Jeremiah 6
1 O ye children of Beniamin, prepare to flee out of the middes of Ierusalem, and blowe the trumpet in Tekoa: set vp a standart vpon Beth-haccerem: for a plague appeareth out of the North and great destruction.
“¡Huyan por seguridad, hijos de Benjamín, del centro de Jerusalén! Tocad la trompeta en Tecoa y levantad una señal en Bet Haccherem, porque el mal se asoma desde el norte con una gran destrucción.
2 I haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.
Voy a cortar la hermosa y delicada, la hija de Sión.
3 The pastors with their flockes shall come vnto her: they shall pitche their tentes rounde about by her, and euery one shall feede in his place.
Los pastores con sus rebaños vendrán a ella. Acamparán contra ella por todas partes. Alimentarán a cada uno en su lugar”.
4 Prepare warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp toward the South: wo vnto vs: for the day declineth, and the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.
“¡Preparen la guerra contra ella! ¡Levántate! Subamos al mediodía. ¡Ay de nosotros! Porque el día declina, porque las sombras de la tarde se extienden.
5 Arise, and let vs goe vp by night, and destroy her palaces.
¡Levántate! Subamos de noche y destruyamos sus palacios”.
6 For thus hath the Lord of hostes said, Hewe downe wood, and cast a mounte against Ierusalem: this citie must be visited: all oppression is in the middes of it.
Porque el Señor de los Ejércitos dijo: “Corta los árboles y levanta un montículo contra Jerusalén. Esta es la ciudad que hay que visitar. Está llena de opresión en su interior.
7 As the fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her malice: crueltie and spoyle is continually heard in her before me with sorowe and strokes.
Como un pozo produce sus aguas, así produce ella su maldad. Se oye en ella violencia y destrucción. La enfermedad y las heridas están continuamente ante mí.
8 Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate as a land, that none inhabiteth.
Sé instruida, Jerusalén, para que mi alma no se aleje de ti, para que no te convierta en una desolación, en una tierra deshabitada.”
9 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, They shall gather as a vine, the residue of Israel: turne backe thine hande as the grape gatherer into the baskets.
El Señor de los Ejércitos dice: “Espigarán a fondo el remanente de Israel como una vid. Vuelve tu mano como un recolector de uvas a los cestos”.
10 Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.
¿A quién debo hablar y testificar para que escuchen? He aquí que su oído está incircunciso y no saben escuchar. He aquí que la palabra de Yahvé se ha convertido en un oprobio para ellos. No se deleitan en ella.
11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord: I am weary with holding it: I will powre it out vpon the children in the streete, and likewise vpon the assembly of the yong men: for the husband shall euen be taken with the wife, and the aged with him that is full of daies.
Por eso estoy lleno de la ira de Yahvé. Estoy cansado de contenerla. “Viértelo sobre los niños en la calle, y en la reunión de los jóvenes juntos; porque incluso el marido con la mujer será tomado, los ancianos con el que está lleno de días.
12 And their houses with their landes, and wiues also shalbe turned vnto strangers: for I will stretch out mine hande vpon the inhabitants of the land, sayeth the Lord.
Sus casas serán entregadas a otros, sus campos y sus esposas juntos; porque extenderé mi mano sobre los habitantes de la tierra, dice Yahvé”.
13 For from the least of them, euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen vnto couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, they all deale falsely.
“Porque desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, todos son dados a la codicia. Desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, todos hacen tratos falsos.
14 They haue healed also ye hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.
También han curado superficialmente la herida de mi pueblo, diciendo: “¡Paz, paz!” cuando no hay paz.
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, no neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore they shall fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayth the Lord.
¿Se avergonzaron cuando cometieron la abominación? No, no se avergonzaron en absoluto, ni pudieron sonrojarse. Por lo tanto, caerán entre los que caen. Cuando los visite, serán abatidos”, dice Yahvé.
16 Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.
Dice el Señor: “Pónganse en los caminos y vean, y pregunten por las sendas antiguas: “¿Dónde está el buen camino?” Y caminen por él, y encontrarán descanso para sus almas. Pero ellos dijeron: ‘No caminaremos por él’.
17 Also I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.
Puse centinelas sobre ustedes, diciendo: “¡Escuchen el sonido de la trompeta! Pero ellos dijeron: “No escucharemos”.
18 Heare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.
Oíd, pues, naciones, y conoced, congregación, lo que hay entre ellas.
19 Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.
¡Oye, tierra! He aquí que yo traigo sobre este pueblo el mal, el fruto de sus pensamientos, porque no han escuchado mis palabras; y en cuanto a mi ley, la han rechazado.
20 To what purpose bringest thou mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me.
¿Para qué viene a mí el incienso de Sabá y la caña dulce de un país lejano? Sus holocaustos no son aceptables, y sus sacrificios no me agradan”.
21 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will laie stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vpon them: the neighbour and his friende shall perish.
Por eso dice el Señor: “He aquí que yo pongo tropiezos ante este pueblo. Los padres y los hijos juntos tropezarán con ellos. El vecino y su amigo perecerán”.
22 Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall arise from the sides of the earth.
Dice el Señor: “He aquí que un pueblo viene del país del norte. Una gran nación se levantará de los confines de la tierra.
23 With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: they are cruell and will haue no compassion: their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre against thee, O daughter Zion.
Echan mano del arco y de la lanza. Son crueles y no tienen piedad. Su voz ruge como el mar, y montan a caballo, todos dispuestos, como un hombre a la batalla, contra ti, hija de Sión.”
24 We haue heard their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in trauaile.
Hemos escuchado su informe. Nuestras manos se debilitan. La angustia se ha apoderado de nosotros, y los dolores como de mujer de parto.
25 Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.
No salgas al campo ni andes por el camino, porque la espada del enemigo y el terror están por todas partes.
26 O daughter of my people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs.
¡Hija de mi pueblo, vístete de cilicio y revuélcate en cenizas! Llora, como por un hijo único, con el más amargo lamento, porque el destructor vendrá de repente sobre nosotros.
27 I haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their waies.
“Te he hecho probador de metales y fortaleza en medio de mi pueblo, para que conozcas y pruebes su camino.
28 They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.
Todos ellos son graves rebeldes, que andan por ahí calumniando. Son de bronce y de hierro. Todos ellos hacen negocios corruptos.
29 The bellowes are burnt: the lead is consumed in the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not taken away.
El fuelle sopla ferozmente. El plomo se consume en el fuego. En vano siguen refinando, pues los malvados no son arrancados.
30 They shall call them reprobate siluer, because the Lord hath reiected them.
Los hombres los llamarán plata rechazada, porque Yahvé los ha rechazado.”
