Jeremiah 7
1 The woordes that came to Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,
LA parola, che fu dal Signore [indirizzata] a Geremia, dicendo:
2 Stand in the gate of the Lordes house and crie this woorde there, and say, Heare the woorde of the Lord, all yee of Iudah that enter in at these gates to worship the Lord.
Fermati alla porta della Casa del Signore, e quivi predica questa parola, e di': Uomini di Giuda tutti quanti, ch'entrate per queste porte, per adorare il Signore, ascoltate la parola del Signore.
3 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Amend your waies and your woorkes, and I will let you dwell in this place.
Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Ammendate le vostre vie, e le vostre opere; ed io vi farò abitare in questo luogo.
4 Trust not in lying woordes, saying, The Temple of the Lord, the Temple of the Lord: this is the Temple of the Lord.
Non vi fidate in su parole fallaci, dicendo: Questo [è] il Tempio del Signore, il Tempio del Signore, il Tempio del Signore.
5 For if you amende and redresse your waies and your woorkes: if you execute iudgement betweene a man and his neighbour,
Anzi del tutto ammendate le vostre vie, e le vostre opere. Se pur fate [diritto] giudicio fra l'uomo, ed il suo prossimo;
6 And oppresse not the stranger, the fatherlesse and the widow and shed no innocent blood in this place, neither walke after other gods to your destruction,
[e] non oppressate il forestiere, nè l'orfano, nè la vedova; e non ispandete sangue innocente in questo luogo; e non andate dietro ad altri dii, a danno vostro;
7 Then will I let you dwell in this place in the lande that I gaue vnto your fathers, for euer and euer.
io altresì farò che abiterete per ogni secolo in questo luogo, nel paese che io ho dato a' vostri padri.
8 Beholde, you trust in lying woordes, that can not profite.
Ecco, voi confidate in su parole fallaci, che non possono recare alcun giovamento.
9 Will you steale, murder, and commit adulterie, and sweare falsely and burne incense vnto Baal, and walke after other gods whome yee knowe not?
Rubando, uccidendo, commettendo adulterio, e giurando falsamente, e facendo profumi a Baal, e andando dietro ad altri dii, i quali voi non avete conosciuti;
10 And come and stande before mee in this House, whereupon my Name is called, and saye, We are deliuered, though we haue done all these abominations?
verreste voi pure ancora, e vi presentereste nel mio cospetto in questa Casa, che si chiama del mio Nome, e direste: Noi siamo stati liberati per far tutte queste cose abbominevoli?
11 Is this House become a denne of theeues, whereupon my Name is called before your eyes? Beholde, euen I see it, sayeth the Lord.
È, e vostro parere, questa Casa, che si chiama del mio Nome, divenuta una spelonca di ladroni? ecco, io altresì [l]'ho veduto, dice il Signore.
12 But go ye nowe vnto my place which was in Shilo, where I set my Name at the beginning, and beholde, what I did to it for the wickednesse of my people Israel.
Ma andate pure ora al mio luogo, che [fu] in Silo, dove io da prima stanziai il mio Nome; e riguardate quel che io gli ho fatto, per la malvagità del mio popolo Israele.
13 Therefore nowe because yee haue done all these woorkes, sayeth the Lord, (and I rose vp earely and spake vnto you: but when I spake, yee would not heare me, neither when I called, would yee answere).
Ora altresì, perciocchè voi avete fatte tutte queste cose, dice il Signore; e benchè io vi abbia parlato del continuo per ogni mattina, non però avete ascoltato; e benchè io vi abbia chiamati, non però avete risposto;
14 Therefore will I do vnto this House, wherupon my Name is called, wherein also yee trust, euen vnto the place that I gaue to you and to your fathers, as I haue done vnto Shilo.
io farò a questa Casa, che si chiama del mio Nome, nella quale voi vi confidate; ed al luogo, che io ho dato a voi, ed ai vostri padri, come [già] feci a Silo.
15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I haue cast out all your brethren, euen the whole seede of Ephraim.
E vi scaccerò dal mio cospetto, come ho scacciati i vostri fratelli, tutta la progenie di Efraim.
16 Therfore thou shalt not pray for this people, neither lift vp crie or praier for them neither intreat me, for I will not heare thee.
E tu, non pregar per questo popolo, e non prendere a gridare, o a fare orazione per loro; e non intercedere appo me; perciocchè io non ti esaudirò.
17 Seest thou not what they doe in the cities of Iudah and in the streetes of Ierusalem?
Non vedi tu quel che fanno nelle città di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme?
18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knede the dough to make cakes to the Queene of heauen and to powre out drinke offrings vnto other gods, that they may prouoke me vnto anger.
I figliuoli ricolgono le legne, e i padri accendono il fuoco, e le donne intridono la pasta, per far focacce alla regina del cielo, e per fare offerte da spandere ad altri dii, per dispettarmi.
19 Doe they prouoke me to anger, sayeth the Lord, and not themselues to the confusion of their owne faces?
Fanno essi dispetto a me? dice il Signore; anzi non [fanno essi dispetto] a loro stessi, alla confusion delle lor proprie facce?
20 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord God, Beholde, mine anger and my wrath shall be powred vpon this place, vpon man and vpon beast, and vpon the tree of the fielde, and vpon the fruite of the grounde, and it shall burne and not bee quenched.
Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, la mia ira ed il mio cruccio sarà versato sopra questo luogo, sopra gli uomini, e sopra le bestie, e sopra gli alberi della campagna, e sopra i frutti della terra; ed arderà, e non si spengerà.
21 Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Put your burnt offerings vnto your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.
Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Aggiungete pure i vostri olocausti a' vostri sacrificii, e mangiate della carne.
22 For I spake not vnto your fathers, nor commanded them, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offrings and sacrifices.
Perciocchè io non parlai a' vostri padri, nè diedi lor comandamento, quando li trassi fuor del paese di Egitto, intorno ad olocausti, ed a sacrificii.
23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voyce, and I will be your God, and yee shalbe my people: and walke yee in all the wayes which I haue commanded you, that it may be well vnto you.
Anzi comandai loro questo, cioè: Ascoltate la mia voce, ed io vi sarò Dio, e voi mi sarete popolo; e camminate in tutte le vie che io vi comando, acciocchè bene vi avvenga.
24 But they would not obey, nor incline their eare, but went after the counsels and the stubbernesse of their wicked heart, and went backewarde and not forwarde.
Ma essi non hanno ascoltato, e non hanno inchinato il loro orecchio; ma son camminati secondo i consigli, [e] la durezza del cuor loro malvagio; e [sono andati] indietro, e non innanzi.
25 Since the day that your fathers came vp out of the lande of Egypt, vnto this day, I haue euen sent vnto you al my seruants the Prophets, rising vp earely euery day, and sending them.
Dal dì che i vostri padri uscirono del paese di Egitto, infino a questo giorno, io vi ho mandati tutti i miei servitori profeti, mandandoli [ogni] giorno, fin dalla mattina;
26 Yet would they not heare me nor encline their eare, but hardened their necke and did worse then their fathers.
ma essi non mi hanno ascoltato, e non hanno inchinato il loro orecchio; anzi hanno indurato il lor collo; han fatto peggio che i padri loro.
27 Therefore shalt thou speake al these words vnto them, but they will not heare thee: thou shalt also crie vnto them, but they will not answere thee.
Pronunzia loro adunque tutte queste parole, ma essi non ti ascolteranno; grida pur loro, ma non ti risponderanno.
28 But thou shalt say vnto them, This is a nation that heareth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiueth discipline: trueth is perished, and is cleane gone out of their mouth.
E perciò tu dirai loro: Questa [è] la gente, che non ha ascoltata la voce del Signore Iddio suo, e non ha ricevuta correzione; la verità è perita, ed è venuta meno nella bocca loro.
29 Cut off thine heare, O Ierusalem, and cast it away, and take vp a complaint on the hie places: for the Lord hath reiected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
Tonditi la chioma, [o Gerusalemme], e gittala via; prendi a far lamento sopra i luoghi elevati; perciocchè il Signore ha riprovata, ed abbandonata la generazione del suo cruccio.
30 For the children of Iudah haue done euill in my sight, sayth the Lord: they haue set their abominations in the House, whereupon my Name is called, to pollute it.
Perciocchè i figliuoli di Giuda han fatto quel che mi dispiace, dice il Signore; han messe le loro abbominazioni nella Casa, la quale si chiama del mio Nome, per contaminarla.
31 And they haue built the hie place of Topheth, which is in the valley of Ben-Hinnom to burne their sonnes and their daughters in the fire, which I commanded them not, neither came it in mine heart.
Ed hanno edificati gli alti luoghi di Tofet, che [è] nella valle del figliuolo di Hinnom, per ardere al fuoco i lor figliuoli, e le lor figliuole; cosa che io non comandai [giammai]; e che non mi entrò [giammai] in cuore.
32 Therefore beholde, the dayes come, sayeth the Lord, that it shall no more be called Topheth, nor the valley of Ben-Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall burie in Topheth til there be no place.
Per tanto, ecco, i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che quella non si chiamerà più Tofet, nè valle del figliuolo di Hinnom, ma valle di uccisione; ed [i morti] si seppelliranno in Tofet, finchè non [vi resti] più luogo.
33 And ye carkeises of this people shalbe meat for the foules of the heauen and for the beastes of the earth, and none shall fraie them away.
E i corpi morti di questo popolo saranno per cibo agli uccelli del cielo, ed alle bestie della terra; e non [vi sarà] che le spaventi.
34 Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Iudah and from the streetes of Ierusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladnesse, the voice of the bridegrom and the voice of the bride: for the lande shalbe desolate.
Farò eziandio cessare nelle città di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, la voce d'allegrezza, e la voce di gioia; la voce dello sposo, e la voce della sposa: perciocchè il paese sarà in desolazione.
