au sud de la Hauteur des scorpions, puis passant à Tsin remontait du midi de Cadès-Barnéa, d'où passant à Hetsron elle montait vers Addar pour tourner vers Karka

4 From thence went it along to Azmon, and reached vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the end of that coast was on the Westside: this shall be your South coast.

et passer à Atsmon pour déboucher au Torrent d'Egypte et aboutir à la Mer. Telle sera votre frontière au midi.

5 Also the Eastborder shalbe the salt Sea, vnto the end of Iorden: and the border on the North quarter from the point of the Sea, and from the end of Iorden.

Et la frontière orientale fut la Mer Salée jusqu'à l'embouchure du Jourdain. Et la frontière du côté du nord partait de la pointe de la Mer [Salée], de l'embouchure du Jourdain

6 And this border goeth vp to Beth-hogla, and goeth along by ye Northside of Beth-arabah: so the border from thence goeth vp to the stone of Bohan the sonne of Reuben.

montait vers Beth-Hogla, et passait au nord de Beth-Araba, puis montait à la Pierre de Bohan, fils de Ruben, puis du Val d'Achor la frontière

7 Againe this border goeth vp to Debir from the valley of Achor, and Northwarde, turning toward Gilgal, that lyeth before the going vp to Adummim, which is on the Southside of the riuer: also this border goeth vp to the waters of En-shemesh, and endeth at En-rogel.

montait à Debir et au nord contournait vers Guilgal située vis-à-vis de l'éminence d'Adummim qui est au sud de la rivière. Ensuite la frontière continuait jusqu'aux Eaux de la Fontaine du soleil et venait aboutir à la Fontaine des éclaireurs.

8 Then this border goeth vp to the valley of the sonne of Hinnom; on the Southside of the Iebusites: the same is Ierusalem. also this border goeth vp to the top of the mountaine that lyeth before the valley of Hinnom Westward, which is by the end of the valley of ye gyants Northward.

De là elle montait à la vallée des fils de Hinnom au gradin méridional des Jébusites, c'est-à-dire, de Jérusalem, puis gagnait le sommet de la montagne à l'occident de la vallée de Hinnom qui est à l'extrémité septentrionale de la vallée de Rephaïm.

9 So this border compasseth from the top of the mountaine vnto the fountaine of the water of Nephtoah, and goeth out to the cities of mount Ephron: and this border draweth to Baalah, which is Kiriath-iearim.

Et du sommet de la montagne la frontière était tracée jusqu'à la Fontaine des Eaux de Nephthoah et continuait jusqu'aux villes de la montagne d'Ephron et suivait une ligne jusqu'à Baalah, c'est-à-dire, Kiriath-Jearim.

10 Then this border compasseth from Baalah Westward vnto mount Seir, and goeth along vnto the side of mount Iearim, which is Chesalon on the Northside: so it commeth downe to Bethshemesh, and goeth to Timnah.

Et de Baalah elle tournait à l'ouest vers le mont Séir et traversant le gradin septentrional du mont de Jearim, c'est-à-dire, Chessalon, elle descendait à Beth-Sémès et continuait jusqu'à Thimna.

11 Also this border goeth out vnto the side of Ekron Northwarde: and this border draweth to Shicron, and goeth along to mount Baalah, and stretcheth vnto Iabneel: and the endes of this coast are to the Sea.

De là suivant le gradin septentrional de Ecron elle se dirigeait vers Sichron et allait au mont Baalah et atteignait Jabnéel, pour aboutir à la mer.

12 And the Westborder is to the great Sea: so this border shalbe the bounds of the children of Iudah round about, according to their families.

Et la frontière occidentale est formée par la Mer, la Grande Mer et la côte. Telle est la frontière des fils de Juda de tous les côtés, en raison de leurs familles.

13 And vnto Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh did Ioshua giue a part among the children of Iudah, as the Lord commanded him, euen Kiriath-arba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron.

Et à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, il donna pour portion au milieu des fils de Juda, comme l'Éternel l'avait ordonné à Josué, la ville de Arba, père des Anakites, c'est-à-dire, Hébron.

14 And Caleb droue thence three sonnes of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak.

Et Caleb en expulsa les trois fils d'Anak, Sesaï et Ahiman et Thalmaï, issus d'Anak.

15 And he went vp thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before time was Kiriath-sepher.

Et de là il monta pour attaquer les habitants de Debir (jadis Debir portait le nom de Kiriath-Sépher).

16 Then Caleb sayd, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, euen to him wil I giue Achsah my daughter to wife.

Et Caleb dit: A celui qui réduira et prendra Kiriath-Sépher, je donnerai pour femme Achsa, ma fille.

17 And Othniel, the sonne of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb tooke it: and he gaue him Achsah his daughter to wife.

Et Othniel, fils de Kénaz, frère de Caleb, s'en empara, et Caleb lui donna pour femme sa fille Achsa.

18 And as she went in to him, she moued him, to aske of her father a fielde: and she lighted off her asse, and Caleb sayd vnto her, What wilt thou?

Et à son entrée chez lui elle l'incita à demander un champ à son père; et de dessus l'âne qu'elle montait, elle mit pied à terre.

19 Then she answered, Giue me a blessing: for thou hast giuen mee the South countrey: giue me also springs of water. And hee gaue her the springs aboue and the springs beneath.

Et Caleb lui dit: Qu'as-tu? Et elle dit: Accorde-moi un bienfait! puisque tu m'as donné la contrée du midi, donne-moi aussi des sources d'eaux. Alors il lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.

20 This shalbe the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Iudah according to their families.

Tel est le lot de la Tribu des fils de Juda, d'après leurs familles.

21 And the vtmost cities of the tribe of the children of Iudah, toward the coastes of Edom Southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Iagur,

Et à l'extrémité de la Tribu des fils de Juda vers la frontière d'Edom dans le Midi se trouvaient ces villes-ci: Kabtséel et Eder et Jagur,

22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

et Kîna et Dîmona et Adada

23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

et Kédès et Hatsor et Jithnan,

24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

Ziph et Telem et Bealoth

25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, Hesron (which is Hazor)

et Hatsor-Hadatha et Kirioth, Hetsron, c'est-à-dire, Hatsor,

26 Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

Amam et Sema et Molada,

27 And Hazar, Gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,

et Hatsar-Gadda et Hesmon et Beth-Palet,

28 And Hasar-shual, and Beersheba, and Biziothiah,

et Hatsar-Sual et Béer-Séba et Bisiotheia,

29 Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,

Baala et Ijim et Atsem

30 And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,

et El-Tholad et Chesil et Horma

31 And Ziklag, and Madmanna, and Sansannah,

et Tsildag et Madmanna et Jansanna,

32 And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all these cities are twentie and nine with their villages.

et Lebaoth et Silhim et Aïn et Rimmon: total des villes; vingt-neuf, plus leurs villages.

33 In the lowe countrey were Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

Dans le Pays-bas: Esthaol et Tsarea et Asna,

34 And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

et Zanoah et Ein-Gannim, Thappuah et Einam,

35 Iarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

Jarmuth et Adullam, Socho et Azeka,

36 And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteene cities with their villages.

et Saaraïm et Adithaïm et Gedera et Gederothaïm: quatorze villes, plus leurs villages.

37 Zenam, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

Tsenan et Hadasa, et Migdal-Gad,

38 And Dileam, and Mizpeh, and Ioktheel,

et Dilean et Mitspeh et Joktéel,

39 Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

Lachis et Botskath et Eglon

40 And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

et Chabbon et Lahmas et Chitelis

41 And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteene cities with their villages.

et Gederoth, Beth-Dagon et Naama et Makkéda: seize villes, plus leurs villages.

42 Lebnah, and Ether, and Ashan,

Libna et Ether et Asan

43 And Iipthtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

et Jephthah et Asena et Netsîb,

44 And Keilah, and Aczib, and Mareshah: nine cities with their villages.

et Keïla et Achsîb, et Marésa: neuf villes, plus leurs villages.

45 Ekron with her townes and her villages,

Ecron et ses annexes et ses villages.

46 From Ekron, euen vnto the Sea, all that lyeth about Ashdod with their villages.

Et depuis Ecron et à l'occident toutes les villes à côté de Asdod et leurs villages:

47 Ashdod with her townes and her villages: Azzah with her townes and her villages, vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the great Sea was their coast.

Asdod, ses annexes et ses villages; Gaza, ses annexes et ses villages jusqu'au Torrent d'Egypte et à la Grande Mer et aux côtes.

48 And in the mountaines were Shamir, and Iattir, and Socoh,

Et dans la montagne: Samîr et Jathîr, et Socho

49 And Dannah, and Kiriath-sannath (which is Debir)

et Danna et Kiriath-Sanna, c'est-à-dire, Debir

50 And Anab, and Ashtemoth, and Anim,

et Anab et Esthemo et Anim

51 And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleuen cities with their villages,

et Gosen et Holon et Gilo: onze villes, plus leurs villages.

52 Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,

Arab et Duma et Esean

53 And Ianum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,

et Janîm et Beth-Thappuah et Apheka

54 And Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, (which is Hebron) and Zior: nine cities with their villages.

et Humta et Kiriath-Arba, c'est-à-dire, Hébron, et Tsior: neuf villes, plus leurs villages.

55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Iuttah,

Maon, Carmel et Ziph et Juta

56 And Izreel, and Iokdeam, and Zanoah,

et Jizréel et Jockdeam et Zanoah,

57 Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah: ten cities with their villages.

Kaïn, Gibea et Thimna: dix villes, plus leurs villages.

58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

Halhul, Beth-Tsur, et Gedor

59 And Maarah, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon: sixe cities with their villages.

et Maarath et Beth-Anoth et Elthékon: six villes, plus leurs villages.

60 Kiriath-baal, which is Kiriath-iearim, and Rabbah: two cities with their villages.

Kiriath-Baal, c'est-à-dire, Kiriath-Jearim et Harabba: deux villes plus leurs bourgs.

61 In the wildernes were Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

Dans le Désert: Beth-Araba, Middin et Sechacha

62 And Nibshan, and the citie of salt, and Engedi: sixe cities with their villages.

et Nibsan et Ir-Hammélach (Ville du sel) et Ein-Gueddi: six villes, plusieurs villages.

63 Neuerthelesse, the Iebusites that were the inhabitants of Ierusalem, could not the children of Iudah cast out, but the Iebusites dwell with the children of Iudah at Ierusalem vnto this day.

Quant aux Jébusites habitant Jérusalem, les fils de Juda ne purent les expulser; dès là les Jébusites ont habité avec les enfants de Juda à Jérusalem jusqu'aujourd'hui.
