Job 22
1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered, and sayde,
Então respondeu Eliphaz o temanita, e disse:
2 May a man be profitable vnto God, as he that is wise, may be profitable to himselfe?
Porventura o homem será d'algum proveito a Deus? antes a si mesmo o prudente será proveitoso.
3 Is it any thing vnto the Almightie, that thou art righteous? or is it profitable to him, that thou makest thy wayes vpright?
Ou tem o Todo-poderoso prazer em que tu sejas justo? ou lucro algum que tu faças perfeitos os teus caminhos?
4 Is it for feare of thee that he will accuse thee? or go with thee into iudgement?
Ou te reprehende, pelo temor que tem de ti? ou entra comtigo em juizo?
5 Is not thy wickednes great, and thine iniquities innumerable?
Porventura não é grande a tua malicia? e sem termo as tuas iniquidades?
6 For thou hast taken the pledge from thy brother for nought, and spoyled the clothes of the naked.
Porque penhoraste a teus irmãos sem causa alguma, e aos nus despiste os vestidos.
7 To such as were wearie, thou hast not giuen water to drinke, and hast withdrawen bread from the hungrie.
Não déste de beber agua ao cançado, e ao faminto retiveste o pão.
8 But the mightie man had the earth, and he that was in autoritie, dwelt in it.
Mas para o violento era a terra, e o homem tido em respeito habitava n'ella.
9 Thou hast cast out widowes emptie, and the armes of the fatherles were broken.
As viuvas despediste vazias, e os braços dos orphãos foram quebrantados.
10 Therefore snares are round about thee, and feare shall suddenly trouble thee:
Por isso é que estás cercado de laços, e te perturbou um pavor repentino,
11 Or darkenes that thou shouldest not see, and abundance of waters shall couer thee.
Ou as trevas que não vês, e a abundancia d'agua que te cobre.
12 Is not God on hie in the heauen? and behold the height of the starres how hie they are.
Porventura Deus não está na altura dos céus? olha pois para o cume das estrellas, quão levantadas estão.
13 But thou sayest, How should God know? can he iudge through the darke cloude?
E dizes que sabe Deus d'isto? porventura julgará por entre a escuridão?
14 The cloudes hide him that he can not see, and he walketh in the circle of heauen.
As nuvens são escondedura para elle, para que não veja: e passeia pelo circuito dos céus.
15 Hast thou marked the way of the worlde, wherein wicked men haue walked?
Porventura consideraste a vereda do seculo passado, que pisaram os homens iniquos?
16 Which were cut downe before the time, whose foundation was as a riuer that ouerflowed:
Os quaes foram arrebatados antes do seu tempo: sobre cujo fundamento um diluvio se derramou.
17 Which sayd vnto God, Depart from vs, and asked what the Almightie could do for them.
Diziam a Deus: Retira-te de nós. E que é o que o Todo-poderoso lhes fez?
18 Yet hee filled their houses with good things: but let the counsell of the wicked be farre from me.
Sendo elle o que enchera de bens as suas casas: mas o conselho dos impios esteja longe de mim.
19 The righteous shall see them, and shall reioyce, and the innocent shall laugh them to scorne.
Os justos o viram, e se alegravam, e o innocente escarneceu d'elles.
20 Surely our substance is hid: but the fire hath deuoured the remnant of them.
Porquanto o nosso estado não foi destruido, mas o fogo consumiu o resto d'elles.
21 Therefore acquaint thy selfe, I pray thee, with him, and make peace: thereby thou shalt haue prosperitie.
Acostuma-te pois a elle, e tem paz, e assim te sobrevirá o bem.
22 Receiue, I pray thee, the law of his mouth, and lay vp his words in thine heart.
Acceita, peço-te, a lei da sua bocca, e põe as suas palavras no teu coração.
23 If thou returne to the Almightie, thou shalt be buylt vp, and thou shalt put iniquitie farre from thy tabernacle.
Se te converteres ao Todo-poderoso, serás edificado: affasta a iniquidade da tua tenda.
24 Thou shalt lay vp golde for dust, and the gold of Ophir, as the flintes of the riuers.
Então amontoarás oiro como pó, e o oiro d'Ophir como pedras dos ribeiros.
25 Yea, the Almightie shalbe thy defence, and thou shalt haue plentie of siluer.
E até o Todo-poderoso te será por oiro, e a tua prata amontoada.
26 And thou shalt then delite in the Almightie, and lift vp thy face vnto God.
Porque então te deleitarás no Todo-poderoso, e levantarás o teu rosto para Deus.
27 Thou shalt make thy praier vnto him, and he shall heare thee, and thou shalt render thy vowes.
Devéras orarás, a elle, e elle te ouvirá, e pagarás os teus votos.
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and he shall establish it vnto thee, and the light shall shine vpon thy wayes.
Determinando tu algum negocio, ser-te-ha firme, e a luz brilhará em teus caminhos.
29 When others are cast downe, then shalt thou say, I am lifted vp: and God shall saue the humble person.
Quando abaterem, então tu dirás: Haja exaltação: e Deus salvará ao humilde.
30 The innocent shall deliuer the yland, and it shalbe preserued by the purenes of thine hands.
E livrará até ao que não é innocente; porque fica livre pela pureza de tuas mãos.
