Job 36
1 Elihu also proceeded and sayde,
Proseguiu ainda Elihu, e disse:
2 Suffer me a litle, and I will instruct thee: for I haue yet to speake on Gods behalfe.
Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que ainda há razões a favor de Deus.
3 I will fetche my knowledge afarre off, and will attribute righteousnes vnto my Maker.
Desde longe repetirei a minha opinião; e ao meu criador atribuirei a justiça.
4 For truely my wordes shall not be false, and he that is perfect in knowledge, speaketh with thee.
Porque na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas: contigo está um que é sincero na sua opinião.
5 Behold, the mighty God casteth away none that is mighty and valiant of courage.
Eis que Deus é mui grande, contudo a ninguém despreza: grande é em força de coração.
6 He mainteineth not the wicked, but he giueth iudgement to the afflicted.
Não deixa viver ao ímpio, e faz justiça aos aflitos.
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but they are with Kings in ye throne, where he placeth them for euer: thus they are exalted.
Do justo não tira os seus olhos; antes estão com os reis no trono; ali os assenta para sempre, e assim são exaltados.
8 And if they bee bound in fetters and tyed with the cordes of affliction,
E, se estando presos em grilhões, os detém amarrados com cordas de aflição,
9 Then will he shewe them their worke and their sinnes, because they haue bene proude.
Então lhes faz saber a obra deles, e as suas transgressões; porquanto prevaleceram nelas.
10 He openeth also their eare to discipline, and commandeth them that they returne from iniquity.
E revela-lho aos seus ouvidos, para seu ensino; e diz-lhes que se convertam da maldade.
11 If they obey and serue him, they shall end their dayes in prosperity, and their yeres in pleasures.
Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em bem, e os seus anos em delícias.
12 But if they wil not obey, they shall passe by the sworde, and perish without knowledge.
Porém se o não ouvirem, à espada os passarão, e expirarão sem conhecimento.
13 But the hypocrites of heart increase the wrath: for they call not when he bindeth them.
E os hipócritas de coração amontoam para si a ira; e amarrando-os ele, não clamam por socorro.
14 Their soule dyeth in youth, and their life among the whoremongers.
A sua alma morre na mocidade, e a sua vida entre os sodomitas.
15 He deliuereth the poore in his affliction, and openeth their eare in trouble.
Ao aflito livra, da sua aflição, e na opressão o revelará aos seus ouvidos.
16 Euen so woulde he haue taken thee out of the streight place into a broade place and not shut vp beneath: and that which resteth vpon thy table, had bene full of fat.
Assim também te desviará da boca da angústia para um lugar espaçoso, em que não haja aperto, e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.
17 But thou art ful of the iudgement of the wicked, though iudgement and equitie maintaine all things.
E estarás satisfeito com o juízo do ímpio: o juízo e a justiça te sustentarão.
18 For Gods wrath is, least hee should take that away in thine abundance: for no multitude of giftes can deliuer thee.
Porquanto há furor, guarda-te de que porventura te não tire de pancada, pois por grande preço te não poderiam retirar dali.
19 Wil he regard thy riches? he regardeth not golde, nor all them that excel in strength.
Estimaria ele tanto tuas riquezas, ou alguns esforços da força, que por isso não estivesses em aperto?
20 Be not carefull in the night, howe he destroyeth the people out of their place.
Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu lugar.
21 Take thou heede: looke not to iniquitie: for thou hast chosen it rather then affliction.
Guarda-te, e não declines para a iniquidade: porquanto nisto a escolheste, por causa da tua miséria.
22 Beholde, God exalteth by his power: what teacher is like him?
Eis que Deus exalta com a sua força; quem ensina como ele?
23 Who hath appointed to him his way? or who can say, Thou hast done wickedly?
Quem lhe pedirá conta do seu caminho? ou, quem lhe disse: Tu cometeste maldade?
24 Remember that thou magnifie his worke, which men behold.
Lembra-te de que engrandeças a sua obra que os homens contemplam.
25 All men see it, and men beholde it afarre off.
Todos os homens a veem, e o homem a enxerga de longe.
26 Beholde, God is excellent, and we knowe him not, neither can the nomber of his yeres bee searched out.
Eis que Deus é grande, e nós o não compreendemos, e o número dos seus anos se não pode esquadrinhar.
27 When he restraineth the droppes of water, the rayne powreth down by the vapour thereof,
Porque faz miúdas as gotas das águas que derramam a chuva do seu vapor.
28 Which raine the cloudes do droppe and let fall abundantly vpon man.
A qual as nuvens destilam e gotejam sobre o homem abundantemente.
29 Who can know the diuisions of ye clouds and the thunders of his tabernacle?
Porventura também se poderão entender as extensões das nuvens, e os estalos da sua tenda?
30 Beholde, he spreadeth his light vpon it, and couereth the bottome of the sea.
Eis que estende sobre elas a sua luz, e encobre os altos do mar.
31 For thereby hee iudgeth the people, and giueth meate abundantly.
Porque por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundância.
32 He couereth the light with the clouds, and commandeth them to go against it.
Com as mãos encobre a luz, e faz-lhe proibição pela que passa por entre elas.
33 His companion sheweth him thereof, and there is anger in rising vp.
O que dá a entender o seu pensamento, como também aos gados, acerca do temporal que sobe.
