Joshua 15

1 This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Iudah by their families: euen to the border of Edom and the wildernesse of Zin, Southward on the Southcoast.

Et les limites de la tribu de Juda, par familles, s'étendent au midi des confins de l'Idumée et du désert de Sin jusqu'à Cadès.

2 And their South border was the salt Sea coast, from the point that looketh Southward.

Puis, elles vont du côté du midi jusqu'aux bords de la mer Salée, du côté de la colline qui regarde le midi.

3 And it went out on the Southside towarde Maaleth-akrabbim, and went along to Zin, and ascended vp on the Southside vnto Kadesh-barnea, and went along to Hezron, and went vp to Adar, and fet a compasse to Karkaa.

Et ensuite, elles passent devant les hauteurs d'Acrabin; elles contournent Séna; elles montent au midi de Cadès-Barné, elles sortent d'Asoron et montent à Sérada pour aller à l'occident de Cadès.

4 From thence went it along to Azmon, and reached vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the end of that coast was on the Westside: this shall be your South coast.

Et elles sortent de Selmona; puis, elles traversent le pays jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte, et finissent à la mer. Telles sont les limites de Juda du coté du midi.

5 Also the Eastborder shalbe the salt Sea, vnto the end of Iorden: and the border on the North quarter from the point of the Sea, and from the end of Iorden.

A l'orient, Juda a pour limite toute la mer Salée jusqu'au Jourdain. Et au nord, en partant du Jourdain et des collines de la mer Salée,

6 And this border goeth vp to Beth-hogla, and goeth along by ye Northside of Beth-arabah: so the border from thence goeth vp to the stone of Bohan the sonne of Reuben.

Ses limites montent vers Bethaglaam; elles passent au nord de Betharaba; elles montent sur la roche de Béon, fils de Ruben;

7 Againe this border goeth vp to Debir from the valley of Achor, and Northwarde, turning toward Gilgal, that lyeth before the going vp to Adummim, which is on the Southside of the riuer: also this border goeth vp to the waters of En-shemesh, and endeth at En-rogel.

Elles côtoient le quart de la vallée d'Acbor; elles descendent vers Galgal, qui est en face de la colline d'Adammin au midi de la vallée; elles traversent les eaux de la fontaine du Soleil, elles aboutissent à la fontaine de Rhogel.

8 Then this border goeth vp to the valley of the sonne of Hinnom; on the Southside of the Iebusites: the same is Ierusalem. also this border goeth vp to the top of the mountaine that lyeth before the valley of Hinnom Westward, which is by the end of the valley of ye gyants Northward.

Elles remontent ensuite la vallée d'Ennom, au-dessus de Jébus, la même que Jérusalem, qu'elles laissent au midi; puis, elles passent sur la cime des monts qui sont au couchant en face de la vallée d'Ennom, et au nord sur les confins de la contrée de Raphaïm.

9 So this border compasseth from the top of the mountaine vnto the fountaine of the water of Nephtoah, and goeth out to the cities of mount Ephron: and this border draweth to Baalah, which is Kiriath-iearim.

De ces sommités, la limite traverse les eaux de la fontaine Naphtho, puis le mont Ephron, d'où elle descend en Baala, la même que Cariathiarim.

10 Then this border compasseth from Baalah Westward vnto mount Seir, and goeth along vnto the side of mount Iearim, which is Chesalon on the Northside: so it commeth downe to Bethshemesh, and goeth to Timnah.

Elle tourne au sortir de Baala vers l'occident; elle côtoie le mont Assa au nord, au-dessus de la ville d'Iarin, la même que Chaslon; elle descend vers la Ville du Soleil, qu'elle laisse au nord.

11 Also this border goeth out vnto the side of Ekron Northwarde: and this border draweth to Shicron, and goeth along to mount Baalah, and stretcheth vnto Iabneel: and the endes of this coast are to the Sea.

Ensuite, elle passe au nord au-dessus d'Accaron; puis, elle traverse Soccboth; puis, elle incline au midi; puis, elle passe vers Lebna, où elle finit à l'occident.

12 And the Westborder is to the great Sea: so this border shalbe the bounds of the children of Iudah round about, according to their families.

Et à l'occident la tribu de Juda a pour limite la grande mer elle-même. Telles sont les frontières qui entourent la tribu de Juda par familles.

13 And vnto Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh did Ioshua giue a part among the children of Iudah, as the Lord commanded him, euen Kiriath-arba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron.

Et à Caleb, fils de Jephoné, il fut donné une part, au milieu des fils de Juda, par ordre du Seigneur; Josué lui donna la ville d'Arboc, métropole d'Enac, la même qu'Hébron.

14 And Caleb droue thence three sonnes of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the sonnes of Anak.

Et Caleb, fils de Jephoné, y extermina les trois fils d'Enac: Susi, Tholami et Achima.

15 And he went vp thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before time was Kiriath-sepher.

De là, Caleb partit pour attaquer les habitants de Dabir, qui était autrefois la Ville des Lettres (Cariath-Sépher).

16 Then Caleb sayd, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, euen to him wil I giue Achsah my daughter to wife.

Et Caleb dit: Celui qui prendra et réduira la Ville des Lettres et s'en rendra maître, je lui donnerai pour femme ma fille Ascha.

17 And Othniel, the sonne of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb tooke it: and he gaue him Achsah his daughter to wife.

Et Gothoniel, fils de Cénez, de la famille de Caleb, prit la ville, et Caleb lui donna pour femme sa fille Ascha.

18 And as she went in to him, she moued him, to aske of her father a fielde: and she lighted off her asse, and Caleb sayd vnto her, What wilt thou?

Pendant qu'elle s'en allait, elle se concerta avec lui, disant: Je demanderai un champ à mon père, et montée sur son âne elle cria, et Caleb lui dit: Qu'as-tu?

19 Then she answered, Giue me a blessing: for thou hast giuen mee the South countrey: giue me also springs of water. And hee gaue her the springs aboue and the springs beneath.

Et elle lui dit: Accorde-moi un bienfait; tu m'as donné Nageb, donne- moi en outre un pâturage; et son père lui donna, avec Gonethla haute, Gonethla inférieure.

20 This shalbe the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Iudah according to their families.

Voici l'héritage de la tribu de Juda.

21 And the vtmost cities of the tribe of the children of Iudah, toward the coastes of Edom Southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Iagur,

Leurs villes furent près des confins d'Edom, vers le désert: Beseléel, Ara et Asor,

22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

Icam, Rhegma et Aruel,

23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

Cadès, Asorionaïn et Ménam,

24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

Balmenan et ses villages,

25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, Hesron (which is Hazor)

Et Aseron, nommée aussi Asor,

26 Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

Sen, Salmaa et Molada,

27 And Hazar, Gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,

Séri et Bepbalath,

28 And Hasar-shual, and Beersheba, and Biziothiah,

Cholaséola, Bersabée, leurs villages et leurs hameaux;

29 Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,

Bala, Bacoc et Asom,

30 And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,

Elbudad, Béthel et Henna,

31 And Ziklag, and Madmanna, and Sansannah,

Sécelac, Macharim et Séthennac,

32 And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all these cities are twentie and nine with their villages.

Labos, Sala et Eromoth: vingt-neuf villes avec leurs villages;

33 In the lowe countrey were Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

Dans la plaine: Astaol, Rhaa et Assa,

34 And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,

Rhamen, Tano, Ilouthoth et Méani,

35 Iarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

Jermuth, Odollam, Membra, Saocho et Jazéca,

36 And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteene cities with their villages.

Sacarim, Gadera et leurs villages: quatorze villes et leurs villages;

37 Zenam, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

Senna, Adasan et Magadalgad,

38 And Dileam, and Mizpeh, and Ioktheel,

Dalad, Maspha et Jacharéel,

39 Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,

Basedoth et Idéadaléa,

40 And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,

Chabré, Machès et Maachos,

41 And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteene cities with their villages.

Geddor, Bagadiel, Noman et Machédan: seize villes et leurs villages;

42 Lebnah, and Ether, and Ashan,

Lebna, Ithac et Anoch,

43 And Iipthtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,

Jana et Nasib,

44 And Keilah, and Aczib, and Mareshah: nine cities with their villages.

Céilam, Aciézi, Césib, Bathésar et Elom: dix villes et leurs villages;

45 Ekron with her townes and her villages,

Accaron et ses villages et leurs hameaux;

46 From Ekron, euen vnto the Sea, all that lyeth about Ashdod with their villages.

Après Accaron, Gemna et toutes les villes qui sont près d'Asedoth et leurs villages;

47 Ashdod with her townes and her villages: Azzah with her townes and her villages, vnto the riuer of Egypt, and the great Sea was their coast.

Asiédoth et ses villages et ses hameaux, Gaza et ses villages et ses hameaux, jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte; la grande mer est sa limite;

48 And in the mountaines were Shamir, and Iattir, and Socoh,

Et dans les montagnes: Samir, Jéther et Socha,

49 And Dannah, and Kiriath-sannath (which is Debir)

Rhenna et la Ville des Lettres, la même que Dabir,

50 And Anab, and Ashtemoth, and Anim,

Anon, Es, Man et Esam,

51 And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleuen cities with their villages,

Gosom, Chalu, Channa et Gélom: onze villes et leurs villages;

52 Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,

Erem, Rhemna et Soma,

53 And Ianum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,

Jemaïm, Béthachu et Phacua,

54 And Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, (which is Hebron) and Zior: nine cities with their villages.

Eyma, Cariath-Arboc, la même qu'Hébron et Soraïth: onze villes et leurs villages;

55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Iuttah,

Maor, Carmel, Ozib et Itan,

56 And Izreel, and Iokdeam, and Zanoah,

Jariel, Aricam et Zacanaïm,

57 Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah: ten cities with their villages.

Gabaa et Thamnatha: neuf villes et leurs villages;

58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

Elua, Bethsur et Geddon,

59 And Maarah, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon: sixe cities with their villages.

Magaroth, Béthanam et Thécum: six villes et leurs villages;

60 Kiriath-baal, which is Kiriath-iearim, and Rabbah: two cities with their villages.

Théco, Ephrata, la même que Bethléem, Phagor, Etan, Culon, Tatam, Thobès, Carem, Galem, Théther et Manocho: onze villes et leurs villages; Cariath- Baal, la même que Cariathiarim et Sothéba: deux villes et leurs villages;

61 In the wildernes were Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

Baddargis, Tharabaam et Enon,

62 And Nibshan, and the citie of salt, and Engedi: sixe cities with their villages.

Et Eochiosa et Naphlazon, et les villes de Sadon et d'Ancadès: sept villes et leurs villages.

63 Neuerthelesse, the Iebusites that were the inhabitants of Ierusalem, could not the children of Iudah cast out, but the Iebusites dwell with the children of Iudah at Ierusalem vnto this day.

Or, le Jébuséen habitait Jérusalem, et les fils de Juda ne purent les détruire; les Jébuséens ont ainsi demeuré en Jérusalem jusqu'à ce jour.
