Jeremiah 6
1 O ye children of Beniamin, prepare to flee out of the middes of Ierusalem, and blowe the trumpet in Tekoa: set vp a standart vpon Beth-haccerem: for a plague appeareth out of the North and great destruction.
Fuggite di forza, figliuoli di Beniamino, del mezzo di Gerusalemme; e sonate la tromba in Tecoa, ed alzate il segnale del fuoco sopra Bet-cherem; perciocchè una calamità, e gran ruina, è apparita dal Setentrione.
2 I haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.
Io avea fatta la figliuola di Sion simile ad una donna bella e delicata.
3 The pastors with their flockes shall come vnto her: they shall pitche their tentes rounde about by her, and euery one shall feede in his place.
Dei pastori verranno contro a lei con le lor mandre; tenderanno d'ogn'intorno contro a lei i [lor] padiglioni; ciascuno pasturerà dal lato suo.
4 Prepare warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp toward the South: wo vnto vs: for the day declineth, and the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.
Preparate la battaglia contro a lei, levatevi, e saliamo in pien mezzodì. Guai a noi! perciocchè il giorno è dichinato, e le ombre del vespro si sono allungate.
5 Arise, and let vs goe vp by night, and destroy her palaces.
Levatevi, e saliamo di notte, e guastiamo i suoi palazzi.
6 For thus hath the Lord of hostes said, Hewe downe wood, and cast a mounte against Ierusalem: this citie must be visited: all oppression is in the middes of it.
Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Tagliate degli alberi, e fate degli argini contro a Gerusalemme; questa [è] la città, [che] ha da essere visitata; ella non [è] altro che oppressione dentro di sè.
7 As the fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her malice: crueltie and spoyle is continually heard in her before me with sorowe and strokes.
Come la fonte del pozzo sgorga le sue acque, così quella sgorga la sua malvagità; violenza e guasto si sentono in lei; [vi è] del continuo davanti alla mia faccia doglia e percossa.
8 Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate as a land, that none inhabiteth.
Correggiti, o Gerusalemme, che talora l'animo mio non si divella da te; che talora io non ti riduca in deserto, in terra disabitata.
9 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, They shall gather as a vine, the residue of Israel: turne backe thine hande as the grape gatherer into the baskets.
Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Il rimanente d'Israele sarà del tutto racimolato, come una vigna; rimetti, a guisa di vendemmiatore, la mano a' canestri.
10 Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.
A chi parlerò, a chi protesterò, che ascolti? ecco, l'orecchio loro [è] incirconciso, e non possono attendere; ecco, la parola del Signore è loro in vituperio; non si dilettano in essa.
11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord: I am weary with holding it: I will powre it out vpon the children in the streete, and likewise vpon the assembly of the yong men: for the husband shall euen be taken with the wife, and the aged with him that is full of daies.
Per tanto io son pieno dell'ira del Signore, io stento a ritener[la]; io [la] spanderò sopra i piccoli fanciulli per le piazze, e parimente sopra le raunanze de' giovani; perciocchè anche tutti, uomini e donne, vecchi e decrepiti, saranno presi.
12 And their houses with their landes, and wiues also shalbe turned vnto strangers: for I will stretch out mine hande vpon the inhabitants of the land, sayeth the Lord.
E le lor case saran trasportate a stranieri, ed insieme i campi, e le mogli; perciocchè io stenderò la mia mano sopra gli abitanti del paese, dice il Signore.
13 For from the least of them, euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen vnto couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, they all deale falsely.
Conciossiachè essi tutti, dal maggiore al minore, sieno dati all'avarizia; tutti, e profeti, e sacerdoti, commettono falsità.
14 They haue healed also ye hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.
Ed han curata alla leggiera la rottura della figliuola del mio popolo, dicendo: Pace, pace; benchè non [vi sia] alcuna pace.
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, no neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore they shall fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayth the Lord.
Si son eglino vergognati, perchè hanno fatta una cosa abbominevole? non hanno avuta vergogna alcuna, nè si sono saputi vergognare; perciò, caderanno fra i morti, nel giorno che io li visiterò, [e] traboccheranno, ha detto il Signore.
16 Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.
Il Signore avea detto così: Fermatevi in su le vie, e riguardate; e domandate de' sentieri antichi, [per saper] quale [è] la buona strada, e camminate per essa; e voi troverete riposo all'anima vostra. Ma essi han detto: Noi non [vi] cammineremo.
17 Also I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.
Oltre a ciò, io avea costituite sopra voi delle guardie, [che dicessero: ] Attendete al suon della tromba. Ma essi hanno detto: Noi non [vi] attenderemo.
18 Heare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.
Perciò, o genti, ascoltate; e [tu], o raunanza, conosci ciò che [è] in loro.
19 Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.
Ascolta, o terra. Ecco, io fo venire un male sopra questo popolo, il frutto de' lor pensieri; perciocchè non hanno atteso alle mie parole, ed hanno rigettata la mia Legge.
20 To what purpose bringest thou mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me.
A che [offerir]mi l'incenso che vien di Seba, e la buona canna odorosa [che viene] di lontan paese? i vostri olocausti non [mi sono] a grado, e i vostri sacrificii non mi son piacevoli.
21 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will laie stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vpon them: the neighbour and his friende shall perish.
Per tanto, così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io metterò a questo popolo degl'intoppi, ne' quali s'intopperanno, padri e figliuoli insieme; vicini ed amici periranno.
22 Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall arise from the sides of the earth.
Così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, un popolo viene dal paese di Settentrione, ed una gran gente si muove dal fondo della terra.
23 With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: they are cruell and will haue no compassion: their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre against thee, O daughter Zion.
Impugneranno l'arco e lo scudo; essi [sono una gente] crudele, e non avranno pietà alcuna; la lor voce romoreggerà come il mare, e cavalcheranno sopra cavalli; [ciascun di loro] sarà in ordine, come un uomo prode, per combattere contro a te, o figliuola di Sion.
24 We haue heard their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in trauaile.
Come prima ne avremo sentito il grido, le nostre mani diverranno fiacch; distretta ci coglierà, [e] doglia, come di donna che partorisce.
25 Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.
Non uscite a' campi, e non andate per li cammini; perciocchè la spada del nemico, e lo spavento [è] d'ogn'intorno.
26 O daughter of my people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs.
Figliuola del mio popolo, cingiti d'un sacco, e voltolati nella cenere; fa' cordoglio, [come] per un figliuolo unico, ed un lamento amarissimo; perciocchè il guastatore verrà di subito sopra noi.
27 I haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their waies.
Io ti ho posto per riparo, e fortezza, nel mio popolo; e tu conoscerai, e proverai la lor via.
28 They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.
Essi tutti [son] ribelli ritrosissimi, vanno sparlando; [son] rame e ferro; tutti son corrotti.
29 The bellowes are burnt: the lead is consumed in the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not taken away.
Il mantice è arso, il piombo è consumato dal fuoco; indarno pur sono stati posti al cimento; i mali però non [ne] sono stati separati.
30 They shall call them reprobate siluer, because the Lord hath reiected them.
Saranno chiamati: Argento riprovato; perciocchè il Signore li ha riprovati.
