Joel 2

1 Blowe the trumpet in Zion, and shoute in mine holy mountaine: let all the inhabitants of the lande tremble: for the day of the Lord is come: for it is at hand.

Tocad la trompeta en Sión, dad la voz de alarma en mi santo monte. Tiemblen los moradores todos de la tierra, porque viene el día de Yahvé; ya está cerca.

2 A day of darkenesse, and of blacknesse, a day of cloudes, and obscuritie, as the morning spred vpon the mountaines, so is there a great people, and a mighty: there was none like it from the beginning, neither shalbe any more after it, vnto the yeeres of many generations.

Día de oscuridad y de densas tinieblas, día de nubes y de sombras espesas. Como la aurora sobre las montañas, así se derrama un pueblo numeroso y fuerte, tal como nunca ha existido desde el principio, ni existirá después de él en el transcurso de las generaciones.

3 A fire deuoureth before him, and behinde him a flame burneth vp: the land is as the garden of Eden before him, and behinde him a desolate wildernesse, so that nothing shall escape him.

Delante de él va fuego devorador, y en pos de él llama abrasadora. Delante de él la tierra es como un jardín de Edén, y detrás de él un desierto, una desolación. No hay quien pueda librarse de su poder.

4 The beholding of him is like the sight of horses, and like the horsemen, so shall they runne.

Su aspecto es como el aspecto de caballos, y como jinetes, así corren.

5 Like the noyse of charrets in the toppes of the mountaines shall they leape, like the noyse of a flame of fire that deuoureth the stubble, and as a mightie people prepared to the battel.

Saltan sobre las cimas de las montañas con un estruendo semejante al de los carros; su ruido es como el crepitar de llamas de fuego que devoran la paja; y como un pueblo fuerte, así se ordenan para batalla.

6 Before his face shall the people tremble: all faces shall gather blackenesse.

A su presencia se estremecen las naciones y todas las caras se ponen pálidas.

7 They shall runne like strong men, and goe vp to the wall like men of warre, and euery man shall goe forward in his wayes, and they shall not stay in their paths.

Corren como campeones, como hombres de guerra escalan el muro, marchan cada cual por su senda, sin desviarse de su camino.

8 Neither shall one thrust another, but euery one shall walke in his path: and when they fall vpon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

No se empujan unos a otros, cada uno sigue su rumbo; y aun cayendo sobre espadas no se hacen daño.

9 They shall runne to and from in the citie: they shall runne vpon the wall: they shall clime vp vpon the houses, and enter in at ye windowes like ye thiefe.

Asaltan la ciudad, corren por el muro, escalan las casas, entran por las ventanas como el ladrón.

10 The earth shall tremble before him, ye heauens shall shake, the sunne and the moone shalbe darke, and the starres shall withdraw their shining,

Ante ellos tiembla la tierra, se conmueve el cielo; el sol y la luna se oscurecen, y las estrellas pierden su resplandor.

11 And the Lord shall vtter his voyce before his hoste: for his hoste is very great: for he is strog that doeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can abide it?

Yahvé hace resonar su voz al frente de sus batallones, pues muy grande es su ejército, y fuertes son los que ejecutan sus órdenes. Porque grande es el día de Yahvé y muy terrible, ¿quién podrá soportarlo?

12 Therefore also now the Lord sayth, Turne you vnto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning,

Ahora, pues, dice Yahvé, convertíos a Mí de todo vuestro corazón; con ayuno, con llanto y plañido.

13 And rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turne vnto the Lord your God, for he is gratious, and mercifull, slowe to anger, and of great kindnes, and repenteth him of the euill.

Rasgad vuestros corazones, y no vuestros vestidos, y volveos a Yahvé, vuestro Dios; porque Él es benigno y misericordioso, tardo para airarse y de mucha clemencia, y le duele el mal.

14 Who knoweth, is he wil returne and repent and leaue a blessing behinde him, euen a meate offring, and a drinke offring vnto ye Lord your God?

¿Quién sabe si volviéndose no se arrepentirá, y dejará tras sí bendición, ofrenda y libación para Yahvé, vuestro Dios?

15 Blowe the trumpet in Zion, sanctifie a fast, call a solemne assembly.

Tocad la trompeta en Sión, promulgad un ayuno, convocad una solemne asamblea.

16 Gather the people: sanctifie the congregation, gather the elders: assemble the children, and those that sucke the breastes: let the bridegrome go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her bride chamber.

Congregad al pueblo, convocad a junta; reunid a los ancianos, juntad a los párvulos y los niños de pecho; salga de su cámara el joven esposo, y de su tálamo la esposa.

17 Let the Priestes, the ministers of the Lord weepe betweene the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and giue not thine heritage into reproche that the heathen should rule ouer them. Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

Entre el pórtico y el altar lloren los sacerdotes, ministros de Yahvé, y digan: “¡Apiádate, Yahvé, de tu pueblo, y no abandones al oprobio la herencia tuya, entregándolos al dominio de los gentiles. ¿Por qué ha de decirse entre las naciones: ¿Dónde está su Dios?”

18 Then will the Lord be ielous ouer his land, and spare his people.

Yahvé ardiendo en celos por su tierra, se ha compadecido de su pueblo;

19 Yea, the Lord wil answere and say vnto his people, Beholde, I will send you corne, and wine, and oyle, and you shalbe satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproche among the heathen,

y respondiendo dice Yahvé a su pueblo: Mirad, Yo os enviaré trigo, vino y aceite, y os saciaréis con ello; y no os haré ya más objeto de oprobio entre las naciones.

20 But I will remooue farre off from you the Northren armie, and I will driue him into a land, barren and desolate with his face toward the East sea, and his end to the vtmost sea, and his stinke shall come vp, and his corruption shall ascend, because he hath exalted himselfe to do this.

Alejaré de vosotros a aquel (que viene) del norte, y lo empujaré hacia una tierra árida y desierta, su vanguardia hacia el mar oriental, y su retaguardia hacia el mar occidental; y subirá su fetidez y se alzará su hedor, por haber obrado con soberbia.

21 Feare not, O land, but be glad, and reioyce: for the Lord wil do great things.

No temas, tierra, gózate y alégrate, porque Yahvé ha hecho cosas maravillosas.

22 Be not afrayde, ye beastes of the fielde: for the pastures of the wildernesse are greene: for the tree beareth her fruite: the figge tree and the vine do giue their force.

No temáis, animales del campo; pues reverdecen los pastos del desierto; los árboles dan su fruto, y la higuera y la vid sus riquezas.

23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and reioyce in the Lord your God: for he hath giuen you the rayne of righteousnes, he wil cause to come downe for you the rayne, euen the first raine, and the latter raine in the first moneth.

Saltad de gozo, hijos de Sión, y regocijaos en Yahvé, vuestro Dios; porque Él os dará al Maestro de la justicia; y hará caer sobre vosotros las lluvias, la lluvia temprana y la tardía, como anteriormente.

24 And the barnes shalbe full of wheate, and the presses shall abound with wine and oyle.

Se llenarán de trigo las eras, y los lagares rebosarán de vino y de aceite.

25 And I will render you the yeeres that the grashopper hath eaten, the canker worme and the caterpiller and the palmer worme, my great hoste which I sent among you.

Os compensaré los años que comió la (langosta), la arbeh, la yélek, la chasil y la gazam, mi gran ejército que envié contra vosotros.

26 So you shall eate and be satisfied and praise the Name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt marueilously with you: and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

Comeréis hasta saciaros, y alabaréis el Nombre de Yahvé, vuestro Dios, que ha hecho maravillas en favor de vosotros; y nunca jamás será confundido mi pueblo.

27 Ye shall also know, that I am in the middes of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God and none other, and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

Sabréis que en medio de Israel estoy Yo, y que Yo soy Yahvé, vuestro Dios, y que no hay otro; y jamás será avergonzado el pueblo mío.

28 And afterward will I powre out my Spirit vpon all flesh: and your sonnes and your daughters shall prophecie: your olde men shall dreame dreames, and your yong men shall see visions,

Después de esto, derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda carne; profetizarán vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas; vuestros ancianos tendrán sueños, y vuestros jóvenes verán visiones.

29 And also vpon the seruants, and vpon the maydes in those dayes wil I powre my Spirit.

Aun sobre los siervos y las siervas derramaré mi Espíritu en aquellos días.

30 And I will shewe wonders in the heauens and in the earth: blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.

Haré prodigios en el cielo y en la tierra; sangre y fuego y columnas de humo.

31 The sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.

El sol se convertirá en tinieblas, y la luna en sangre, antes que llegue el grande y terrible día de Yahvé.

32 But whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued: for in mount Zion, and in Ierusale shalbe deliuerance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.

Y sucederá que todo aquel que invocare el Nombre de Yahvé será salvo. Porque, como dijo Yahvé, habrá salvación en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, y entre los restos que habrá llamado Yahvé.
