Jeremiah 41
1 But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
Lakini ilitokea kwamba katika mwezi wa saba Ishmael mwana wa Nethania mwana wa Elishama, toka familia ya kifalme, na maafisa baadhi wa mfalme, walikuja - wanaume kumi walikuwa pamoja naye - kwa Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam, huko Mizpa. Walikula chakula pamoja hukp Mizpa.
2 Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
Lakini Ishmael mwana wa Nethania, na wanaume kumi ambao walikuwa pamoja naye waliinuka na kumvamia Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam mwana wa Shafan, kwa upanga. Ishmael alimuua Gedalia, ambaye mfalme wa Babeli alimweka kuwa msimamizi wa nchi.
3 Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
Kisha Ishmael aliwauwa Wayahudi wote ambao walikuwa pamoja na Gedalia huko Mizpa na Wakaldayo wanaume wa kupigana kukutwa huko.
4 Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
Kisha ilikuwa siku ya pili baada ya kumuua Gedila, lakini hakuna moja aliyejua.
5 There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
Wanaume baadhi walikuja toka Shechem, toka Shiloh, na toka Samaria-wanaume semanini ambayo walikuwa wamenyoa ndevu zao, walirarua nguo zao, na kujikata wenyewe- pamoja na chakula cha sadaka na ubani katika mikono yao kwenda kwa nyumba ya Yahwe.
6 And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
Basi Ishmael mwana wa Nethania alienda toka Mizpa kukutana nao kama walivyoenda, wakitembea na kulia. Kisha ilitokea kwamba kama alivyokutana nao, alisema nao, “Njoo kwa Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam!”
7 And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
Ilikuja kuwa kwamba wakati walipokuja katika mji, Ishmaeil mwana wa Nethania aliwauwa na kuwatupa kwenye shimo, yeye na wanaume ambao walikuwa pamoja naye.
8 But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
Lakini palikuwa na wanaume kumi miongoni mwao ambao walisema kwa Ishmael, “Usituue, kwa kuwa kuna riziki zetu kwenye shamba: ngano na shayiri, mafuta na asili” Kwa hiyo hakuwauwa pamoja na rafiki zao wengine.
9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
Kisima ambacho Ishmael alitupa miili yote ya waliokufa ambaye yeye na Gedalia waliwapiga, kilikuwa ni kilekile ambacho mfalme Asa alichimba wakati alipokuwa akivamiwa na mfalme Baasha wa Israel. Ishmael mwana wa Nethania alilijaza wale ambao walikuwa wameuawa.
10 Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
Badae Ishmael aliwashika watu wengine wote ambao walikuwa huko Mizpa, mabinti wa mfalme na watu wote ambao walikuwa wameachwa huko Mizpa ambayo Nebuzaradani mlinzi mkuu alikuwa amewakabidhi kwa Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam. Basi Ishmael mwana wa Nethania aliwashika na kuvuka kwa watu wa Ammon.
11 But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
Lakini Yonathani mwana wa Karea na amri wote wa jeshi pamoja naye walisikia madhara yote ambayo Ishmael mwana wa Nethania alikuwa amefanya.
12 Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
Basi waliwachukua wanaume wao na kwenda kupigana dhidi ya Ishmanel mwana wa Nethania. Walipigana naye huko kwenye kisima kuu cha Gibeoni.
13 Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
Kisha ilitokea kwamba wakati watu wote ambao walikuwa na Ishmael kuona Yonathani mwana wa Karea na amri wote wa jeshi ambao walikuwa pamoja naye, walikuwa na furaha.
14 So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
Basi watu wote ambao Ishmael alikuwa amewashika huko Mizpa waligeuka na kwenda kwa Yonathani mwana wa Karea.
15 But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
Lakini Ishmael mwana wa Nethania alitoroka na wanaume wanane toka kwa Yonathani. Alienda kwa watu wa Ammon.
16 Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
Yonathani mwana wa Karea na amri jeshi pamoja naye walichukua toka Mizpa watu wote ambao walikuwa wameokolewa kutoka kwa Ishmael mwana wa Nethania. Hii ilikuwa baada ya Ishmael kuwa amemuuwa Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam. Yonathan na rafiki zake walichukua wanaume shujaa, wanaume wapiganaji, wanawake na watoto, na mtoashi ambaye alikuwa ameokolewa huko Gibeoni.
17 And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
Kisha walienda na kubaki kwa muda huko Geruthi Chimham, ambayo iko karibu Bethelemu. Walikuwa wakienda Misri
18 Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.
kwa sababu ya Wakaldayo. Walikuwa wakiwaogopa kwani Ishmael mwana wa Nethania alikuwa amemua Gedalia mwana wa Ahikam, ambaye mfamle wa Babeli amewekwa kwenye usimamizi wa nchi.
