Jeremiah 1
1 The wordes of Ieremiah the sonne of Hilkiah one of the Priests that were at Anathoth in the lande of Beniamin.

2 To whom the worde of the Lord came in the dayes of Iosiah the sonne of Amon King of Iudah in the thirteenth yeere of his reigne:
Có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng người trong đời Giô-si-a, con trai A-môn, vua Giu-đa, năm thứ mười ba đời vua ấy;
3 And also in the dayes of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah vnto the ende of the eleuenth yeere of Zedekiah, the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, euen vnto the carying away of Ierusalem captiue in the fift moneth.
lại có phán cùng người trong đời Giê-hô-gia-kim, con trai Giô-si-a, vua Giu-đa, cho đến cuối năm thứ mười một đời vua Sê-đê-kia, con trai Giô-si-a, vua Giu-đa, tức là năm mà Giê-ru-sa-lem bị bắt làm phu tù trong tháng thứ năm.
4 Then the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
Có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng tôi như vầy: Trước khi tạo nên ngươi trong lòng mẹ, ta đã biết ngươi rồi;
5 Before I formed thee in the wombe, I knewe thee, and before thou camest out of the wombe, I sanctified thee, and ordeined thee to be a Prophet vnto the nations.
trước khi ngươi sanh ra, ta đã biệt riêng ngươi, lập ngươi làm kẻ tiên tri cho các nước.
6 Then said I, Oh, Lord God, behold, I can not speake, for I am a childe.
Tôi thưa rằng: Ôi! hãy Chúa Giê-hô-va, nầy tôi chẳng biết nói chi, vì tôi là con trẻ.
7 But the Lord said vnto me, Say not, I am a childe: for thou shalt goe to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoeuer I command thee, shalt thou speake.
Nhưng Ðức Giê-hô-va lại phán: Chớ nói: Tôi là con trẻ; vì ngươi sẽ đi khắp nơi nào ta sai ngươi đi, và sẽ nói mọi điều ta truyền cho nói.
8 Be not afraide of their faces: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, saith the Lord.
Ðừng sợ vì cớ chúng nó; vì ta ở với ngươi đặng giải cứu ngươi, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
9 Then the Lord stretched out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said vnto me, Beholde, I haue put my wordes in thy mouth.
Ðoạn, Ðức Giê-hô-va giang tay rờ miệng tôi. Ðức Giê-hô-va lại phán cùng tôi rằng: Nầy, ta đã đặt những lời ta trong miệng ngươi.
10 Beholde, this day haue I set thee ouer the nations and ouer the kingdomes to plucke vp, and to roote out, and to destroye and throwe downe, to builde, and to plant.
Hãy xem, ngày nay ta đã lập ngươi trên các dân các nước, đặng ngươi hoặc nhổ, hoặc phá, hoặc diệt, hoặc đổ, hoặc dựng, hoặc trồng.
11 After this the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying, Ieremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almonde tree.
Lại có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng tôi rằng: Hỡi Giê-rê-mi, ngươi thấy gì? Tôi thưa rằng: Tôi thấy một gậy bằng cây hạnh.
12 Then saide the Lord vnto me, Thou hast seene aright: for I will hasten my worde to performe it.
Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn phán: Ngươi thấy phải đó; ta sẽ tỉnh thức, giữ lời phán ta đặng làm trọn.
13 Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I saide, I see a seething pot looking out of the North.
Lại có lời Ðức Giê-hô-va phán cùng tôi lần thứ hai mà rằng: Ngươi thấy gì? Tôi thưa: Tôi thấy một nồi nước sôi từ phương bắc bắn ra.
14 Then saide the Lord vnto me, Out of the North shall a plague be spred vpon all the inhabitants of the land.
Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ấy là hoạn nạn từ phương bắc sẽ giáng cho hết thảy dân cư đất nầy.
15 For loe, I will call all the families of the kingdomes of the North, saith the Lord, and they shall come, and euery one shall set his throne in the entring of the gates of Ierusalem, and on all the walles thereof rounde about, and in all the cities of Iudah.
Vậy, ta sẽ gọi mọi họ hàng của các nước phương bắc, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy, Chúng nó sẽ được, và ai nấy đặt ngôi mình nơi cửa thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, vây đánh các vách thành ấy, và các thành của Giu-đa.
16 And I will declare vnto them my iudgements touching all the wickednesse of them that haue forsaken me, and haue burnt incense vnto other gods, and worshipped the workes of their owne handes.
Ta sẽ rao sự xét đoán ta nghịch cùng chúng nó, vì điều ác chúng nó đã làm; bởi chưng chúng nó đã lìa bỏ ta, đốt hương cho các thần khác, và thờ lạy việc tay mình làm ra.
17 Thou therefore trusse vp thy loynes, and arise and speake vnto them all that I commaund thee: be not afraide of their faces, lest I destroy thee before them.
Vậy, ngươi hãy thắt lưng, chờ dậy, bảo cho chúng nó mọi sự mà ta truyền cho ngươi. Ðừng sợ sệt vì cớ chúng nó, kẻo ta làm cho ngươi sợ sệt trước mặt chúng nó chăng.
18 For I, beholde, I this day haue made thee a defenced citie, and an yron pillar and walles of brasse against the whole lande, against the Kings of Iudah, and against the princes thereof, against the Priestes thereof and against the people of the lande.
Nầy, ngày nay, ta lập ngươi lên làm thành vững bền, làm cột bằng sắt, làm tường bằng đồng, nghịch cùng cả đất nầy, nghịch cùng các vua Giu-đa, các quan trưởng nó, các thầy tế lễ, và dân trong đất.
19 For they shall fight against thee, but they shall not preuaile against thee: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, sayth the Lord.
Họ sẽ đánh nhau với ngươi, những không thắng ngươi; vì ta ở cùng ngươi đặng giải cứu ngươi, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
