Job 26
1 Bvt Iob answered, and sayde,
そこでヨブは答えて言った、
2 Whom helpest thou? him that hath no power? sauest thou the arme that hath no strength?
「あなたは力のない者をどれほど助けたかしれない。気力のない腕をどれほど救ったかしれない。
3 Whome counsellest thou? him that hath no wisedome? thou shewest right well as the thing is.
知恵のない者をどれほど教えたかしれない。悟りをどれほど多く示したかしれない。
4 To whom doest thou declare these words? or whose spirit commeth out of thee?
あなたはだれの助けによって言葉をだしたのか。あなたから出たのはだれの霊なのか。
5 The dead things are formed vnder the waters, and neere vnto them.
亡霊は水およびその中に住むものの下に震う。
神の前では陰府も裸である。滅びの穴もおおい隠すものはない。 (Sheol h7585)
7 He stretcheth out the North ouer the emptie place, and hangeth the earth vpon nothing.
彼は北の天を空間に張り、地を何もない所に掛けられる。
8 He bindeth the waters in his cloudes, and the cloude is not broken vnder them.
彼は水を濃い雲の中に包まれるが、その下の雲は裂けない。
9 He holdeth backe the face of his throne: and spreadeth his cloude vpon it.
彼は月のおもてをおおい隠して、雲をその上にのべ、
10 He hath set bounds about the waters, vntil the day and night come to an ende.
水のおもてに円を描いて、光とやみとの境とされた。
11 The pillars of heauen tremble and quake at his reproofe.
彼が戒めると、天の柱は震い、かつ驚く。
12 The sea is calme by his power, and by his vnderstanding he smiteth the pride thereof.
彼はその力をもって海を静め、その知恵をもってラハブを打ち砕き、
13 His Spirite hath garnished the heauens, and his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
その息をもって天を晴れわたらせ、その手をもって逃げるへびを突き通される。
14 Loe, these are part of his wayes: but how litle a portion heare we of him? and who can vnderstand his fearefull power?
見よ、これらはただ彼の道の端にすぎない。われわれが彼について聞く所はいかにかすかなささやきであろう。しかし、その力のとどろきに至っては、だれが悟ることができるか」。
