Jeremiah 41
1 But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
Aconteció en el séptimo mes que Ismael, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente del rey, que tenía diez hombres, vino con él a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, y allí en Mizpa mientras comían juntos.
2 Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
Entonces Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, y los diez hombres que estaban con él, se levantaron y atacaron a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, con la espada, y lo mataron a quien al rey de Babilonia había hecho gobernante sobre la tierra.
3 Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
E Ismael mató a todos los judíos que estaban con él, incluso con Gedalías, en Mizpa, y a los hombres de guerra caldeos.
4 Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
Ahora, el segundo día después de dar muerte a Gedalías, cuando nadie tuvo conocimiento de ello,
5 There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
Algunas personas vinieron de Siquem, de Silo y Samaria, ochenta hombres, con la cara rasurada y la ropa rasgada, y con cortes en el cuerpo, y en las manos, ofrendas de cereales e incienso que Estaban llevando al templo del Señor.
6 And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
E Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, salió de Mizpa con el propósito de encontrarse con ellos, llorando en su camino; y cuando se encontró cara a cara con ellos, dijo: Venid a Gedalías, el hijo de Ahicam.
7 And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
Y cuando entraron en el pueblo, Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, y los hombres que estaban con él, los mataron y pusieron sus cuerpos en una cisterna.
8 But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
Pero entre ellos había diez hombres que dijeron a Ismael: No nos maten, porque tenemos almacenes secretos, en el campo, de grano, aceite y miel. Así que no los mató con sus compatriotas.
9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
Ahora, la cisterna en el que Ismael había puesto los cadáveres de los hombres a quienes había matado, era la gran cisterna que Asa el rey había hecho por temor a Baasa, rey de Israel e Ismael, el hijo de Netanias, lo llenó de los cuerpos de aquellos que habían sido ejecutados.
10 Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
Entonces Ismael se llevó prisioneros a todas las demás personas que estaban en Mizpa, a las hijas del rey y a todas las personas que aún estaban en Mizpa, a quienes Nabuzaradán, el capitán de la guardia real, había puesto bajo el cuidado de Gedalias él hijo de Ahías; Ismael el hijo de Netanías, se los llevó a los prisioneros con el propósito de ir a los hijos de Amón.
11 But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
Pero cuando Johanán, el hijo de Carea, y todos los capitanes de las fuerzas armadas que estaban con él, tuvieron noticias de todo el mal que Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, había cometido.
12 Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
Tomaron a sus hombres y salieron para hacer la guerra a Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, y se encontraron cara a cara con él en las grandes aguas de Gabaón.
13 Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
Cuando todas las personas que estaban con Ismael vieron a Johanan, el hijo de Carea, y todos los capitanes de las fuerzas con él, se alegraron.
14 So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
Y todas las personas a quienes Ismael había llevado prisioneros de Mizpa, dándose la vuelta, regresaron y fueron a Johanan, el hijo de Carea.
15 But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
Pero Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, se escapó de Johanán con ocho hombres y se dirigió a los hijos de Amón.
16 Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
Entonces Johanán, el hijo de Carea, y todos los capitanes de las fuerzas que estaban con él, tomaron a todas las demás personas a las que Ismael, el hijo de Netanias, había hecho prisioneros, después de haber dado muerte a Gedalías el hijo de Ahías, la gente de Mizpa, es decir, los hombres de guerra y las mujeres y los niños y los siervos eunucos, a quienes había llevado con él desde Gabaón.
17 And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
E iban y vivían en el lugar de descanso de Gerut Quimam, que está cerca de Belén en el camino a Egipto.
18 Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.
Para escapar de los caldeos, porque temían a ellos porque Ismael, el hijo de Netanías, había matado a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, a quien el rey de Babilonia había nombrado gobernador sobre la tierra.
