Jeremiah 49
1 Unto the children of Ammon thus saith the Lord, Hath Israel no sonnes? or hath he none heire? Why then hath their king possessed God? and his people dwelt in his cities?
Um Ammons-sønerne. So segjer Herren: Eig Israel ingi søner, eller hev han ingen erving? Kvi hev Malkam ervt Gad og hans folk sett seg ned i byarne hans?
2 Therefore beholde the dayes come, sayeth the Lord, that I will cause a noyse of warre to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites, and it shall be a desolate heape, and her daughters shall be burnt with fire: then shall Israel possesse those that possessed him, sayeth the Lord.
Difor, sjå, dei dagar skal koma, segjer Herren, då eg let herrop høyrast til Rabba hjå Ammons-sønerne, og det skal verta til aude steinrøysar, og døtterne skal verta brende upp med eld, og då skal Israel erva sine ervingar, segjer Herren.
3 Howle, O Heshbon, for Ai is wasted: crie ye daughters of Rabbah: girde you with sackecloth: mourne and runne to and from by the hedges: for their King shall goe into captiuitie; and his Priestes, and his princes likewise.
Øya deg, Hesbon! For Aj er i øyde lagt; ropa, de Rabba-døtter! Sveip dykk i sekk, barma dykk, og renn att og fram millom kvierne! for Malkam lyt fara i utlægd, prestarne hans og hovdingarne i lag med kvarandre.
4 Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleis? thy valley floweth away, O rebellious daughter: she trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come vnto me?
Kvi gildar du deg av dalarne, av din grøderike dal, du fråfalne dotter, som lit på skattarne dine og segjer: «Kven kann nå meg?»
5 Beholde, I will bring a feare vpon thee, sayth the Lord God of hostes, of all those that be about thee, and ye shalbe scattered euery man right foorth, and none shall gather him that fleeth.
Sjå, eg let fælske nå deg, segjer Herren, Herren, allhers drott, frå alle stader rundt ikring deg. Og de skal verta drivne burt, kvar til sin kant, og ingen skal samla i hop deim som flyr.
6 And afterward I will bring againe the captiuitie of the children of Ammon.
Men sidan vil eg gjera ende på utlægdi åt Ammons-sønerne, segjer Herren.
7 To Edom thus sayeth the Lord of hostes: Is wisdome no more in Teman? is counsel perished from their children? is their wisdome vanished?
Um Edom. So segjer Herren, allhers drott: Bid det ikkje visdom lenger i Teman? Tryt det på råder for dei vituge? Er visdomen deira spillt?
8 Flee, ye inhabitants of Dedan (they are turned backe, and haue consulted to dwell) for I haue brought the destruction of Esau vpon him, and the time of his visitation.
Fly, snu dykk, gøym dykk djupt nede, de som bur i Dedan! For Esaus ulukka let eg koma yver honom den tid eg heimsøkjer honom.
9 If the grape gatherers come to thee, would they not leaue some grapes? if theeues come by night, they will destroy till they haue ynough.
Um druvehentarar kjem yver deg, so leiver dei ikkje noko til attpåhenting. Um tjuvar kjem med natti, vil dei tyna til dei hev fengje sitt nøgje.
10 For I haue discouered Esau: I haue vncouered his secrets, and he shall not be able to hide himselfe: his seede is wasted, and his brethren and his neighbours, and there shall be none to say,
For eg vil sjølv draga hamen av Esau, eg legg gøymslorne hans i berrsyni, so han ikkje kann løyna seg. Avkjømet hans og brørne hans og grannarne hans vert tynte, og det er ute med honom.
11 Leaue thy fathers children, and I will preserue them aliue, and let thy widowes trust in me.
Bry deg ikkje um dine faderlause! eg vil halda liv i deim, og enkjorne dine kann lita på meg.
12 For thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, they whose iudgement was not to drinke of the cuppe, haue assuredly drunken, and art thou he that shall escape free? thou shalt not goe free, but thou shalt surely drinke of it.
For so segjer Herren: Sjå, dei som med rette ikkje skulde ha drukke or staupet, dei lyt drikka, og so skulde du sleppa urefst! Du skal ikkje sleppa urefst, men drikka skal du.
13 For I haue sworne by my selfe, sayeth the Lord, that Bozrah shall be waste, and for a reproche, and a desolation, and a curse, and all the cities thereof shall be perpetuall desolations.
For eg hev svore ved meg sjølv, segjer Herren, at Bosra skal verta til ei fælska, til ei hæding, til ei audn og til ei våbøn, og alle byarne som høyrer til, skal æveleg liggja i røysar.
14 I haue heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassadour is sent vnto the heathen, saying, Gather you together, and come against her, and rise vp to the battell.
Ei tidend hev eg høyrt frå Herren, og ein bodberar er send millom folkeslagi: «Sanka dykk og far imot honom, bu dykk til bardage!»
15 For loe, I will make thee but small among the heathen, and despised among men.
For sjå, eg gjer deg liten millom folki, svivyrd millom menner.
16 Thy feare, and ye pride of thine heart hath deceiued thee, thou that dwellest in the cleftes of the rocke, and keepest the height of ye hil: though thou shouldest make thy nest as hie as the eagle, I wil bring thee downe from thece, sayth the Lord.
Rædsla kome yver deg! Ditt hjartans ovmod hev dåra deg, du som bur i bergklypor, som klengjer deg fast til fjelltinden. Um du bygde reiret ditt so høgt som ørnen, so skulde eg støypa deg ned derifrå, segjer Herren.
17 Also Edom shall be desolate: euery one that goeth by it, shall be astonished, and shall hisse at all the plagues thereof,
Og Edom skal verta til ei skræma; alle som fer der framum, skal ræddast og spotta yver alle plågorne hans.
18 As in the ouerthrowe of Sodom, and of Gomorah, and the places thereof neere about, saieth the Lord: no man shall dwell there, neither shall the sonnes of men remaine in it.
Liksom då Sodoma og Gomorra med grannebyar vart lagde i øyde, segjer Herren, so skal ingen mann bu der, og ikkje noko mannsbarn halda til der.
19 Beholde, hee shall come vp like a lyon from the swelling of Iorden vnto the strong dwelling place: for I will make Israel to rest, euen I will make him to haste away from her, and who is a chosen man that I may appoynt against her? for who is like mee? and who will appoint me the time? and who is the shepheard that will stande before me?
Sjå, det kjem ein upp stigande, som løva ut or tjukkskogen attmed Jordan, og inn på den sigrøne eng; for i ein augneblink vil eg jaga det burt derifrå, og den som er utvald, vil eg setja yver det. For kven er min like, og kven vil stemna meg? Og kven er den hyrdingen som stend seg for meg?
20 Therefore heare the counsell of the Lord that hee hath deuised against Edom, and his purpose that hee hath conceiued against the inhabitants of Teman: surely the least of the flocke shall drawe them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
Difor, høyr den rådgjerdi Herren hev teke um Edom, og dei tankarne han hev tenkt um Teman-buarne: Sanneleg, dei skal dragsa deim burt, dei små lambi, sanneleg, hagelendet deira skal taka fæla av deim.
21 The earth is mooued at the noyse of their fall: the crie of their voice is heard in the red Sea.
Av dynen av deira fall bivrar jordi, naudropet - omen av det høyrer ein radt til Raudehavet.
22 Behold, he shall come vp, and flie as the Egle, and spreade his wings ouer Bozrah, and at that day shall the heart of the strong men of Edome be as the heart of a woman in trauaile.
Sjå, ein lik ein ørn stig upp og flyg fram og breider ut vengjerne sine yver Bosra. Og hjarta til Edom-kjemporne vert den dagen som hjarta til kvinna i barnsnaud.
23 Vnto Damascus he sayeth, Hamath is confounded and Arpad, for they haue heard euill tidings, and they are faint hearted as one on the fearefull sea that can not rest.
Um Damaskus. Hamat og Arpad er skjemde, for dei hev spurt ei låk tidend, dei er reint vitskræmde; i havet er uro, det kann ikkje vera stilt.
24 Damascus is discouraged, and turneth her selfe to flight and feare hath seased her: anguish and sorowes haue taken her as a woman in trauaile.
Damaskus er hugfalle, det snur seg og flyr, otte hev gripe det; angest og rider hev gripe det liksom kvinna med fødeflagor.
25 How is the glorious citie not reserued, the citie of my ioy?
Kvi fekk han ikkje vera, byen den namnfræge, fagnad-byen min?
26 Therefore her yong men shall fall in her streetes, and all her men of warre shall be cut off in that day, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
Difor skal hans sveinar falla på gatorne hans og alle hermennerne verta tynte den dagen, segjer Herren, allhers drott.
27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, which shall cosume the palaces of Benhadad.
Og eg vil kveikja eld i Damaskus-murarne, og han skal øyda Benhadad-slotti.
28 Vnto Kedar, and to the kingdomes of Hazor, which Nebuchad-nezzar, king of Babel shall smite, thus sayeth the Lord, Arise, and goe vp vnto Kedar, and destroy the men of the East.
Um Kedar og Hasor-riki, som Nebukadressar, Babel-kongen, vann. So segjer Herren: Statt upp, far mot Kedar og tyn Austheims-sønerne!
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: yea, they shall take to themselues their curtaines and all their vessels, and their camels, and they shall crie vnto them, Feare is on euery side.
Tjeldi deira og sauerne deira skal dei taka, tjelddukarne deira og all bunaden deira og kamelarne deira skal dei føra burt med seg, og dei skal ropa til dei: «Rædsla rundt ikring!»
30 Flee, get you farre off (they haue consulted to dwell) O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord: for Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel hath taken counsell against you, and hath deuised a purpose against you.
«Fly, røm undan mest de vinn, gøym dykk djupt nede, de Hasor-buar, segjer Herren; for Nebukadressar, Babel-kongen, hev teke ei rådgjerd mot dykk og tenkt ut løynråd imot dykk.
31 Arise, and get you vp vnto the welthy nation that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which haue neither gates nor barres, but dwel alone.
Statt upp, far upp imot eit fredleg folk som bur trygt, segjer Herren; portar og bommar vantar dei, for seg sjølve bur dei.
32 And their camels shall be a bootie, and the multitude of their cattel a spoile, and I will scatter them into all windes, and to the vtmost corners, and I will bring their destruction from al the sides thereof, sayeth the Lord.
Og kamelarne deira skal verta til ran, og dei store bølingarne deira til herfang; og eg vil spreida deim for alle vindar, mennerne med rundklypt hår; og frå alle leider let eg ulukka koma yver deim, segjer Herren.
33 And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and desolation for euer: there shall no man dwell there, nor the sonnes of men remaine in it.
Og Hasor skal verta til sjakal-bøle, ei audn um alder og æva; ingen mann skal bu der, og inkje mannsbarn skal halda til der.»
34 The woordes of the Lord that came to Ieremiah the Prophet, concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reigne of Zedekiah King of Iudah, saying,
Herrens ord som kom til profeten Jeremia um Elam i den fyrste tidi Sidkia, Juda-kongen, styrde; han sagde:
35 Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will breake the bowe of Elam, euen the chiefe of their strength.
So segjer Herren, allhers drott: Sjå, eg bryt sund for Elam hans boge, den likaste magti deira.
36 And vpon Elam I will bring the foure windes from the foure quarters of heauen, and will scatter them towardes all these windes, and there shall bee no nation, whither the fugitiues of Elam shall not come.
Og eg sender mot Elam fire vindar frå dei fire himmelætterne og spreider deim for alle desse vindarne. Og det skal ikkje finnast det folket som ikkje burtdrivne frå Elam skal koma til.
37 For I will cause Elam to be afraied before their enemies, and before them that seeke their liues, and will bring vpon them a plague, euen the indignation of my wrath, saieth the Lord, and I wil sende the sworde after them till I haue consumed them.
Og eg vil gjera Elam forfærd for uvenerne sine og for deim som ligg deim etter livet, og eg vil lata ulukka koma yver deim, min brennande harm, segjer Herren, og eg vil senda sverd etter deim, til eg fær gjort ende på deim.
38 And I wil set my throne in Elam, and I wil destroy both the King and the princes from thence, saith the Lord:
Og eg vil setja kongsstolen min i Elam, og eg vil tyna der både konge og hovdingar, segjer Herren.
39 but in the latter daies I wil bring againe the captiuitie of Elam, sayeth the Lord.
Men når tider er lidne, vil eg gjera ende på Elams utlægd, segjer Herren.
