Jeremiah 41
1 But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
Y aconteció en el mes séptimo que vino Ismael, hijo de Natanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente real, y algunos príncipes del rey, y diez hombres con él, a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, en Maspat, y comieron allí pan juntos en Maspat.
2 Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
Y levantóse Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y los diez hombres que estaban con él, e hirieron a cuchillo a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, al cual había puesto el rey de Babilonia sobre la tierra, y le mató.
3 Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
Asimismo, hirió Ismael a todos los Judíos que estaban con él, con Godolías, en Maspat, y a los soldados Caldeos que se hallaron allí.
4 Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
Y fue que un día después que mató a Godolías, y no lo supo hombre,
5 There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
Vinieron hombres de Siquem, y de Silo, y de Samaria, ochenta hombres, raída la barba, y rotas las ropas, y arañados; y traían en sus manos presente y perfume para llevar en la casa de Jehová.
6 And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
Y salióles al encuentro de Maspat Ismael, hijo de Natanías, yendo andando y llorando; y aconteció que como los encontró, les dijo: Veníd a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam,
7 And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
Y fue que cuando vinieron en medio de la ciudad, Ismael, hijo de Natanías, los degolló, y los echó en medio de un algibe, él y los varones que estaban con él.
8 But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
Y fueron hallados diez hombres entre ellos que dijeron a Ismael: No nos mates, porque tenemos en el campo tesoros de trigos, y cebadas, y aceite, y miel; y los dejó, y no los mató entre sus hermanos.
9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
Y el algibe en que echó Ismael todos los cuerpos de los varones que hirió por causa de Godolías, era el mismo que había hecho el rey Asa por causa de Baasa, rey de Israel: este hinchió de muertos Ismael, hijo de Natanías.
10 Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
Y llevó cautivo Ismael a todo el resto del pueblo que estaba en Maspat, las hijas del rey, y a todo el pueblo que había quedado en Maspat, que Nabuzardán, capitán de la guarda, había encargado a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, y llevólos cautivos Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y fuése para pasarse a los hijos de Ammón.
11 But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
Y oyó Johanán, hijo de Carée, y todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que estaban con él, todo el mal que hizo Ismael, hijo de Natanías.
12 Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
Y tomaron todos los varones, y fueron para pelear con Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y halláronle junto a aguas muchas que es en Gabaón.
13 Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
Y aconteció que como todo el pueblo que estaba con Ismael oyó a Johanán, hijo de Carée, y a todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que venían con él, se alegraron.
14 So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
Y todo el pueblo que Ismael había traído cautivo de Maspat, tornáronse, y volvieron, y fuéronse a Johanán, hijo de Carée.
15 But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
Mas Ismael, hijo de Natanías, se escapó delante de Johanán con ocho varones, y fuése a los hijos de Ammón.
16 Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
Y Johanán, hijo de Carée, y todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que con él estaban, tomaron todo el resto del pueblo que habían tornado de Ismael, hijo de Natanías, de Maspat, después que hirió a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, hombres de guerra, y mujeres, y niños, y los eunucos que él había tornado de Gabaón.
17 And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
Y fueron, y habitaron, en Gerut-quimjam, que es cerca de Belén, para partirse, y meterse en Egipto,
18 Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.
Por causa de los Caldeos; porque temían a causa de ellos, por haber herido Ismael, hijo de Natanías, a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, al cual el rey de Babilonia había puesto sobre la tierra.
