Jeremiah 47

1 The wordes of the Lord that came to Ieremiah the Prophet, against the Philistims, before that Pharaoh smote Azzah.

इसके पूर्व कि फ़रोह अज्जाह को पराजित करता, भविष्यद्वक्ता येरेमियाह को फिलिस्तीनियों से संबंधित यह संदेश प्राप्‍त हुआ:

2 Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, waters rise vp out of the North, and shalbe as a swelling flood, and shall ouerflowe the land, and all that is therein, and the cities with them that dwell therein: then the men shall crie, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howle,

यह याहवेह का संदेश है: “यह देखना कि उत्तर से जल स्तर ऊंचा होने लगेगा; और यह बढ़कर प्रचंड प्रवाह में परिवर्तित हो जाएगा. यह संपूर्ण भूमि को आच्छादित कर लेगा वह सब भी जो भूमि के ऊपर है, नगर को तथा नगरवासियों को भी. पुरुष चिल्लायेंगे; तथा देश का हर एक निवासी विलाप करेगा.

3 At the noise and stamping of ye hoofes of his strong horses, at the noise of his charets, and at the rumbling of his wheeles: ye fathers shall not looke backe to their children, for feeblenes of handes,

घोड़ों की टापों की ध्वनि के कारण, उसके रथों की आवाज सुनकर, उनके पहियों की गड़गड़ाहट के कारण. पिता मुड़कर अपने बालकों को देखेंगे; क्योंकि उनके हाथ ढीले हो चुके हैं.

4 Because of the day that commeth to destroy all the Philistims, and to destroy Tyrus, and Zidon, and all the rest that take their part: for the Lord will destroy the Philistims, the remnant of the yle of Caphtor.

यह इसलिये कि सारे फिलिस्तीनियों के विनाश का तथा सोर और सीदोन में हर एक शेष रह गए सहायक को नष्ट करने का दिन आया है. स्वयं याहवेह ही फिलिस्तीनियों तथा काफ़तोर के तटवर्ती क्षेत्रों के बचे हुए लोगों को नष्ट करने के लिए तैयार हैं.

5 Baldenes is come vpon Azzah: Ashkelon is cut vp with the rest of their valleys. Howe long wilt thou thy selfe?

अज्जाह को सिर मुंडाना पड़ा है; अश्कलोन नष्ट किया जा चुका है. उनकी घाटी के बचे हुए लोगो, तुम कब तक अपनी देह को घायल करते रहोगे?

6 O thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be or thou cease! turne againe into thy scaberd, rest and be still.

“‘आह, याहवेह की तलवार, और कब तक प्रतीक्षा की जाए तुम्हारे शांत होने की? अब तो अपनी म्यान में जा बैठो; विश्राम करो और चुपचाप रहो.’

7 Howe can it cease, seeing the Lord hath giuen it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea banke? euen there hath he appointed it.

यह शांत रह भी कैसे सकती है जब इसे आदेश ही याहवेह ने दिया है, उसे अश्कलोन तथा समुद्रतट के क्षेत्रों के विरुद्ध ही नियत किया गया है?”
