Jonah 2
1 Then Ionah prayed vnto the Lord his God out of the fishes belly,
Und Jonas betete zu seinem Gott und Herrn, nachdem er wieder außerhalb des Fischleibs war.
2 And said, I cryed in mine affliction vnto the Lord, and he heard me: out of the bellie of hell cryed I, and thou heardest my voyce. (Sheol h7585)
Er sprach: "Ich hab zum Herrn in meiner Not gerufen; da hat er mich erhört. Ich schrie um Hilfe aus dem Schoß der Unterwelt, und Du vernahmst mein Rufen. (Sheol h7585)
3 For thou haddest cast me into the bottome in the middes of the sea, and the floods compassed me about: all thy surges, and all thy waues passed ouer me.
Du warfst mich in die Tiefe, in des Meeres Mitte. Und mich umgab die Strömung. All Deine Wogen, Deine Wellen gingen über mich.
4 Then I saide, I am cast away out of thy sight: yet will I looke againe towarde thine holy Temple.
Da hatte ich gesprochen: Verstoßen bin ich jetzt aus Deinen Augen. Ach, könnte ich doch wieder Deinen heiligen Tempel schauen!
5 The waters compassed me about vnto the soule: the depth closed me rounde about, and the weedes were wrapt about mine head.
Die Wasser gingen mir bis an die Kehle. Der Abgrund hielt mich fest umfangen, und Meergras schlang sich um mein Haupt.
6 I went downe to the bottome of the moutaines: the earth with her barres was about me for euer, yet hast thou brought vp my life from the pit, O Lord my God.
Bis zu der Berge Gründen war ich schon hinabgefahren; der Erde Riegel wollten ewig mich verschließen. Da hast Du, Herr, mein Gott, mein Leben vor dem Untergang gerettet.
7 When my soule fainted within me, I remembred the Lord: and my prayer came vnto thee, into thine holy Temple.
Als meine Lebenskraft in mir zu Ende ging, da habe ich des Herrn gedacht. Mein Flehen kam zu Dir in Deinen heiligen Tempel.
8 They that waite vpon lying vanities, forsake their owne mercie.
Die nichtigen Götzen dienen, verlassen ihre treue Hilfe.
9 But I will sacrifice vnto thee with the voice of thankesgiuing, and will pay that that I haue vowed: saluation is of the Lord.
Ich aber muß mit lautem Dank Dir opfern. Was ich gelobt, muß ich erfüllen; erschienen ist des Herren Hilfe."
10 And the Lord spake vnto the fish, and it cast out Ionah vpon the dry lande.
Dem Fische hatte ja der Herr geboten, aufs trockne Land den Jonas auszuspeien.
