Jeremiah 8
1 At that time, sayeth the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the Kings of Iudah, and the bones of their princes, and the bones of the Priests and the bones of the Prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Ierusalem out of their graues.
Naquele tempo, diz o SENHOR, tirarão os ossos dos reis de Judá, e os ossos de seus príncipes, e os ossos dos sacerdotes, e os ossos dos profetas, e os ossos dos moradores de Jerusalém, para fora de suas sepulturas;
2 And they shall spread them before the sunne and the moone, and all the host of heauen, whom they haue loued, and whome they haue serued, and whome they haue followed, and whome they haue sought, and whome they haue worshipped: they shall not be gathered nor be buried, but shall be as doung vpon the earth.
E os estenderão ao sol, à lua, e a todo o exército do céu, a quem amaram, e a quem serviram, e atrás de quem se foram, e a quem buscaram, e a quem se prostraram. Não serão recolhidos nem sepultados: serão por esterco sobre a superfície da terra.
3 And death shall bee desired rather then life of all the residue that remaineth of this wicked familie, which remaine in all the places where I haue scattered them, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
E a morte será preferida à vida por todos os restantes que restarem desta má geração, que restarem em todos os lugares onde eu os lancei, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
4 Thou shalt say vnto them also, Thus sayeth the Lord, Shall they fall and not arise? shall he turne away and not turne againe?
Dize-lhes também: Assim diz o SENHOR: Por acaso os que caem não se levantam? Os que se desviam, não voltam [ao caminho]?
5 Wherefore is this people of Ierusalem turned backe by a perpetuall rebellion? they gaue themselues to deceit, and would not returne.
Então por que este povo de Jerusalém continuam se desviando permanentemente? Eles se mantêm no engano, não querem voltar.
6 I hearkened and heard, but none spake aright: no man repented him of his wickednesse, saying, What haue I done? euery one turned to their race, as the horse rusheth into the battell.
Escutei e ouvi; não falam daquilo que é correto, ninguém há que se arrependa de sua maldade, dizendo: O que é que fiz? Cada um se virou ao seu percurso, tal como cavalo que corre com ímpeto para a batalha.
7 Euen the storke in the aire knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle and the crane and the swallowe obserue the time of their comming, but my people knoweth not the iudgement of the Lord.
Até a cegonha no céu conhece seus tempos certos, e a rolinha, o grou e a andorinha dão atenção ao tempo de sua vinda; mas meu povo não conhece o juízo do SENHOR.
8 Howe doe yee say, Wee are wise, and the Lawe of the Lord is with vs? Loe, certeinly in vaine made hee it, the penne of the scribes is in vaine.
Como, pois, dizeis: Nós somos sábios, e a lei do SENHOR está conosco? Certamente eis que a falsa pena dos escribas tem se feito em mentira.
9 The wise men are ashamed: they are afraid and taken. loe, they haue reiected the word of the Lord, and what wisdome is in them?
Os sábios serão envergonhados, espantados, e presos; eis que rejeitaram a palavra do SENHOR; que sabedoria, então, eles têm?
10 Therefore will I giue their wiues vnto others, and their fieldes to them that shall possesse them: for euery one from the least euen vnto the greatest is giuen to couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, euery one dealeth falsely.
Por isso darei suas mulheres a outros, [e] suas propriedades a quem as possuam: pois desde o menor até o maior, cada um se enche de avareza, desde o profeta até o sacerdote, todos agem com falsidade.
11 For they haue healed the hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.
E curam a ferida da filha de meu povo apenas superficialmente, dizendo: Paz, paz; sem que haja paz.
12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore shall they fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayeth the Lord.
Por acaso eles se envergonham de terem feito abominação? Não, eles não se envergonharam; eles nem sequer sabem o que é ter vergonha; por isso cairão entre os que caírem, tropeçarão no tempo em que eu os castigar, diz o SENHOR.
13 I wil surely consume them, sayth the Lord: there shalbe no grapes on the vine, nor figges on the figtree, and the leafe shall fade, and the things that I haue giuen them, shall depart from them.
Certamente eu os apanharei, diz o SENHOR. Não haverá uvas na vide, nem figos na figueira, e [até] a folha cairá; e aquilo que lhes dei passará deles.
14 Why doe we stay? assemble your selues, and let vs enter into the strong cities, and let vs be quiet there: for the Lord our God hath put vs to silence and giuen vs water with gall to drinke, because we haue sinned against the Lord.
Por que [ainda] estamos sentados? Ajuntai-vos, e entremos nas cidades fortes; e ali pereçamos: pois o SENHOR nosso Deus tem nos matado, e nos deu a beber bebida de fel, porque pecamos contra o SENHOR.
15 We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of health, and behold troubles.
Esperávamos paz, mas nada de bom houve; [esperávamos] tempo de cura, e eis aqui terror.
16 The neying of his horses was heard from Dan, the whole lande trembled at the noyse of the neying of his strong horses: for they are come, and haue deuoured the land with all that is in it, the citie, and those that dwell therein.
Desde Dã se ouve o ronco de seus cavalos; toda a terra treme pelo som do relinchar de seus fortes; e eles vêm e devoram a terra e sua abundância, a cidade e seus moradores.
17 For beholde, I will sende serpents, and cockatrices among you, which will not be charmed, and they shall sting you, sayth the Lord.
Porque eis que eu envio entre vós serpentes, [e] cobras venenosas, contra as quais não há encantamento; e elas vos morderão, diz o SENHOR.
18 I would haue comforted my selfe against sorowe, but mine heart is heauie in me.
Até meu consolo está em tristeza; meu coração desfalece em mim.
19 Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people for feare of them of a farre countrey, Is not the Lord in Zion? is not her king in her? Why haue they prouoked mee to anger with their grauen images, and with the vanities of a strange god?
Eis a voz do clamor da filha de meu povo, desde uma da terra distante: Por acaso não está o SENHOR em Sião? Não está nela o seu rei? Por que me provocaram à ira com suas imagens de escultura, com coisas estrangeiras inúteis?
20 The haruest is past, the sommer is ended, and we are not holpen.
Passou a ceifa, acabou-se o verão, e nós não fomos salvos.
21 I am sore vexed for the hurt of ye daughter of my people: I am heauie, and astonishment hath taken me.
Quebrantado estou pelo quebrantamento da filha de meu povo; estou de luto, fui tomado pelo assombro.
22 Is there no balme at Gilead? is there no Physition there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recouered.
Por acaso não há bálsamo em Gileade, ou não há ali médico? Então por que não houve cura para a filha de meu povo?
