Jeremiah 6
1 O ye children of Beniamin, prepare to flee out of the middes of Ierusalem, and blowe the trumpet in Tekoa: set vp a standart vpon Beth-haccerem: for a plague appeareth out of the North and great destruction.
Huid de en medio de Jerusalén, hijos de Benjamín; tocad la trompeta en Tecoa, y sobre Betkérem alzad una señal; pues se deja ver un azote que viene del norte; una gran calamidad.
2 I haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.
La hija de Sión es semejante a un prado lozano;
3 The pastors with their flockes shall come vnto her: they shall pitche their tentes rounde about by her, and euery one shall feede in his place.
vienen sobre ella los pastores con sus rebaños; plantan sus tiendas alrededor de ella, pastan cada cual por su parte.
4 Prepare warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp toward the South: wo vnto vs: for the day declineth, and the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.
“¡Santificaos para la guerra contra ella! Levantaos, ataquémosla en pleno mediodía. ¡Ay de nosotros, que pasa el día, se extienden ya las sombras de la noche!
5 Arise, and let vs goe vp by night, and destroy her palaces.
Levantaos, ataquemos de noche y destruyamos sus palacios.”
6 For thus hath the Lord of hostes said, Hewe downe wood, and cast a mounte against Ierusalem: this citie must be visited: all oppression is in the middes of it.
Porque así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: “Cortad árboles y alzad terraplenes contra Jerusalén. Esta es la ciudad que ha de ser castigada, toda ella está llena de injusticia.
7 As the fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her malice: crueltie and spoyle is continually heard in her before me with sorowe and strokes.
Como la fuente hace brotar sus aguas, así mana ella su maldad, no se oye en ella (hablar) sino de violencia y ruina; dolores y heridas están siempre a mi vista.
8 Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate as a land, that none inhabiteth.
Enmiéndate, Jerusalén, no sea que me aparte de ti y te convierta en ruinas, en tierra inhabitada.”
9 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, They shall gather as a vine, the residue of Israel: turne backe thine hande as the grape gatherer into the baskets.
Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos: “Como rebuscos de una viña, así se rebuscarán los restos de Israel. Mete tu mano, como el vendimiador, entre los sarmientos.”
10 Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.
¿A quién he de hablar y a quién conjurar para que oiga? He aquí que su oído está incircunciso, de modo que no pueden escuchar; ved que la palabra de Yahvé es para ellos un oprobio; no se deleitan en ella.
11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord: I am weary with holding it: I will powre it out vpon the children in the streete, and likewise vpon the assembly of the yong men: for the husband shall euen be taken with the wife, and the aged with him that is full of daies.
Estoy lleno de la cólera de Yahvé, cansado ya de refrenarla. “Derrámala sobre los niños en la calle, y sobre las reuniones de los jóvenes. Pues serán presos el marido y la mujer, el anciano y el colmado de días.
12 And their houses with their landes, and wiues also shalbe turned vnto strangers: for I will stretch out mine hande vpon the inhabitants of the land, sayeth the Lord.
Y sus casas pasarán a ser de otros, juntamente con sus campos y sus mujeres; pues Yo extenderé mi mano contra los habitantes del país” —oráculo de Yahvé.
13 For from the least of them, euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen vnto couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, they all deale falsely.
Porque todos ellos, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, se han entregado a la avaricia; todos, desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, practican el fraude;
14 They haue healed also ye hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.
curan la llaga de mi pueblo a la ligera, diciendo: “¡Paz, paz!” cuando no hay paz.
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, no neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore they shall fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayth the Lord.
Quedarán confundidos porque cometen abominaciones; pero no se avergüenzan, ni conocen lo que es deshonra. “Por eso caerán cuando caigan los otros; perecerán al tiempo que Yo los visite”, dice Yahvé.
16 Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.
Así dice Yahvé: “Paraos en los caminos, y mirad; y preguntad por las sendas antiguas, cuál es el buen camino, y seguidlo, y hallaréis reposo para vuestras almas.” Mas ellos dijeron: “No lo seguiremos.”
17 Also I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.
Yo había puesto sobre vosotros atalayas (diciendo): “Escuchad el sonido de la trompeta.” Mas ellos respondieron: “No queremos escuchar.”
18 Heare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.
Por tanto, oíd, oh naciones; gentes todas, entended lo que les sucederá.
19 Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.
¡Escucha, oh tierra! “He aquí que voy a traer sobre este pueblo calamidades, el fruto de sus mismos designios, porque no atendieron mis palabras, y despreciaron mi Ley.
20 To what purpose bringest thou mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me.
¿Para qué me traéis incienso de Sabá, y caña aromática de países lejanos? vuestros holocaustos no me son aceptos, y vuestros sacrificios no me agradan.”
21 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will laie stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vpon them: the neighbour and his friende shall perish.
Por eso, así dice Yahvé: “He aquí que voy a poner tropiezos a este pueblo, en ellos tropezarán padres e hijos a una, el vecino perecerá juntamente con su vecino.”
22 Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall arise from the sides of the earth.
Así dice Yahvé: “Mira que viene un pueblo del país del Septentrión, una nación grande se pone en movimiento desde los extremos de la tierra;
23 With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: they are cruell and will haue no compassion: their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre against thee, O daughter Zion.
empuña el arco y el venablo, es cruel y no se apiada; su voz es como el bramido del mar. Vienen montados sobre caballos, listos para luchar como un solo hombre, contra ti, oh hija de Sión.”
24 We haue heard their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in trauaile.
“Al solo oír hablar de ellos se nos debilitan los brazos, se apodera de nosotros la angustia, dolores como de mujer que está de parto.”
25 Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.
No salgáis al campo, ni andéis por el camino; pues el enemigo tiene espada, y por todos lados reina el espanto.
26 O daughter of my people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs.
Cíñete de saco, oh hija de mi pueblo, y revuélcate en la ceniza; haz llanto como por un hijo único, llanto amarguísimo, porque de repente cae sobre nosotros el devastador.
27 I haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their waies.
Te he constituido en mi pueblo como probador, como fortaleza; tú conocerás y examinarás su proceder.
28 They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.
Todos ellos son rebeldes entre rebeldes, andan calumniando, son bronce y hierro, corruptores, todos ellos.
29 The bellowes are burnt: the lead is consumed in the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not taken away.
Sopla furiosamente el fuelle para que el plomo sea consumido por el fuego; pero en vano trabaja el acrisolador, porque los inicuos no se separan.
30 They shall call them reprobate siluer, because the Lord hath reiected them.
Se les llamará plata reprobada; porque Yahvé los ha reprobado.
