Job 38
1 Then answered the Lord vnto Iob out of the whirle winde, and said,
Nato Jahve odgovori Jobu iz oluje i reče:
2 Who is this that darkeneth the counsell by wordes without knowledge?
“Tko je taj koji riječima bezumnim zamračuje božanski promisao?
3 Girde vp nowe thy loynes like a man: I will demande of thee and declare thou vnto me.
Bokove svoje opaši k'o junak: ja ću te pitat', a ti me pouči.
4 Where wast thou when I layd the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast vnderstanding,
Gdje si bio kad zemlju utemeljih? Kazuj, ako ti je znanje sigurno.
5 Who hath layde the measures thereof, if thou knowest, or who hath stretched the line ouer it:
Znaš li tko joj je mjere odredio i nad njom uže mjerničko napeo?
6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof set: or who layed the corner stone thereof:
Na čemu joj počivaju temelji? Tko joj postavi kamen ugaoni
7 When the starres of the morning praysed me together, and all the children of God reioyced:
dok su klicale zvijezde jutarnje i Božji uzvikivali dvorjani?
8 Or who hath shut vp the Sea with doores, when it yssued and came foorth as out of the wombe:
Tko li zatvori more vratnicama kad je navrlo iz krila majčina;
9 When I made the cloudes as a couering thereof, and darkenesse as the swadeling bands thereof:
kad ga oblakom k'o haljom odjenuh i k'o pelenam' ovih maglom gustom;
10 When I stablished my commandement vpon it, and set barres and doores,
kad sam njegovu odredio među, vrata stavio sa prijevornicama?
11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no farther, and here shall it stay thy proude waues.
Dotle, ne dalje, rekao sam njemu, tu nek' se lomi ponos tvog valovlja!
12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy dayes? hast thou caused the morning to knowe his place,
Zar si ikad zapovjedio jutru, zar si kazao zori mjesto njeno,
13 That it might take hold of the corners of the earth, and that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
da poduhvati zemlju za rubove i da iz nje sve bezbožnike strese;
14 It is turned as clay to facion, and all stand vp as a garment.
da je pretvori u glinu pečatnu i oboji je k'o kakvu haljinu.
15 And from the wicked their light shall be taken away, and the hie arme shalbe broken.
Ona uzima svjetlost zlikovcima i pesnicu im lomi uzdignutu.
16 Hast thou entred into the bottomes of the sea? or hast thou walked to seeke out the depth?
Zar si ti prodro do izvora morskih, po dnu bezdana zar si kad hodio?
17 Haue the gates of death bene opened vnto thee? or hast thou seene the gates of the shadowe of death?
Zar su ti vrata smrti pokazali; vidje li dveri kraja mrtvih sjena?
18 Hast thou perceiued the breadth of the earth? tell if thou knowest all this.
Zar si prostranstvo zemlje uočio? Govori, ako ti je znano sve to.
19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and where is the place of darkenesse,
Koji putovi u dom svjetla vode, na kojem mjestu prebivaju tmine,
20 That thou shouldest receiue it in the boundes thereof, and that thou shouldest knowe the paths to the house thereof?
da ih odvedeš u njine krajeve, da im put k stanu njihovu pokažeš?
21 Knewest thou it, because thou wast then borne, and because the nomber of thy dayes is great?
Ti znadeš to, tÓa davno ti se rodi, tvojih dana broj veoma je velik!
22 Hast thou entred into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seene the treasures of ye haile,
Zar si stigao do riznica snijega i zar si tuče spremišta vidio
23 Which I haue hid against the time of trouble, against the day of warre and battell?
što ih pričuvah za dane nevolje, za vrijeme boja krvava i rata?
24 By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the East winde vpon the earth?
Kojim li se putem dijeli munja kada iskre po svoj zemlji prosipa?
25 Who hath deuided the spowtes for the raine? or the way for the lightning of ye thunders,
Tko li je jaz iskopao povodnju, tko prokrčio pute grmljavini
26 To cause it to raine on the earth where no man is, and in the wildernes where there is no man?
da bi daždjelo na kraj nenastanjen, na pustinju gdje žive duše nema,
27 To fulfil the wilde and waste place, and to cause the bud of the herbe to spring forth?
da bi neplodnu napojio pustoš, da bi u stepi trava izniknula?
28 Who is the father of the rayne? or who hath begotten the droppes of the dewe?
Ima li kiša svoga roditelja? Tko je taj koji kapi rose rađa?
29 Out of whose wombe came the yee? who hath ingendred the frost of the heauen?
Iz čijeg li mraz izlazi krila, tko slanu stvara što s nebesa pada?
30 The waters are hid as with a stone: and the face of the depth is frosen.
Kako čvrsnu vode poput kamena i led se hvata površja bezdana?
31 Canst thou restraine the sweete influences of the Pleiades? or loose the bandes of Orion?
Možeš li lancem vezati Vlašiće i razdriješiti spone Orionu,
32 Canst thou bring foorth Mazzaroth in their time? canst thou also guide Arcturus with his sonnes?
u pravo vrijeme izvesti Danicu, vodit' Medvjeda s njegovim mladima?
33 Knowest thou the course of heauen, or canst thou set the rule thereof in the earth?
Zar poznaješ ti zakone nebeske pa da njima moć na zemlji dodijeliš?
34 Canst thou lift vp thy voice to the cloudes that the aboundance of water may couer thee?
Zar doviknuti možeš oblacima pa da pljuskovi tebe poslušaju?
35 Canst thou sende the lightenings that they may walke, and say vnto thee, Loe, heere we are?
Zar na zapovijed tvoju munje lijeću i tebi zar se odazivlju: 'Evo nas'?
36 Who hath put wisedome in the reines? or who hath giuen the heart vnderstanding?
Tko je mudrost darovao ibisu, tko li je pamet ulio u pijetla?
37 Who can nomber cloudes by wisedome? or who can cause to cease the bottels of heaue,
Tko to mudro prebrojava oblake i tko nebeske izlijeva mjehove
38 When the earth groweth into hardnesse, and the clottes are fast together?
dok se zemlja u tijesto ne zgusne i dok se grude njezine ne slijepe?
39 Wilt thou hunt the pray for the lyon? or fill the appetite of the lyons whelpes,
Zar ćeš ti plijen uloviti lavici ili ćeš glad utažit' lavićima
40 When they couch in their places, and remaine in the couert to lye in waite?
na leglu svojem dok gladni čekaju i vrebaju na žrtvu iz zaklona?
41 Who prepareth for the rauen his meate, when his birdes crie vnto God, wandering for lacke of meate?
Tko hranu gavranovima pribavlja kad Bogu ptići njegovi cijuču i naokolo oblijeću bez hrane?
