< Job 40 >

1 Moreouer ye Lord spake vnto Iob, and said,
Korero mai ano a Ihowa ki a Hopa, i mea,
2 Is this to learne to striue with the Almightie? he that reprooueth God, let him answere to it.
3 Then Iob answered the Lord, saying,
Ano ra ko Hopa ki a Ihowa; i mea ia,
4 Beholde, I am vile: what shall I answere thee? I will lay mine hand vpon my mouth.
Nana, ehara noa iho ahau. Ko te aha taku e whakahoki atu ai ki a koe? Ka kopania toku ringa ki toku mangai.
5 Once haue I spoken, but I will answere no more, yea twise, but I will proceede no further.
Kua kotahi taku koreotanga, a e kore ahau e whakahoki kupu atu; a tuarua rawa, otira kahore atu aku.
6 Againe the Lord answered Iob out of the whirle winde, and said,
Katahi ka whakahokia mai e Ihowa ki a Hopa i roto i te tukauati, ka mea,
7 Girde vp now thy loynes like a man: I will demaunde of thee, and declare thou vnto me.
Tena ra, whakatane, whitikiria tou hope, a ka ui atu ahau ki a koe, mau ano e whakaatu mai ki ahau.
8 Wilt thou disanul my iudgement? or wilt thou condemne me, that thou mayst be iustified?
Me whakakahore ano ranei e koe taku whakawa? Me whakahe ki ahau kia whakatikaia ai tau?
9 Or hast thou an arme like God? or doest thou thunder with a voyce like him?
He ringa pera ranei tou i to te Atua? He reo whatitiri ranei tou, he pera i tona?
10 Decke thy selfe now with maiestie and excellencie, and aray thy selfe with beautie and glory.
11 Cast abroad the indignation of thy wrath, and beholde euery one that is proude, and abase him.
Ringihia atu te puhaketanga o tou riri; tirohia atu nga mea whakakake katoa, whakaititia iho.
12 Looke on euery one that is arrogant, and bring him lowe: and destroy the wicked in their place.
13 Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place.
14 Then will I confesse vnto thee also, that thy right hand can saue thee.
15 Behold now Behemoth (whom I made with thee) which eateth grasse as an oxe.
Na whakaaroa a Pehemoto, he mea hanga ngatahi korua naku; e kai ra i te tarutaru, ano he kau.
16 Behold now, his strength is in his loynes, and his force is in the nauil of his belly.
Nana, ko tona kaha kei tona hope, ko tona pakaritanga kei nga uaua o tona kopu.
17 When hee taketh pleasure, his taile is like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapt together.
Ko tona hiawero, ano he hita e tawhiria ana e ia: powhiwhiwhi tonu nga uaua o tona huha.
18 His bones are like staues of brasse, and his small bones like staues of yron.
Ko ona wheua, ano he korere parahi; ko ona rara, he poro rino.
19 He is the chiefe of the wayes of God: he that made him, will make his sworde to approch vnto him.
20 Surely the mountaines bring him foorth grasse, where all the beastes of the fielde play.
He pono ko nga maunga hei homai kai mana; kei reira ano e takaro ana nga kirehe katoa o te parae.
21 Lyeth hee vnder the trees in the couert of the reede and fennes?
Ko tona takotoranga ko raro i nga rakau kouru nui, i te rake kakaho, i te repo.
22 Can the trees couer him with their shadow? or can the willowes of the riuer compasse him about?
Hei taupoki mona te whakamarumaru o nga rakau kouru nui, kei tetahi taha ona, kei tetahi taha, nga wirou o te awa.
23 Behold, he spoyleth the riuer, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw vp Iorden into his mouth.
24 Hee taketh it with his eyes, and thrusteth his nose through whatsoeuer meeteth him.
E hopukia ranei ia e tetahi i a ia e mataara ana, e poka ranei i tona ihu ki te rore, puta noa?
