Joshua 13

1 Nowe when Ioshua was olde, and striken in yeeres, the Lord said vnto him, Thou art olde and growen in age, and there remaineth exceeding much land to be possessed:

Or, Josué étant vieux, avancé en âge, l’Eternel lui dit: "Te voilà vieux, avancé en âge, et il reste encore une très grande partie du pays à conquérir.

2 This is the land that remaineth, all the regions of the Philistims, and all Geshuri,

Voici ce qui reste à prendre: tous les districts des Philistins, et tout le canton de Guechour;

3 From Nilus which is in Egypt, euen vnto the borders of Ekron Northward: this is counted of the Canaanites, euen fiue Lordships of the Philistims, the Azzithites, and the Ashdodites, the Eshkelonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites, and the Auites:

depuis Chihor, qui baigne l’Egypte, jusqu’au territoire d’Ekron au nord, qui est compté comme cananéen; les cinq principautés philistines de Gaza, d’Asdôd, d’Ascalon, de Gath et d’Ekron, et les Avéens;

4 From the South, all the land of the Canaanites, and the caue that is beside the Sidonians, vnto Aphek, and to the borders of the Amorites:

en partant du midi: tout le pays des Cananéens, et Meara, qui est aux Sidoniens, jusqu’à Aphek, jusqu’à la frontière des Amorréens;

5 And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunne rising from Bahal-gad vnder mount Hermon, vntil one come to Hamath.

la province des Ghiblites, toute la partie orientale du Liban, depuis Baal-Gad, au pied du mont Hermon, jusque vers Hamath;

6 All the inhabitants of the mountaines from Lebanon vnto Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, I wil cast them out from before the children of Israel: only deuide thou it by lot vnto the Israelites, to inherite, as I haue commanded thee.

tout ce que possédaient les montagnards, du Liban jusqu’à Misrefot-Maïm, tout ce qui est aux Sidoniens: je les en déposséderai pour les enfants d’Israël. En attendant, lotis ce pays entre les Israélites, ainsi que je te l’ai ordonné.

7 Nowe therefore deuide this lande to inherite, vnto the nine tribes, and to the halfe tribe of Manasseh.

Maintenant, tu as à le répartir comme possession entre les neuf tribus et la moitié de la tribu de Manassé."

8 For with halfe therof the Reubenites and the Gadites haue receiued their inheritance, which Moses gaue them beyond Iorden Eastward, euen as Moses the seruant of the Lord had giuen them,

Les Rubénites et les Gadites avaient, avec l’autre moitié, pris possession de l’héritage que Moïse leur avait donné du côté oriental du Jourdain, tel que Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, le leur avait attribué:

9 From Aroer that is on the brinke of the riuer Arnon, and from the citie that is in the mids of the riuer, and all the plaine of Medeba vnto Dibon,

depuis Aroêr, située au bord du torrent d’Arnon, avec la ville qui est dans le bas-fond, et toute la plaine de Mêdeba jusqu’à Dibôn;

10 And all the cities of Sihon King of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, vnto the borders of the children of Ammon,

toutes les villes de Sihôn, roi des Amorréens, qui avait régné à Hesbon, jusqu’à la frontière des Ammonites;

11 And Gilead, and the borders of the Geshurites and of the Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, with all Bashan vnto Salcah:

le Galaad, le territoire de Guechour et de Maakha, toute la montagne de Hermon et tout le Basan jusqu’à Salka,

12 All the kingdome of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei: (who remained of the rest of the gyants) for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.

formant le royaume d’Og dans le Basan, lequel régnait à Astarot et à Edréi et était resté des derniers Rephaïm. Moïse avait vaincu et dépossédé ces deux rois.

13 But the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites nor the Maachathites: but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites euen vnto this day.

Toutefois, les Israélites ne dépossédèrent point les habitants de Guechour, ni ceux de Maakha, lesquels sont restés au milieu d’Israël jusqu’à ce jour.

14 Onely vnto the tribe of Leui he gaue none inheritance, but the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel are his inheritance, as he said vnto him.

A la seule tribu de Lévi l’on n’assigna pas de patrimoine: les sacrifices de l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, constituèrent son patrimoine, comme il le lui avait déclaré.

15 Moses then gaue vnto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance, according to their families.

Moïse donna donc sa part à la tribu des Rubénites, selon leurs familles.

16 And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the brinke of the riuer Arnon, and from the citie that is in the middes of the riuer, and all the plaine which is by Medeba:

Et ils eurent pour territoire: Aroêr, au bord du torrent d’Arnon; la ville qui est dans le bas-fond, et toute la plaine vers Mêdeba;

17 Heshbon with all the cities thereof, that are in the plaine: Dibon and Bamoth-baal, and Bethbaal-meon:

Hesbon avec toutes ses bourgades qui sont dans la plaine: Dibôn, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal Meôn;

18 And Iahazah, and Kedemoth and Mephaath:

Yahça, Kedêmoth, Méphaath;

19 Kiriathaim also, and Sibmah, and Zerethshahar in the mount of Emek:

Kiryathaïm, Sibma et Céreth-Hachahar sur le mont de la vallée;

20 And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-ieshimoth:

Beth-Peor, les versants du Pisga, Beth-Hayechimoth,

21 And all the cities of the plaine: and all the kingdome of Sihon King of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whome Moses smote with the Princes of Midian, Eui, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the countrey.

enfin, toutes les villes de la plaine, tout le royaume de Sihôn, roi des Amorréens, qui avait régné à Hesbon et que Moïse avait battu, ainsi que les princes de Madian: Evi, Rékem Çour, Hour et Réba, vassaux de Sihôn occupant ce pays,

22 And Balaam the sonne of Beor the soothsayer did the children of Israel slay with the sword, among them that were slaine.

et aussi Balaam, fils de Beor, le magicien, que les enfants d’Israël avaient fait périr, avec leurs autres victimes, par le glaive.

23 And the border of the children of Reuben was Iorden with the coastes. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, with the cities and their villages.

Le territoire des enfants de Ruben avait le Jourdain pour limite. Tel fut l’héritage des enfants de Ruben selon leurs familles, telles les villes et leurs dépendances.

24 Also Moses gaue inheritance vnto ye tribe of Gad, euen vnto the children of Gad according to their families.

Moïse donna aussi sa part à la tribu de Gad, aux enfants de Gad selon leurs familles,

25 And their coastes were Iazer, and all the cities of Gilead and halfe the lande of the children of Ammon vnto Aroer, which is before Rabbah:

et ils eurent pour territoire: Yazer et toutes les villes du Galaad, et la moitié du pays des Ammonites, jusqu’à Aroêr qui est en face de Rabba;

26 And from Heshbon vnto Ramoth, Mizpeh, and Betonim: and from Mahanaim vnto the borders of Debir:

et depuis Hesbon jusqu’à Ramath-Miçpé et Betonim, et depuis Mahanaïm jusqu’à la frontière de Debir;

27 And in the valley Beth-aram, and Bethnimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdome of Sihon King of Heshbon, vnto Iorden and the borders euen vnto the Sea coast of Cinneereth, beyond Iorden Eastward.

dans la vallée: Beth-Harâm, Beth-Nimra, Souccoth et Çaphôn, formant le surplus du royaume de Sihôn, roi de Hesbon, avec le Jourdain pour limite, jusqu’à l’extrémité du lac de Génésareth, au bord oriental du Jourdain.

28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad, after their families, with the cities, and their villages.

Tel fut l’héritage des enfants de Gad selon leurs familles, telles les villes et leurs dépendances.

29 Also Moses gaue inheritance vnto the halfe tribe of Manasseh: and this belonged to the halfe tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families.

Enfin, Moïse donna leur part aux membres de la demi-tribu de Manassé, répartis selon leurs familles,

30 And their border was from Mahanaim, euen all Bashan, to wit, all the kingdome of Og King of Bashan, and all the townes of Iair which are in Bashan, threescore cities,

et ils eurent pour territoire, à partir de Mahanaïm, tout le Basan, le domaine entier d’Og, roi du Basan, et tous les Bourgs de Yaïr qui sont dans le Basan: soixante villes;

31 And halfe Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were giuen vnto the children of Machir the sonne of Manasseh, to halfe of the children of Machir after their families.

plus la moitié du Galaad, Astaroth et Edréi, les villes royales d’Og dans le Basan; ce fut la part des enfants de Makhir, fils de Manassé, dont la moitié y fut cantonnée selon ses familles.

32 These are the heritages, which Moses did distribute in the plaine of Moab beyond Iorden, toward Iericho Eastward.

Telle fut la répartition faite par Moïse dans les plaines de Moab, du côté oriental du Jourdain vers Jéricho.

33 But vnto the tribe of Leui Moses gaue none inheritance: for the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance, as he said vnto them.

Mais à la tribu de Lévi Moïse n’assigna point de possession; c’est l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, qui était leur possession, comme il le leur avait déclaré.
