Jeremiah 41
1 But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
Men i den syvende måned kom Ismael, sønn av Netanja, Elisamas sønn, en mann av kongelig byrd, en av kongens stormenn, og ti menn med ham til Gedalja, Akikams sønn, i Mispa, og de holdt måltid sammen der i Mispa.
2 Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
Da stod Ismael, Netanjas sønn, op, og de ti menn som var med ham, og de slo Gedalja, sønn av Akikam, Safans sønn, ihjel med sverd, og han drepte ham som Babels konge hadde satt til å styre landet.
3 Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
Også alle de jøder som var hos Gedalja i Mispa, og de kaldeere som fantes der, krigsmennene, slo Ismael ihjel.
4 Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
Den annen dag efterat han hadde drept Gedalja, og før ennu nogen visste det,
5 There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
kom det menn fra Sikem, fra Silo og Samaria, åtti menn med avraket skjegg og sønderrevne klær og med flenger i kjøttet, og de hadde med sig matoffer og virak for å bære det til Herrens hus.
6 And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
Og Ismael, Netanjas sønn, gikk dem i møte fra Mispa, og han gikk og gråt; og da han traff dem, sa han til dem: Kom med til Gedalja, Akikams sønn!
7 And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
Og da de kom inn i byen, drepte Ismael, Netanjas sønn, dem og kastet dem ned i brønnen, han og de menn som var med ham.
8 But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
Men blandt dem var det ti menn som sa til Ismael: Drep oss ikke! For vi har skjulte forråd ute på marken, hvete og bygg og olje og honning. Da lot han dem være og drepte dem ikke sammen med deres brødre.
9 Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
Og brønnen hvor Ismael kastet likene av alle de døde menn som han hadde slått ihjel foruten Gedalja, var den samme som kong Asa hadde gjort for Israels konge Baesas skyld; den fylte Ismael, Netanjas sønn, med drepte menn.
10 Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
Og Ismael bortførte som fanger hele resten av folket i Mispa, kongens døtre og alt folket som var blitt tilbake i Mispa, og som høvdingen over livvakten Nebusaradan hadde overgitt til Gedaljas, Akikams sønns opsyn; dem bortførte Ismael, Netanjas sønn, som fanger, og han gikk avsted for å dra over til Ammons barn.
11 But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
Men da Johanan, Kareahs sønn, og alle hærførerne som var med ham, hørte om alt det onde som Ismael, Netanjas sønn, hadde gjort,
12 Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
da tok de alle sine menn og gikk avsted for å stride mot Ismael, Netanjas sønn, og de fant ham ved det store vann i Gibeon.
13 Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
Og da alt folket som var med Ismael, så Johanan, Kareahs sønn, og alle hærførerne som var med ham, blev de glade.
14 So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
Og alt folket som Ismael hadde bortført som fanger fra Mispa, vendte om og gikk tilbake til Johanan, Kareahs sønn.
15 But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
Men Ismael, Netanjas sønn, slapp unda fra Johanan med åtte menn, og han drog bort til Ammons barn.
16 Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
Da tok Johanan, Kareahs sønn, og alle hærførerne som var med ham, hele resten av folket, dem fra Mispa som han hadde vunnet tilbake fra Ismael, Netanjas sønn, efterat Ismael hadde slått Gedalja, Akikams sønn, ihjel, både krigsmenn og kvinner og små barn og hoffmenn, som han hadde ført tilbake fra Gibeon.
17 And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
Og de drog avsted og stanset i Kimhams herberge ved Betlehem for å dra videre og komme til Egypten
18 Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.
for kaldeernes skyld; for de var redde for dem, fordi Ismael, Netanjas sønn, hadde drept Gedalja, Akikams sønn, som Babels konge hadde satt til å styre landet.
