Jeremiah 39
1 In the ninth yeere of Zedekiah King of Iudah in the tenth moneth, came Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel and all his hoste against Ierusalem, and they besieged it.
Et lorsque Jérusalem fut prise, (la neuvième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda, le dixième mois, Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, avec toute son armée, vint devant Jérusalem, et l'assiégea;
2 And in the eleuenth yeere of Zedekiah in the fourth moneth, the ninth day of the moneth, the citie was broken vp.
la onzième année de Sédécias, le quatrième mois, le neuvième jour du mois, la ville fut forcée; )
3 And all the princes of the King of Babel came in, and sate in the middle gate, euen Neregal, Sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rab-saris, Neregal, Sharezer, Rab-mag with all the residue of the princes of the King of Babel.
alors vinrent tous les généraux du roi de Babel, et ils se placèrent à la Porte du milieu; c'étaient Nergal-Scharétser, Samgar-Nébo, Sareskim, chef des eunuques, Nergal-Scharétser, chef des mages, et tous les autres chefs du roi de Babel.
4 And when Zedekiah the King of Iudah saw them, and all the men of warre, then they fled, and went out of the citie by night, through the Kings garden, and by the gate betweene the two walles, and he went toward the wildernes.
Et lorsque Sédécias, roi de Juda, et tous les gens de guerre les virent, ils s'enfuirent, et sortirent nuitamment de la ville par le chemin des jardins du roi, et passant la porte entre les deux murailles, ils sortirent du côté de la plaine.
5 But the Caldeans hoste pursued after them, and ouertooke Zedekiah in the desart of Iericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him to Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel vnto Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gaue iudgement vpon him.
Alors l'armée des Chaldéens se mit à leur poursuite, et ils atteignirent Sédécias dans les campagnes de Jéricho, et ils le prirent, et le menèrent à Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, à Ribla dans le pays de Hamath, lequel prononça son jugement sur lui.
6 Then the King of Babel slewe the sonnes of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the King of Babel slewe all the nobles of Iudah.
Et le roi de Babel égorgea les fils de Sédécias à Ribla sous ses yeux; et le roi de Babel égorgea aussi tous les nobles de Juda,
7 Moreouer he put out Zedekiahs eyes, and bound him in chaines, to cary him to Babel.
et il creva les yeux à Sédécias, et le lia de chaînes pour le mener à Babel.
8 And the Caldeans burnt the Kings house, and the houses of the people with fire, and brake downe the walles of Ierusalem.
Et les Chaldéens brûlèrent par le feu la maison du roi et les maisons du peuple, et abattirent les murs de Jérusalem.
9 Then Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde caried away captiue into Babel the remnant of the people, that remained in the citie, and those that were fled and fallen vnto him, with the rest of the people that remained.
Et le reste du peuple demeuré dans la ville, et les transfuges qui avaient passé à lui, le reste du peuple, Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, les déporta à Babel;
10 But Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward left the poore that had nothing in the land of Iudah, and gaue them vineyards and fieldes at the same time.
mais Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, laissa dans le pays de Juda les petits d'entre le peuple qui ne possédaient rien, et il leur donna des vignes et des champs dans ce temps-là.
11 Nowe Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel gaue charge concerning Ieremiah vnto Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde, saying,
Et Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, donna ses ordres quant à Jérémie par Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, et dit:
12 Take him, and looke well to him, and doe him no harme, but doe vnto him euen as he shall say vnto thee.
Prends-le, et aie soin de lui, et ne lui fais aucun mal, et traite-le, ainsi qu'il te le dira.
13 So Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Neregal, Sharezar, Rab-mag, and all the King of Babels princes:
Alors Nébuzaradan, chef des satellites, et Nébuschasban, chef des eunuques, et Nergal-Scharétser, chef des mages, et tous les chefs du roi de Babel,
14 Euen they sent, and tooke Ieremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan, that he should cary him home: so he dwelt among the people.
envoyèrent chercher Jérémie du vestibule de la prison, et le remirent à Gédalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan, pour le conduire dans sa maison. Et ainsi il demeura au milieu du peuple.
15 Now the worde of the Lord came vnto Ieremiah, while he was shut vp in the court of the prison, saying,
Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie, pendant qu'il était détenu dans le vestibule de la prison, en ces mots:
16 Go and speake to Ebed-melech the blacke More, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil bring my wordes vpon this citie for euill, and not for good, and they shalbe accomplished in that day before thee.
Va, et parle à Ebedmélech, l'Éthiopien, et lui dis: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Vois, je vais faire arriver ce que j'ai prononcé sur cette ville, du mal et non du bien, et tu seras témoin de ces événements en ce temps-là.
17 But I wil deliuer thee in that day, saith the Lord, and thou shalt not be giuen into the hand of the men whome thou fearest.
Mais je te délivrerai en ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel, et tu ne seras point livré aux mains des hommes que tu redoutes,
18 For I will surely deliuer thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sworde, but thy life shall be for a praye vnto thee, because thou hast put thy trust in me, sayth the Lord.
car je veux te sauver, et tu ne tomberas point sous le glaive, tu auras ta vie pour ton butin, parce que tu as eu confiance en moi, dit l'Éternel.
