Job 8
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and saide,
Da antwortete Bildad, der Schuchiter, und sprach:
2 Howe long wilt thou talke of these things? and howe long shall the wordes of thy mouth be as a mightie winde?
Wie lange willst du solches reden und sollen die Reden deines Mundes sein wie heftiger Wind?
3 Doeth God peruert iudgement? or doeth the Almightie subuert iustice?
Beugt denn Gott das Recht, und verkehrt der Allmächtige die Gerechtigkeit?
4 If thy sonnes haue sinned against him, and he hath sent them into the place of their iniquitie,
Wenn deine Kinder gegen ihn gesündigt haben, so hat er sie dahingegeben in die Gewalt ihrer Missetat.
5 Yet if thou wilt early seeke vnto God, and pray to the Almightie,
Wirst du nun Gott ernstlich suchen und zum Allmächtigen um Gnade flehen,
6 If thou be pure and vpright, then surely hee will awake vp vnto thee, and he wil make the habitation of thy righteousnesse prosperous.
wirst du lauter und aufrichtig sein, so wird er für dich eifern und die Zierde deiner Gerechtigkeit wieder herstellen.
7 And though thy beginning be small, yet thy latter ende shall greatly encrease.
Da wird dein früheres Glück im Vergleich zu deinem spätern klein sein.
8 Inquire therefore, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thy selfe to search of their fathers.
Denn frage doch das frühere Geschlecht und beherzige die Erfahrungen der Väter!
9 (For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant: for our dayes vpon earth are but a shadowe)
Denn von gestern sind wir und wissen nichts, ein Schatten nur sind unsere Tage auf Erden.
10 Shall not they teach thee and tell thee, and vtter the wordes of their heart?
Fürwahr, sie werden dich belehren, sie können dir's sagen und Sprüche hervorholen aus ihrem Herzen:
11 Can a rush grow without myre? or can ye grasse growe without water?
Schießt der Papyrus ohne Sumpf empor, gedeiht, wo Wasser fehlt, des Schilfes Rohr,
12 Though it were in greene and not cutte downe, yet shall it wither before any other herbe.
das doch, wenn es noch in vollem Triebe steht, ehe es geschnitten wird, zugrunde geht?
13 So are the paths of al that forget God, and the hypocrites hope shall perish.
Das ist der Weg, den alle Gottvergessenen ziehn: Auch ihre Hoffnung welkt wie Gras dahin!
14 His confidence also shalbe cut off, and his trust shalbe as the house of a spyder.
Ein Spinngewebe ist des Frevlers Haus, mit seinem Trotzen ist es plötzlich aus;
15 He shall leane vpon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall holde him fast by it, yet shall it not endure.
vergeblich stützt er sich und trotzt darauf; er fällt dahin und steht nicht wieder auf.
16 The tree is greene before the sunne, and the branches spread ouer the garden thereof.
Und jener dort, er grünt im Sonnenglanz, die Ranken überziehn den Garten ganz;
17 The rootes thereof are wrapped about the fountaine, and are folden about ye house of stones.
die Wurzeln flechten ins Gemäuer sich ein, hoch schlingt er sich empor am Haus von Stein.
18 If any plucke it from his place, and it denie, saying, I haue not seene thee,
Doch tilgt ihn Gott von seiner Stätte, so spricht sie: Mir ist nicht bewußt, daß ich dich je gesehen hätte!
19 Beholde, it will reioyce by this meanes, that it may growe in another molde.
Siehe, das ist seines Weges Lust, das Ende von des Sünders Lebenslauf: Es stehen aus seinem Staube andre auf.
20 Behold, God will not cast away an vpright man, neither will he take the wicked by the hand,
Siehe, Gott verwirft den Unschuldigen nicht; er reicht aber auch keinem Übeltäter die Hand,
21 Till he haue filled thy mouth with laughter, and thy lippes with ioy.
auf daß er deinen Mund mit Lachen fülle und deine Lippen mit Freudengeschrei,
22 They that hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling of the wicked shall not remaine.
daß deine Hasser mit Schande bekleidet werden und das Zelt der Gottlosen nicht mehr sei!
