John 7
1 After these things, Iesus walked in Galile, and woulde not walke in Iudea: for the Iewes sought to kill him.
DOPO queste cose, Gesù andava attorno per la Galilea, perciocchè non voleva andare attorno per la Giudea; perchè i Giudei cercavano di ucciderlo.
2 Nowe the Iewes feast of the Tabernacles was at hande.
Or la festa de' Giudei, [cioè] la solennità de' tabernacoli, era vicina.
3 His brethren therefore sayde vnto him, Depart hence, and goe into Iudea, that thy disciples may see thy woorkes that thou doest.
Laonde i suoi fratelli gli dissero: Partiti di qui, e vattene nella Giudea, acciocchè i tuoi discepoli ancora veggano le opere che tu fai.
4 For there is no man that doeth any thing secretely, and hee himselfe seeketh to be famous. If thou doest these things, shewe thy selfe to the worlde.
Perchè niuno che cerca d'esser riconosciuto in pubblico fa cosa alcuna in occulto; se tu fai coteste cose, palesati al mondo.
5 For as yet his brethren beleeued not in him.
Perciocchè non pure i suoi fratelli credevano in lui.
6 Then Iesus saide vnto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway readie.
Laonde Gesù disse loro; Il mio tempo non è ancora venuto; ma il vostro tempo sempre è presto.
7 The world can not hate you: but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the workes thereof are euill.
Il mondo non vi può odiare, ma egli mi odia, perciocchè io rendo testimonianza d'esso, che le sue opere son malvage.
8 Go ye vp vnto this feast: I wil not go vp yet vnto this feast: for my time is not yet fulfilled.
Salite voi a questa festa; io non salgo ancora a questa festa, perciocchè il mio tempo non è ancora compiuto.
9 These things he sayde vnto them, and abode still in Galile.
E dette loro tali cose, rimase in Galilea.
10 But assoone as his brethren were gone vp, then went hee also vp vnto the feast, not openly, but as it were priuilie.
ORA, dopo che i suoi fratelli furon saliti alla festa, allora egli ancora vi salì, non palesemente, ma come di nascosto.
11 Then the Iewes sought him at the feast, and saide, Where is hee?
I Giudei adunque lo cercavano nella festa, e dicevano: Ov'è colui?
12 And much murmuring was there of him among the people. Some said, He is a good man: other sayd, Nay: but he deceiueth the people.
E v'era gran mormorio di lui fra le turbe; gli uni dicevano: Egli è da bene; altri dicevano: No; anzi egli seduce la moltitudine.
13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for feare of the Iewes.
Ma pur niuno parlava di lui apertamente, per tema de' Giudei.
14 Nowe when halfe the feast was done, Iesus went vp into the Temple and taught.
Ora, essendo già passata mezza la festa, Gesù salì nel tempio, ed insegnava.
15 And the Iewes marueiled, saving, Howe knoweth this man the Scriptures, seeing that hee neuer learned!
E i Giudei si maravigliavano, dicendo: Come sa costui lettere, non essendo stato ammaestrato?
16 Iesus answered them, and saide, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Laonde Gesù rispose loro, e disse: La mia dottrina non è mia, ma di colui che mi ha mandato.
17 If any man will doe his will, he shall knowe of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speake of my selfe.
Se alcuno vuol far la volontà d'esso, conoscerà se questa dottrina è da Dio, o pur se io parlo da me stesso.
18 Hee that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glorie: but hee that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnes is in him.
Chi parla da sè stesso cerca la sua propria gloria; ma chi cerca la gloria di colui che l'ha mandato, esso è verace, ed ingiustizia non è in lui.
19 Did not Moses giue you a Law, and yet none of you keepeth the lawe? Why goe ye about to kill me?
Mosè non v'ha egli data la legge? e pur niuno di voi mette ad effetto la legge; perchè cercate di uccidermi?
20 The people answered, and said, Thou hast a deuil: who goeth about to kill thee?
La moltitudine rispose, e disse: Tu hai il demonio; chi cerca di ucciderti?
21 Iesus answered, and saide to them, I haue done one worke, and ye all maruaile.
Gesù rispose, e disse loro: Io ho fatta un'opera, e tutti siete maravigliati.
22 Moses therefore gaue vnto you circumcision, (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and ye on the Sabbath day circumcise a man.
E pur Mosè vi ha data la circoncisione (non già ch'ella sia da Mosè, anzi da' padri); e voi circoncidete l'uomo in sabato.
23 If a man on the Sabbath receiue circumcision, that the Lawe of Moses should not be broken, be ye angrie with me, because I haue made a man euery whit whole on the Sabbath day?
Se l'uomo riceve la circoncisione in sabato, acciocchè la legge di Mosè non sia rotta, vi adirate voi contro a me, ch'io abbia sanato tutto un uomo in sabato?
24 Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.
Non giudicate secondo l'apparenza, ma fate giusto giudicio.
25 Then saide some of them of Hierusalem, Is not this he, whom they goe about to kill?
Laonde alcuni di que' di Gerusalemme dicevano: Non è costui quel ch'essi cercano di uccidere?
26 And beholde, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him: doe the rulers know in deede that this is in deede that Christ?
E pure, ecco, egli parla liberamente, ed essi non gli dicono nulla; avrebbero mai i rettori conosciuto per vero che costui è il Cristo?
27 Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when that Christ commeth, no man shall knowe whence he is.
Ma pure, noi sappiamo onde costui è; ma, quando il Cristo verrà, niuno saprà onde egli sia.
28 Then cried Iesus in the Temple as hee taught, saying, Ye both knowe mee, and knowe whence I am: yet am I not come of my selfe, but he that sent me, is true, whome ye knowe not.
Laonde Gesù gridava nel tempio, insegnando, e dicendo: E voi mi conoscete, e sapete onde io sono, ed io non son venuto da me stesso; ma colui che mi ha mandato è verace, il qual voi non conoscete.
29 But I knowe him: for I am of him, and he hath sent me.
Ma io lo conosco, perciocchè io son [proceduto] da lui, ed egli mi ha mandato.
30 Then they sought to take him, but no man layde handes on him, because his houre was not yet come.
Perciò cercavano di pigliarlo; ma niuno gli mise la mano addosso; perciocchè la sua ora non era ancora venuta.
31 Now many of the people beleeued in him, and said, When that Christ commeth, will he doe moe miracles then this man hath done?
E molti della moltitudine credettero in lui, e dicevano: Il Cristo, quando sarà venuto, farà egli più segni che costui non ha fatti?
32 The Pharises heard that the people murmured these thinges of him, and the Pharises, and high Priestes sent officers to take him.
I Farisei udirono la moltitudine che bisbigliava queste cose di lui; e i Farisei, e i principali sacerdoti, mandarono de' sergenti per pigliarlo.
33 Then saide Iesus vnto them, Yet am I a little while with you, and then goe I vnto him that sent mee.
Perciò Gesù disse loro: Io son con voi ancora un poco di tempo: poi me ne vo a colui che mi ha mandato.
34 Ye shall seeke me, and shall not finde me, and where I am, can ye not come.
Voi mi cercherete, e non [mi] troverete; e dove io sarò, voi non potrete venire.
35 Then saide the Iewes amongs themselues, Whither will he goe, that we shall not finde him? Will he goe vnto them that are dispersed among the Grecians, and teache the Grecians?
Laonde i Giudei dissero fra loro: Dove andrà costui, che noi nol troveremo? andrà egli a coloro che son dispersi fra i Greci, ad insegnare i Greci?
36 What saying is this that hee saide, Ye shall seeke mee, and shall not finde mee? and where I am, cannot ye come?
Quale è questo ragionamento ch'egli ha detto: Voi mi cercherete, e non [mi] troverete; e: Dove io sarò, voi non potrete venire?
37 Nowe in the last and great day of the feast, Iesus stoode and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come vnto me, and drinke.
Or nell'ultimo giorno, [ch'era] il gran [giorno] della festa, Gesù, stando in piè, gridò, dicendo: Se alcuno ha sete, venga a me, e beva.
38 Hee that beleeueth in mee, as saith the Scripture, out of his bellie shall flowe riuers of water of life.
Chi crede in me, siccome ha detto la scrittura, dal suo seno coleranno fiumi d'acqua viva.
39 (This spake hee of the Spirite which they that beleeued in him, should receiue: for the holy Ghost was not yet giuen, because that Iesus was not yet glorified.)
Or egli disse questo dello Spirito, il qual riceverebbero coloro che credono in lui; perchè lo Spirito Santo non era ancora [stato mandato]; perciocchè Gesù non era ancora stato glorificato.
40 So many of the people, when they heard this saying, said, Of a trueth this is that Prophet.
Molti adunque della moltitudine, udito quel ragionamento, dicevano: Costui è veramente il profeta.
41 Other saide, This is that Christ: and some said, But shall that Christ come out of Galile?
Altri dicevano: Costui è il Cristo. Altri dicevano: Ma il Cristo verrà egli di Galilea?
42 Saith not the Scripture that that Christ shall come of the seede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Beth-leem, where Dauid was?
La scrittura non ha ella detto, che il Cristo verrà della progenie di Davide, e di Betleem, castello ove dimorò Davide?
43 So was there dissension among the people for him.
Vi fu adunque dissensione fra la moltitudine a motivo di lui.
44 And some of them would haue taken him, but no man layde handes on him.
Ed alcuni di loro volevan pigliarlo, ma pur niuno mise le mani sopra lui.
45 Then came the officers to the hie Priests and Pharises, and they said vnto them, Why haue ye not brought him?
I sergenti adunque tornarono a' principali sacerdoti, ed a' Farisei; e quelli dissero loro: Perchè non l'avete menato?
46 The officers answered, Neuer man spake like this man.
I sergenti risposero: Niun uomo parlò giammai come costui.
47 Then answered them the Pharises, Are yee also deceiued?
Laonde i Farisei risposer loro: Siete punto ancora voi stati sedotti?
48 Doeth any of the rulers, or of the Pharises beleeue in him?
Ha alcuno dei rettori, o de' Farisei, creduto in lui?
49 But this people, which know not the Law, are cursed.
Ma questa moltitudine, che non sa la legge, è maledetta.
50 Nicodemus said vnto them, (he that came to Iesus by night, and was one of them.)
Nicodemo, quel che venne di notte a lui, il quale era un di loro, disse loro:
51 Doth our Law iudge a man before it heare him, and knowe what he hath done?
La nostra legge condanna ella l' uomo, avanti ch'egli sia stato udito, e che sia conosciuto ciò ch'egli ha fatto?
52 They answered, and said vnto him, Art thou also of Galile? Searche and looke: for out of Galile ariseth no Prophet.
Essi risposero, e gli dissero: Sei punto ancor tu di Galilea? investiga, e vedi che profeta alcuno non sorse mai di Galilea.
53 And euery man wet vnto his owne house.
E ciascuno se ne andò a casa sua.
