Jeremiah 51
1 Thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, I wil raise vp against Babel, and against the inhabitants that lift vp their heart against me, a destroying wind,
El Señor ha dicho: Mira, haré subir un viento de destrucción contra Babilonia y contra los que viven en Caldea;
2 And wil send vnto Babel fanners that shall fanne her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shalbe against her on euery side.
Y enviaré hombres a Babilonia para limpiarla y limpiar su tierra; porque en el día de la angustia pondrán sus tiendas contra ella por todos lados.
3 Also to the bender that bendeth his bowe, and to him that lifteth himselfe vp in his brigandine, will I say, Spare not her yong men, but destroy all her hoste.
Contra ella, el arco del arquero está doblado, y él se pone su coraza; no tengan piedad de sus jóvenes, entrega todo su ejército a la destrucción.
4 Thus the slaine shall fall in the lande of the Caldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streetes.
Y los muertos serán tendidos en la tierra de los caldeos, y los heridos en sus calles.
5 For Israel hath bene no widowe, nor Iudah from his God, from the Lord of hostes, though their lande was filled with sinne against the holy one of Israel.
Porque Israel no ha sido abandonado, ni Judá, por su Dios, por el Señor de los ejércitos; aunque su tierra está llena de pecado contra el Santo de Israel.
6 Flee out of the middes of Babel, and deliuer euery man his soule: be not destroyed in her iniquitie: for this is the time of the Lordes vengeance he will render vnto her a recompence.
Vete de Babilonia en fuga, para que todo hombre pueda conservar su vida; no mueran por causa de su maldad, porque es el tiempo del castigo del Señor; Él le dará su recompensa.
7 Babel hath bene as a golden cuppe in the Lordes hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations haue drunken of her wine, therefore do the nations rage.
Babilonia ha sido una copa de oro en la mano del Señor, que ha embriagado a toda la tierra con vino; las naciones han tomado de su vino, y por esta razón las naciones han perdido el sentido.
8 Babel is suddenly fallen, and destroyed: howle for her, bring balme for her sore, if she may be healed.
Es repentina la caída de Babilonia y su destrucción; clama de dolor por ella; traigan bálsamo para su dolor, es posible que se cure.
9 We would haue cured Babel, but she could not be healed: forsake her, and let vs go euery one into his owne countrey: for her iudgement is come vp vnto heauen, and is lifted vp to ye cloudes.
Hemos curado a Babilonia, pero ella no se curó: déjala, y vámonos de aquí, todos a su país; porque su castigo se extiende hasta el cielo y se eleva hasta los cielos.
10 The Lord hath brought forth our righteousnesse: come and let vs declare in Zion the worke of the Lord our God.
El Señor ha dejado clara nuestra justicia; ven, y démosle cuenta en Sión de la obra del Señor nuestro Dios.
11 Make bright the arrowes: gather the shieldes: the Lord hath raised vp the spirit of the King of the Medes: for his purpose is against Babel to destroy it, because it is the vengeance of the Lord, and the vengeance of his Temple.
Haz brillar las flechas; pónganse las corazas; el Señor ha estado moviendo el espíritu del rey de los medos; porque su plan contra Babilonia es su destrucción; porque es el castigo del Señor, la venganza por su Templo.
12 Set vp the standart vpon the walles of Babel, make the watch strong: set vp the watchmen: prepare the skoutes: for the Lord hath both deuised, and done that which he spake against the inhabitantes of Babel.
Dejen que la bandera se levante contra las paredes de Babilonia, refuercen la guardia, ponga a los vigilantes en su lugar, prepare un ataque sorpresa; porque es el propósito del Señor, y él ha hecho lo que dijo sobre el pueblo de babilonia.
13 O thou that dwellest vpon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine ende is come, euen the ende of thy couetousnes.
Oh, tú, cuyo lugar de vida está junto a las amplias aguas, cuyas riquezas son grandes, tu fin ha llegado, tu malvada codicia ha terminado.
14 The Lord of hostes hath sworne by him selfe, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers, and they shall cry and shoute against thee.
El Señor de los ejércitos ha hecho un juramento por sí mismo, diciendo: En verdad, te llenaré de hombres como de langostas, y sus voces de victoria contra ti.
15 He hath made the earth by his power, and established the world by his wisedome, and hath stretched out the heauen by his discretion.
Él ha hecho la tierra por su poder, ha establecido al mundo en su lugar por su sabiduría, y por su sabio diseño los cielos se han extendido:
16 Hee giueth by his voyce the multitude of waters in the heauen, and he causeth the cloudes to ascend from the endes of the earth: he turneth lightnings to raine, and bringeth forth the winde out of his treasures.
Al sonido de su voz hay un tumulto de las aguas en los cielos, y él hace que las nieblas suban desde los confines de la tierra; hace relámpagos para la lluvia y envía el viento desde sus depósitos.
17 Euery man is a beast by his owne knowledge: euery founder is confounded by the grauen image: for his melting is but falsehood, and there is no breath therein.
Entonces cada hombre se vuelve como una bestia sin conocimiento; Todos los trabajadores del oro son avergonzados por la imagen que han creado; porque su imagen de metal es un engaño, y no hay aliento en ellos.
18 They are vanitie, and the worke of errours: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
No son nada, una obra de error; en el momento de su castigo, la destrucción los alcanzará.
19 The portion of Iaakob is not like them: for he is the maker of all things, and Israel is the rodde of his inheritance: the Lord of hostes is his Name.
La herencia de Jacob no es así; porque el creador de todas las cosas escogió a Israel como su propiedad; el Señor de los ejércitos es su nombre.
20 Thou art mine hammer, and weapons of warre: for with thee will I breake the nations, and with thee wil I destroy kingdomes,
Tú eres mi hacha de combate y mi instrumento de guerra; contigo serán quebrantadas las naciones; contigo destruiré reinos;
21 And by thee wil I breake horse and horseman, and by thee will I breake the charet and him that rideth therein.
Contigo, el caballo y el jinete serán quebrantados; contigo el carruaje de la guerra y el que entra será destrozado;
22 By thee also will I breake man and woman, and by thee wil I breake olde and yong, and by thee wil I breake the yong man and the mayde.
Contigo, hombre y mujer serán quebrantados; contigo el viejo y el niño serán quebrantados; contigo el joven y la virgen serán quebrantados;
23 I wil also breake by thee the shepheard and his flocke, and by thee will I breake the husband man and his yoke of oxen, and by thee will I breake the dukes and princes.
Contigo será quebrantado el guardián de las ovejas con su rebaño, y contigo el granjero y sus bueyes serán quebrantados, y contigo serán quebrantados los capitanes y los gobernantes.
24 And I will render vnto Babel, and to all the inhabitants of the Caldeans all their euil, that they haue done in Zion, euen in your sight, sayth the Lord.
Y daré a Babilonia, y a toda la gente de Caldea, su recompensa por todo el mal que han hecho en Sión ante sus ojos, dice el Señor.
25 Beholde, I come vnto thee, O destroying mountaine, sayth the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand vpon thee, and rolle thee downe from the rockes, and wil make thee a burnt mountaine.
Mira, yo estoy contra ti, dice el Señor, oh montaña de destrucción, que causa la destrucción de toda la tierra; y extenderé mi mano sobre ti, derribándote de las rocas y quemándote montaña.
26 They shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations, but thou shalt be destroyed for euer, sayth the Lord.
Y no te quitarán una piedra para el ángulo de una pared o la base de un edificio; Pero serás un lugar inútil para siempre, dice el Señor.
27 Set vp a standard in the lande: blowe the trumpets among the nations: prepare the nations against her: call vp the kingdomes of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz against her: appoynt the prince against her: cause horses to come vp as the rough caterpillers.
Que se levante una bandera en la tierra, que suene el cuerno entre las naciones, que las naciones estén listas contra ella; reúne los reinos de Ararat, Mini y Asquenaz contra ella, prepara un escriba contra ella; Deja que los caballos se enfrenten a ella como langostas en masa.
28 Prepare against her the nations with the Kings of the Medes, the dukes thereof, and the princes thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Prepara a las naciones para la guerra contra ella, el rey de los medos y sus gobernantes y todos sus capitanes, y toda la tierra bajo su gobierno.
29 And the land shall tremble and sorow: for the deuise of the Lord shalbe performed against Babel, to make the lande of Babel waste without an inhabitant.
Y la tierra está temblando y con dolor; porque los propósitos del Señor son fijos, para hacer de la tierra de Babilonia una desolación sin habitantes.
30 The strong men of Babel haue ceased to fight: they haue remayned in their holdes: their strength hath fayled, and they were like women: they haue burnt her dwelling places, and her barres are broken.
Los hombres de guerra de Babilonia se han alejado de la lucha, esperando en sus fortalezas; Su fuerza se ha agitado, se han vuelto como mujeres; sus casas han sido incendiadas, sus cerraduras están rotas.
31 A post shall runne to meete the post, and a messenger to meete the messenger, to shew the King of Babel, that his citie is taken on a side thereof,
Un hombre, corriendo, le dará un mensaje a otro, y el que vaya con noticias se lo entregará a otro, para avisar al rey de Babilonia que su ciudad ha sido tomada por completo.
32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reedes burnt with fire, and the me of war troubled.
Y los caminos a través del río han sido tomados, y los carrizos han sido quemados con fuego, y los hombres de guerra se llenaron de miedo.
33 For thus sayth the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, the daughter of Babel is like a threshing floore: the time of her threshing is come: yet a litle while, and the time of her haruest shall come.
Porque estas son las palabras del Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: La hija de Babilonia es como el piso de grano cuando es trillada; En poco tiempo, llegará el momento de su corte de grano.
34 Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel hath deuoured me, and destroyed me: he hath made me an emptie vessel: he swallowed mee vp like a dragon, and filled his belly with my delicates, and hath cast me out.
Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, me ha devorado, me aplastó violentamente, me dejó como un vaso vacío sin nada, me tomó en la boca como un dragón, llenó su estómago con mis delicias, y me ha expulsado.
35 The spoyle of me, and that which was left of me, is brought vnto Babel, shall the inhabitant of Zion say: and my blood vnto the inhabitantes of Caldea, shall Ierusalem say.
Que las cosas violentas que me han hecho, y mi caída, vengan a Babilonia, dirá la hija de Sión; y “Que mi sangre sobre la gente de Caldea”, dirá Jerusalén.
36 Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, I will maintayne thy cause, and take vengeance for thee, and I will drie vp the sea, and drie vp her springes.
Por esta razón, el Señor ha dicho: Mira, defenderé tu causa y vengaré lo que has sufrido; secaré el mar, y secare sus manantiales.
37 And Babel shall be as heapes, a dwelling place for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.
Y Babilonia se convertirá en una masa de muros rotos, un agujero para los chacales, una causa de espanto y horror, sin un hombre vivo en ella.
38 They shall rore together like lions, and yell as the lyons whelpes.
Estarán rugiendo juntos como leones, y gruñiran como cachorros.
39 In their heate I will make them feastes, and I wil make them drunken, that they may reioyce, and sleepe a perpetual sleepe, and not wake, sayth the Lord.
En su calor les pondré sus banquetes, haré una fiesta para ellos, y los emborracharé con vino, para que puedan quedar inconscientes, durmiendo un sueño eterno sin despertar, dice el Señor.
40 I wil bring them downe like lambes to the slaughter, and like rams and goates.
Los haré bajar a la muerte como corderos, como chivos y carneros.
41 How is Sheshach taken! and howe is the glory of the whole earth taken! how is Babel become an astonishment among the nations!
¡Cómo ha sido tomada Babilonia! la alabada de toda la tierra! ¿Cómo se ha convertido Babilonia en causa de espanto entre las naciones?
42 The sea is come vp vpon Babel: he is couered with the multitude of the waues thereof.
Ha subido el mar sobre Babilonia; Ella está cubierta con la masa de sus olas.
43 Her cities are desolate: the land is dry and a wildernes, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth the sonne of man passe thereby.
Sus pueblos se han convertido en un desperdicio, una tierra seca y sin agua, donde ningún hombre tiene su lugar de vida y ningún hijo de hombre pasa.
44 I wil also visite Bel in Babel, and I wil bring out of his mouth, that which he hath swallowed vp, and the nations shall runne no more vnto him, and the wall of Babel shall fall.
Y enviaré un castigo a Bel en Babilonia, y sacaré de su boca lo que ha devorado; las naciones ya no correrán hacia él: en verdad, el muro de Babilonia se caerá.
45 My people, go out of the middes of her, and deliuer yee euery man his soule from the fierce wrath of the Lord,
Pueblo mío, sal de ella, y que cada uno salga a salvo de la ira ardiente del Señor.
46 Least your heart euen faynt, and ye feare the rumour, that shalbe heard in the land: the rumour shall come this yeere, and after that in the other yeere shall come a rumour, and crueltie in the land, and ruler against ruler.
Para que tus corazones no se vuelvan débiles y llenos de temor a causa de las noticias que sucederán en la tierra; para una historia durará aproximadamente un año, y después de eso, en otro año, otra historia y actos violentos en la tierra, gobernante contra gobernante.
47 Therefore beholde, the dayes come, that I will visite the images of Babel, and the whole land shalbe confounded, and all her slayne shall fall in the middes of her.
Por esta causa, en verdad, vendrán días cuando enviaré el castigo a las imágenes de Babilonia, y toda su tierra será avergonzada, y sus muertos caerán en ella.
48 Then the heauen and the earth, and all that is therein, shall reioyce for Babel: for the destroyers shall come vnto her from the North, saith the Lord.
Y el cielo y la tierra y todo lo que hay en ellos, cantarán de alegría sobre Babilonia; porque los destructores vendrán del norte, dice el Señor.
49 As Babel caused the slaine of Israel to fal, so by Babel the slaine of all the earth did fall.
Así como Babilonia mando a los muertos de Israel a la espada, así por Babilonia cayeron los muertos de toda la tierra.
50 Ye that haue escaped the sworde, goe away, stand not still: remember the Lord a farre of, and let Ierusalem come into your minde.
Ustedes que se han salvado de la espada, huyan y no se detengan; tengan al Señor en la memoria cuando esté lejos, y tengan presente a Jerusalén.
51 Wee are confounded because wee haue heard reproch: shame hath couered our faces, for straungers are come into the Sanctuaries of the Lordes House.
Estamos decepcionados porque han llegado a nuestros oídos palabras amargas; nuestros rostros están cubiertos de vergüenza, porque hombres extranjeros han venido a los lugares sagrados de la casa del Señor.
52 Wherefore behold, the dayes come, sayth the Lord, that I will visite her grauen images, and through all her land the wounded shall grone.
Por esta razón, mira, vienen días, dice el Señor, cuando enviaré un castigo a sus imágenes; y en toda su tierra los heridos estarán gritando de dolor.
53 Though Babel should mount vp to heauen, and though shee should defend her strength on hye, yet from mee shall her destroyers come, sayth the Lord.
Aun si Babilonia fuera elevada al cielo, y fortifique en lo alto su fortaleza, enviaría contra ella a aquellos que la destruirán, dice el Señor.
54 A sound of a cry commeth from Babel, and great destruction from the land of the Caldeans,
Se oye un grito de Babilonia, y una gran destrucción de la tierra de los caldeos:
55 Because the Lord hath layde Babel waste and destroyed from her the great voyce, and her waues shall roare like great waters, and a sounde was made by their noyse:
Porque el Señor está destruyendo Babilonia y poniendo fin a la gran voz que sale de ella; y sus olas retumban como grandes aguas, su voz suena fuerte:
56 Because the destroyer is come vpon her, euen vpon Babel, and her strong men are taken, their bowes are broken: for the Lord God that recompenceth, shall surely recompence.
Porque el destructor ha venido a ella, incluso a Babilonia, y sus hombres de guerra son tomados, sus arcos están rotos: porque el Señor es un Dios que recompensa, y ciertamente dará su pago.
57 And I will make drunke her princes, and her wise men, her dukes, and her nobles, and her strong men: and they shall sleepe a perpetuall sleepe, and not wake, sayth the King, whose Name is the Lord of hostes.
Y haré que sus jefes y sus hombres sabios, sus gobernantes y sus capitanes y sus hombres de guerra, vencidos por vino; su sueño será un sueño eterno sin despertar, dice el Rey; El señor de los ejércitos es su nombre.
58 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, The thicke wall of Babel shalbe broken, and her hie gates shall be burnt with fire, and the people shall labour in vaine, and the folke in ye fire, for they shalbe weary.
El Señor de los ejércitos ha dicho: los anchos muros de Babilonia estarán completamente derribados y sus altas puertas serán quemadas con fuego; así que los pueblos continúan trabajando para nada, y el cansancio de las naciones termina en el humo.
59 The worde which Ieremiah the Prophet commanded Sheraiah the sonne of Neriiah, the sonne of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the King of Iudah into Babel, in the fourth yeere of his reigne: and this Sheraiah was a peaceable prince.
El orden que el profeta Jeremías dio a Seraías, el hijo de Nerías, el hijo de Maasias, cuando iba con Sedequías, rey de Judá, a Babilonia en el cuarto año de su gobierno. Ahora Seraías era el controlador principal de la casa.
60 So Ieremiah wrote in a booke all the euill that should come vpon Babel: euen al these things, that are written against Babel.
Y Jeremías puso en un libro todo el mal que vendría sobre Babilonia.
61 And Ieremiah sayd to Sheraiah, Whe thou commest vnto Babel, and shalt see, and shalt reade all these wordes,
Y Jeremías dijo a Seraías: Cuando vengas a Babilonia, asegúrate de darles todas estas palabras;
62 Then shalt thou say, O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, to destroy it, that none should remaine in it, neither man nor beast, but that it should be desolate for euer.
Y después de leerlos, di: Señor, has dicho acerca de este lugar que has destruirlo, para que nadie viva en él, ni un hombre ni una bestia, desolación eterna será.
63 And when thou hast made an ende of reading this booke, thou shalt binde a stone to it, and cast it in the middes of Euphrates,
Y será que, cuando hayas terminado de leer este libro, debes tener una piedra atarle una piedra, y dejarla caer en el río Eufrates:
64 And shalt say, Thus shall Babel be drowned, and shall not rise from the euil, that I will bring vpon her: and they shall be weary. Thus farre are the wordes of Ieremiah.
Y tienes que decir: Entonces Babilonia descenderá, y nunca más volverá a ser levantada, por el mal que yo le enviaré; y el cansancio los vencerá. Hasta ahora, estas son las palabras de Jeremías.
