Job 35

1 Elihu spake moreouer, and said,

Entonces Elihú continuó diciendo:

2 Thinkest thou this right, that thou hast said, I am more righteous then God?

“¿Crees que es honesto afirmar que tienes razón ante Dios?

3 For thou hast said, What profiteth it thee and what auaileth it me, to purge me from my sinne?

Y preguntas: ‘¿Qué beneficio obtengo? ¿De qué me ha servido no pecar?’

4 Therefore will I answere thee, and thy companions with thee.

“¡Te lo diré, y a tus amigos también!

5 Looke vnto the heauen, and see and behold the cloudes which are hyer then thou.

Sólo tienes que mirar al cielo y ver. Observa las nubes en lo alto.

6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him, yea, when thy sinnes be many, what doest thou vnto him?

Si pecas, ¿en qué perjudica eso a Dios? ¿Cómo afectan tus muchos pecados a Dios?

7 If thou be righteous, what giuest thou vnto him? or what receiueth he at thine hand?

Si haces lo correcto, ¿qué bien le haces a él?

8 Thy wickednesse may hurt a man as thou art: and thy righteousnes may profite ye sonne of man.

No. Tus pecados sólo afectan a la gente como tú, y cualquier bien que hagas también les afecta a ellos.

9 They cause many that are oppressed, to crye, which crye out for ye violence of the mightie.

“La gente clama a causa de las terribles persecuciones, pide que alguien la salve de sus opresores.

10 But none saieth, Where is God that made me, which giueth songs in the nyght?

Pero nadie pregunta: ‘¿Dónde está mi Dios creador, el que inspira cantos en la noche,

11 Which teacheth vs more then the beastes of the earth, and giueth vs more wisdome then the foules of the heauen.

que nos enseña más que los animales y nos hace más sabios que las aves?’

12 Then they crye because of the violence of the wicked, but he answereth not.

Cuando claman por ayuda, Dios no responde porque son gente orgullosa y malvada.

13 Surely God will not heare vanitie, neyther will the Almightie regard it.

Dios no escucha sus gritos vacíos; el Todopoderoso no les hace caso.

14 Although thou sayest to God, Thou wilt not regard it, yet iudgement is before him: trust thou in him.

¿Cuánto menos te escuchará Dios cuando le digas que no te ve? Tu caso está ante él, así que tienes que esperarlo.

15 But nowe because his anger hath not visited, nor called to count the euill with great extremitie,

“Estás diciendo que Dios no castiga a la gente en su ira y presta poca atención al pecado.

16 Therfore Iob openeth his mouth in vaine, and multiplieth wordes without knowledge.

Tú, Job, hablas sin sentido, haciendo largos discursos cuando no sabes nada!”
