John 6
1 After these thinges, Iesus went his way ouer the sea of Galile, which is Tiberias.
Après cela, Jésus passa de l'autre côté de la mer de Galilée — ou de Tibériade.
2 And a great multitude followed him, because they sawe his miracles, which hee did on them that were diseased.
Une grande foule le suivait, parce qu'elle voyait les miracles qu'il opérait sur ceux qui étaient malades.
3 Then Iesus went vp into a mountaine, and there he sate with his disciples.
Mais Jésus monta sur la montagne, où il s'assit avec ses disciples.
4 Now the Passeouer, a feast of the Iewes, was neere.
Or, la Pâque, la fête des Juifs, était proche.
5 Then Iesus lift vp his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude came vnto him, hee sayde vnto Philippe, Whence shall we buy breade, that these might eate?
Ayant levé les yeux et voyant une grande foule qui venait à lui, Jésus dit à Philippe: Où achèterons-nous des pains, afin que ces gens aient à manger?
6 (And this he sayde to prooue him: for hee himselfe knewe what he would doe.)
Il disait cela pour l'éprouver; car il savait bien ce qu'il allait faire.
7 Philippe answered him, Two hundreth penie worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that euery one of them may take a litle.
Philippe lui répondit: Deux cents deniers de pain ne suffiraient pas pour en donner un peu à chacun.
8 Then saide vnto him one of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother,
Un de ses disciples, André, frère de Simon Pierre, lui dit:
9 There is a little boy heere, which hath fiue barlie loaues, and two fishes: but what are they among so many?
Il y a ici un petit garçon, qui a cinq pains d'orge et deux poissons; mais qu'est-ce que cela pour tant de gens?
10 And Iesus saide, Make ye people sit downe. (Nowe there was much grasse in that place.) Then the men sate downe in nomber, about fiue thousande.
Alors Jésus dit: Faites-les asseoir. Or, il y avait beaucoup d'herbe en ce lieu-là. Ils s'assirent donc, au nombre d'environ cinq mille hommes.
11 And Iesus tooke the bread, and gaue thanks, and gaue to the disciples, and the disciples, to them that were set downe: and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
Jésus prit les pains, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les distribua à ceux qui étaient assis; il leur donna de même des poissons, autant qu'ils en voulaient.
12 And when they were satisfied, he said vnto his disciples, Gather vp the broken meat which remaineth, that nothing be lost.
Lorsqu'ils furent rassasiés, il dit à ses disciples: Ramassez les morceaux qui restent, afin que rien ne se perde.
13 Then they gathered it together, and filled twelue baskets with the broken meat of the fiue barly loaues, which remained vnto them that had eaten.
Ils les ramassèrent donc, et ils remplirent douze paniers des morceaux qui étaient restés des cinq pains d'orge, après qu'on eut mangé.
14 Then the men, when they had seene the miracle that Iesus did, saide, This is of a trueth that Prophet that should come into the world.
Ces gens, ayant vu le miracle que Jésus avait fait, disaient: Celui-ci est vraiment le prophète qui doit venir dans le monde.
15 When Iesus therfore perceiued that they would come, and take him to make him a King, hee departed againe into a mountaine himselfe alone.
Alors Jésus, sachant qu'ils allaient venir l'enlever pour le faire roi, se retira de nouveau seul sur la montagne.
16 When euen was nowe come, his disciples went downe vnto the sea,
Quand le soir fut venu, ses disciples descendirent au bord de la mer;
17 And entred into a shippe, and went ouer the sea, towardes Capernaum: and nowe it was darke, and Iesus was not come to them.
et, étant entrés dans une barque, ils se dirigeaient de l'autre côté, vers Capernaüm. L'obscurité les surprit, et Jésus ne les avait pas encore rejoints.
18 And the Sea arose with a great winde that blewe.
Le vent soufflait avec violence, de sorte que la mer était très agitée.
19 And when they had rowed about fiue and twentie, or thirtie furlongs, they sawe Iesus walking on the sea, and drawing neere vnto the ship: so they were afraide.
Quand ils eurent ramé environ vingt-cinq ou trente stades, ils virent Jésus qui marchait sur la mer et qui s'approchait de la barque; et ils eurent peur.
20 But he said vnto them, It is I: be not afraid.
Mais il leur dit: C'est moi, n'ayez point de peur!
21 Then willingly they receiued him into the ship, and the ship was by and by at the lande, whither they went.
Ils voulurent alors le prendre dans la barque; et aussitôt, la barque aborda au lieu où ils allaient.
22 The day following, the people which stoode on the other side of the sea, saw that there was none other ship there, saue that one, whereinto his disciples were entred, and that Iesus went not with his disciples in the ship, but that his disciples were gone alone,
La foule, restée de l'autre côté de la mer, avait remarqué qu'il n'y avait là qu'une seule barque, et que Jésus n'y était pas monté avec ses disciples, mais que les disciples étaient partis seuls.
23 And that there came other ships from Tiberias neere vnto the place where they ate the bread, after the Lord had giuen thankes.
Le lendemain, — comme d'autres barques étaient arrivées de Tibériade près du lieu où ils avaient mangé le pain, après que le Seigneur eut rendu grâces, —
24 Nowe when the people sawe that Iesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also tooke shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Iesus.
la foule, voyant que Jésus n'était pas là, ni ses disciples non plus, monta dans ces barques et vint à Capernaüm pour y chercher Jésus.
25 And when they had founde him on the other side of the sea, they sayde vnto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
Et l'ayant trouvé de l'autre côté de la mer, ils lui dirent: Maître, quand es-tu arrivé ici?
26 Iesus answered them; and sayde, Verely, verely I say vnto you, ye seeke me not because ye sawe the miracles, but because yee ate of ye loaues, and were filled.
Jésus leur répondit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le déclare, vous me cherchez, non parce que vous avez vu des miracles, mais parce que vous avez mangé des pains et que vous avez été rassasiés.
27 Labour not for ye meate which perisheth, but for the meate that endureth vnto euerlasting life, which the Sonne of man shall giue vnto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. (aiōnios g166)
Travaillez, non pour la nourriture qui périt, mais pour celle qui subsiste jusque dans la vie éternelle, et que le Fils de l'homme vous donnera; car c'est lui que le Père, Dieu lui-même, a marqué de son sceau. (aiōnios g166)
28 Then sayde they vnto him, What shall we doe, that we might worke the workes of God?
Ils lui dirent: Que ferons-nous pour travailler aux oeuvres de Dieu?
29 Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, This is the woorke of God, that yee beleeue in him, whome he hath sent.
Jésus leur répondit: C'est ici l'oeuvre de Dieu, que vous croyiez en Celui qu'il a envoyé.
30 They sayde therefore vnto him, What signe shewest thou then, that we may see it, and beleeue thee? what doest thou woorke?
Alors ils lui dirent: Quel miracle fais-tu donc, afin que nous le voyions et que nous croyions en toi? Quelle oeuvre accomplis-tu?
31 Our fathers did eate Manna in the desart, as it is written, Hee gaue them bread from heauen to eate.
Nos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, suivant ce qui est écrit: «Il leur a donné à manger le pain venu du ciel»
32 Then Iesus said vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, Moses gaue you not that bread from heauen, but my Father giueth you that true bread from heauen.
Jésus leur répondit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis. Moïse ne vous a point donné le pain du ciel; mais mon Père vous donne le vrai pain qui vient du ciel.
33 For the breade of God is hee which commeth downe from heauen, and giueth life vnto the world.
Car le pain de Dieu est celui qui descend du ciel, et qui donne la vie au monde.
34 Then they said vnto him, Lord, euermore giue vs this bread.
Ils lui dirent: Seigneur, donne-nous toujours ce pain-là!
35 And Iesus saide vnto them, I am that bread of life: he that commeth to me, shall not hunger, and he that beleeueth in me, shall neuer thirst.
Jésus reprit: Je suis le pain de vie; celui qui vient à moi n'aura jamais faim, et celui qui croit en moi n'aura jamais soif.
36 But I said vnto you, that ye also haue seene me, and beleeue not.
Mais je vous l'ai dit: Vous m'avez vu, et vous ne croyez pas.
37 All that the Father giueth me, shall come to mee: and him that commeth to me, I cast not away.
Tout ce que le Père me donne viendra à moi, et je ne mettrai point dehors celui qui vient à moi.
38 For I came downe from heauen, not to do mine owne wil, but his wil which hath sent me.
Car je suis descendu du ciel pour faire, non ma volonté, mais la volonté de Celui qui m'a envoyé.
39 And this is the Fathers will which hath sent mee, that of all which hee hath giuen mee, I should lose nothing, but shoulde raise it vp againe at the last day.
Or, la volonté de Celui qui m'a envoyé, c'est que je ne perde aucun de ceux qu'il m'a donnés, mais que je les ressuscite au dernier jour.
40 And this is the will of him that sent mee, that euery man which seeth the Sonne, and beleeueth in him, should haue euerlasting life: and I will raise him vp at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
Voici la volonté de mon Père: c'est que quiconque contemple le Fils et croit en lui, ait la vie éternelle; et moi, je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. (aiōnios g166)
41 The Iewes then murmured at him because hee sayde, I am that bread, which is come downe from heauen.
Cependant, les Juifs murmuraient contre lui, parce qu'il avait dit: Je suis le pain descendu du ciel.
42 And they said, Is not this Iesus that sonne of Ioseph, whose father and mother wee knowe? howe then sayth he, I came downe from heauen?
Et ils disaient: N'est-ce pas là Jésus, le fils de Joseph, dont nous connaissons le père et la mère? Comment donc dit-il: Je suis descendu du ciel?
43 Iesus then answered, and saide vnto them, Murmure not among your selues.
Jésus leur répondit: Ne murmurez pas entre vous.
44 No man can come to mee, except the Father, which hath sent mee, drawe him: and I will raise him vp at the last day.
Personne ne peut venir à moi, si le Père qui m'a envoyé ne l'attire; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour.
45 It is written in the Prophetes, And they shalbe al taught of God. Euery man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, commeth vnto me:
Il est écrit dans les prophètes: «Ils seront tous enseignés de Dieu.» Quiconque a écouté le Père et a été instruit par lui, vient à moi.
46 Not that any man hath seene the Father, saue hee which is of God, hee hath seene the Father.
Ce n'est pas que personne ait vu le Père, si ce n'est Celui qui vient de Dieu; celui-là a vu le Père.
En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui croit a la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
48 I am that bread of life.
Je suis le pain de vie.
49 Your fathers did eate Manna in the wildernesse, and are dead.
Vos pères ont mangé la manne dans le désert, et ils sont morts.
50 This is that breade, which commeth downe from heauen, that hee which eateth of it, shoulde not die.
C'est ici le pain qui descend du ciel, afin que celui qui en mange ne meure point.
51 I am that liuing breade, which came downe from heauen: if any man eate of this breade, hee shall liue for euer: and the bread that I will giue, is my flesh, which I will giue for the life of the world. (aiōn g165)
Je suis le pain vivant qui est descendu du ciel; si quelqu'un mange de ce pain, il vivra éternellement; et le pain que je donnerai pour la vie du monde, c'est ma chair. (aiōn g165)
52 Then the Iewes stroue among themselues, saying, Howe can this man giue vs his flesh to eate?
Là-dessus, les Juifs disputaient entre eux, disant: Comment cet homme peut-il nous donner sa chair à manger?
53 Then Iesus saide vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, Except yee eate the flesh of the Sonne of man, and drinke his blood, yee haue no life in you.
Jésus leur dit alors: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le déclare, si vous ne mangez la chair du Fils de l'homme, et si vous ne buvez son sang, vous n'avez point la vie en vous-mêmes.
54 Whosoeuer eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternall life, and I will raise him vp at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
Celui qui mange ma chair et qui boit mon sang, a la vie éternelle; et je le ressusciterai au dernier jour. (aiōnios g166)
55 For my flesh is meat in deede, and my blood is drinke in deede.
Car ma chair est vraiment une nourriture, et mon sang est vraiment un breuvage.
56 Hee that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
Celui qui mange ma chair et boit mon sang, demeure en moi, et moi en lui.
57 As that liuing Father hath sent me, so liue I by the Father, and he that eateth me, euen he shall liue by me.
De même que le Père, qui m'a envoyé, est vivant, et que moi, je vis par le Père, de même aussi, celui qui me mange vivra par moi.
58 This is that bread which came downe from heauen: not as your fathers haue eaten Manna, and are deade. Hee that eateth of this bread, shall liue for euer. (aiōn g165)
C'est ici le pain qui est descendu du ciel. Il n'en est pas de lui comme de la manne que vos pères ont mangée., et ils sont morts; celui qui mange ce pain vivra éternellement. (aiōn g165)
59 These things spake he in the Synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
Jésus dit ces choses, en enseignant dans la synagogue, à Capernaüm.
60 Many therefore of his disciples (when they heard this) sayde, This is an hard saying: who can heare it?
Plusieurs de ses disciples, l'ayant entendu, dirent: Cette parole est dure; qui peut l'écouter?
61 But Iesus knowing in himselfe, that his disciples murmured at this, saide vnto them, Doeth this offend you?
Mais Jésus, connaissant en lui-même que ses disciples murmuraient à ce sujet, leur dit: Cela vous scandalise-t-il?
62 What then if yee should see that Sonne of man ascend vp where he was before?
Que sera-ce donc, si vous voyez le Fils de l'homme monter où il était auparavant?
63 It is the spirite that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing: the woordes that I speake vnto you, are spirite and life.
C'est l'esprit qui vivifie, la chair ne sert de rien. Les paroles que je vous ai dites sont esprit et vie.
64 But there are some of you that beleeue not: for Iesus knewe from the beginning, which they were that beleeued not, and who shoulde betray him.
Mais il y en a parmi vous qui ne croient pas. En effet, Jésus savait, dès le commencement, quels étaient ceux qui ne croyaient pas, et quel était celui qui le trahirait.
65 And hee saide, Therefore saide I vnto you, that no man can come vnto mee, except it be giuen vnto him of my Father.
Et il disait: C'est à cause de cela que je vous ai déclaré que personne ne peut venir à moi, si cela ne lui a pas été donné par le Père.
66 From that time, many of his disciples went backe, and walked no more with him.
Dès ce moment, plusieurs de ses disciples se retirèrent, et ils n'allaient plus avec lui.
67 Then sayde Iesus to the twelue, Will yee also goe away?
Jésus dit aux Douze: Et vous, voulez-vous aussi vous en aller?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Master, to whome shall we goe? thou hast the wordes of eternall life: (aiōnios g166)
Simon Pierre lui répondit: Seigneur, à qui irions-nous? Tu as les paroles de la vie éternelle; (aiōnios g166)
69 And we beleeue and knowe that thou art that Christ that Sonne of the liuing God.
et nous avons cru, et nous avons connu que tu es le Saint de Dieu.
70 Iesus answered them, Haue not I chosen you twelue, and one of you is a deuill?
Jésus leur répondit: Ne vous ai-je pas choisis, vous les Douze? Et l'un de vous est un démon!
71 Now he spake it of Iudas Iscariot the sonne of Simon: for hee it was that shoulde betraie him, though he was one of the twelue.
Or il parlait de Judas, fils de Simon Iscariote; car c'était lui, l'un des Douze, qui devait le trahir.
