Job 40
1 Moreouer ye Lord spake vnto Iob, and said,
Ja Herra vastasi Jobia ja sanoi:
2 Is this to learne to striue with the Almightie? he that reprooueth God, let him answere to it.
Joka riitelee Kaikkivaltiaan kanssa, eikö hänen pitäis sitä vahvistaman? ja se joka nuhtelee Jumalaa, eikö hänen pitäis vastaaman?
3 Then Iob answered the Lord, saying,
Job vastasi Herraa ja sanoi:
4 Beholde, I am vile: what shall I answere thee? I will lay mine hand vpon my mouth.
Katso, minä olen halpa, mitä minä sinua vastaan? minä lasken käteni suuni päälle.
5 Once haue I spoken, but I will answere no more, yea twise, but I will proceede no further.
Minä olen kerran puhunut, en minä enempää vastaa, enkä toiste sitä enää tee.
6 Againe the Lord answered Iob out of the whirle winde, and said,
Ja Herra vastasi Jobia tuulispäästä ja sanoi:
7 Girde vp now thy loynes like a man: I will demaunde of thee, and declare thou vnto me.
Vyötä kupees niinkuin mies: Minä kysyn sinulta, ja vastaa sinä minua.
8 Wilt thou disanul my iudgement? or wilt thou condemne me, that thou mayst be iustified?
Pitäiskö sinun minun tuomioni tyhjäksi tekemän, ja minua vääräksi soimaaman, ettäs itse olisit hurskas?
9 Or hast thou an arme like God? or doest thou thunder with a voyce like him?
Onko sinulla käsivarsi niinkuin Jumalalla? ja taidatkos yhdenkaltaisella äänellä jylistää hänen kanssansa.
10 Decke thy selfe now with maiestie and excellencie, and aray thy selfe with beautie and glory.
Kaunista sinus suurella kunnialla ja korkeudella: pueta sinus kiitoksella ja kunnialla,
11 Cast abroad the indignation of thy wrath, and beholde euery one that is proude, and abase him.
Hajoita sinun julmuutes viha, ja katso kaikkia ylpeitä ja nöyryytä heitä.
12 Looke on euery one that is arrogant, and bring him lowe: and destroy the wicked in their place.
Katso kaikkia ylpeitä, ja alaspaina heitä, ja kukista jumalattomat paikastansa.
13 Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place.
Hautaa heitä kaikkia maahan, ja upota heidän jaloutensa kätköön.
14 Then will I confesse vnto thee also, that thy right hand can saue thee.
Niin minä tunnustan sinun oikian kätes auttavan sinua.
15 Behold now Behemoth (whom I made with thee) which eateth grasse as an oxe.
Katso nyt Behemotia, jonka minä sinun vierees tehnyt olen, joka syö heiniä niinkuin härkä.
16 Behold now, his strength is in his loynes, and his force is in the nauil of his belly.
Katso, hänen väkensä on hänen kupeissansa, ja hänen voimansa hänen vatsansa navassa.
17 When hee taketh pleasure, his taile is like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapt together.
Hänen häntänsä ojentuu niinkuin sedripuu, ja hänen salaisen kalunsa suonet ovat niinkuin puun oksat.
18 His bones are like staues of brasse, and his small bones like staues of yron.
Hänen luunsa ovat vahvat niinkuin vaski, hänen ruotonsa niinkuin rautaiset seipäät.
19 He is the chiefe of the wayes of God: he that made him, will make his sworde to approch vnto him.
Hän on alku Jumalan teistä; joka hänen tehnyt on, hän voittaa hänen miekallansa.
20 Surely the mountaines bring him foorth grasse, where all the beastes of the fielde play.
Vuori kantaa hänelle ruohot; ja kaikki pedot leikitsevät siellä.
21 Lyeth hee vnder the trees in the couert of the reede and fennes?
Hän makaa mielellänsä varjossa, lymyssä kaisloissa ja mudassa.
22 Can the trees couer him with their shadow? or can the willowes of the riuer compasse him about?
Pensas peittää hänen varjollansa, ja ojan halavat peittävät hänen.
23 Behold, he spoyleth the riuer, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw vp Iorden into his mouth.
Katso, koska virta ylöttää häntä, niin ei hän pelkää: hän on rohkia, vaikka Jordan hänen suuhunsa asti kuohuis.
24 Hee taketh it with his eyes, and thrusteth his nose through whatsoeuer meeteth him.
