Jeremiah 36
1 And in the fourth yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, came this word vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,
Και εν τω τετάρτω έτει του Ιωακείμ, υιού του Ιωσίου βασιλέως του Ιούδα, έγεινεν ο λόγος ούτος προς τον Ιερεμίαν παρά Κυρίου, λέγων,
2 Take thee a roule or booke, and write therein all the wordes that I haue spoken to thee against Israel, and against Iudah, and against all the nations, from the day that I spake vnto thee, euen from the dayes of Iosiah vnto this day.
Λάβε εις σεαυτόν τόμον βιβλίου και γράψον εν αυτώ πάντας τους λόγους, τους οποίους ελάλησα προς σε κατά του Ισραήλ και κατά του Ιούδα και κατά πάντων των εθνών αφ' ης ημέρας ελάλησα προς σε, από των ημερών του Ιωσίου έως της ημέρας ταύτης·
3 It may bee that the House of Iudah will heare of all the euill, which I determined to doe vnto them that they may returne euery man from his euil way, that I may forgiue their iniquitie and their sinnes.
ίσως ακούση ο οίκος Ιούδα πάντα τα κακά, τα οποία εγώ βουλεύομαι να κάμω εις αυτούς, ώστε να επιστρέψωσιν έκαστος από της οδού αυτού της πονηράς και να συγχωρήσω την ανομίαν αυτών και την αμαρτίαν αυτών.
4 Then Ieremiah called Baruch the sonne of Neriah, and Baruch wrote at the mouth of Ieremiah all the wordes of the Lord, which hee had spoken vnto him, vpon a roule or booke.
Και εκάλεσεν ο Ιερεμίας τον Βαρούχ τον υιόν του Νηρίου, και ο Βαρούχ έγραψεν εκ στόματος του Ιερεμίου πάντας τους λόγους του Κυρίου, τους οποίους ελάλησε προς αυτόν, επί τόμου βιβλίου.
5 And Ieremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut vp, and can not go into the House of the Lord.
Και προσέταξεν ο Ιερεμίας τον Βαρούχ, λέγων, Εγώ είμαι υπό φύλαξιν· δεν δύναμαι να εισέλθω εις τον οίκον του Κυρίου·
6 Therefore goe thou, and reade the roule wherein thou hast written at my mouth the words of the Lord in the audience of the people in the Lordes House vpon the fasting day: also thou shalt reade them in the hearing of all Iudah, that come out of their cities.
διά τούτο είσελθε συ και ανάγνωσον εν τω τόμω, τον οποίον έγραψας εκ στόματός μου τους λόγους του Κυρίου, εις τα ώτα του λαού εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου εν ημέρα νηστείας· και θέλεις προσέτι αναγνώσει αυτούς εις τα ώτα παντός του Ιούδα, όσοι έρχονται εκ των πόλεων αυτών·
7 It may be that they will pray before the Lord, and euery one returne from his euill way, for great is the anger and the wrath, that the Lord hath declared against this people.
ίσως η δέησις αυτών φθάση ενώπιον του Κυρίου και επιστρέψωσιν έκαστος από της οδού αυτού της πονηράς· διότι μέγας είναι ο θυμός και η οργή, την οποίαν ο Κύριος ελάλησε κατά του λαού τούτου.
8 So Baruch the sonne of Neriah did according vnto all, that Ieremiah the Prophet commanded him, reading in the booke the wordes of the Lord in the Lords House.
Και έκαμεν ο Βαρούχ ο υιός του Νηρίου κατά πάντα όσα προσέταξεν εις αυτόν Ιερεμίας ο προφήτης, αναγνώσας εν τω βιβλίω τους λόγους του Κυρίου εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου.
9 And in the fift yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, in the ninth moneth, they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Ierusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Iudah vnto Ierusalem.
Και εν τω πέμπτω έτει του Ιωακείμ, υιού του Ιωσίου βασιλέως του Ιούδα, εν τω εννάτω μηνί, εκήρυξαν νηστείαν ενώπιον του Κυρίου πας ο λαός εν Ιερουσαλήμ και πας ο λαός ο ερχόμενος εκ των πόλεων Ιούδα εις Ιερουσαλήμ.
10 Then read Baruch in the booke the wordes of Ieremiah in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the sonne of Shaphan the secretarie, in the hier court at the entrie of the new gate of the Lordes house, in the hearing of all the people.
Και ανέγνωσεν ο Βαρούχ εν τω βιβλίω τους λόγους του Ιερεμίου εν τω οίκω του Κυρίου, εν τω δωματίω του Γεμαρίου, υιού του Σαφάν, του γραμματέως, εν τη αυλή τη άνω, εν τη εισόδω της νέας πύλης του οίκου του Κυρίου, εις τα ώτα παντός του λαού.
11 When Michaiah the sonne of Gemariah, the sonne of Shaphan had heard out of the booke all the wordes of the Lord,
Και ήκουσε Μιχαΐας ο υιός του Γεμαρίου, υιού του Σαφάν, εκ του βιβλίου πάντας τους λόγους του Κυρίου,
12 Then hee went downe to the Kings house into the Chancellours chamber, and loe, all the princes sate there, euen Elishama the Chancellour, and Delaiah the sonne of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and Gemariah the sonne of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the sonne of Hananiah, and all the princes.
και κατέβη προς τον οίκον του βασιλέως, εις το δωμάτιον του γραμματέως· και ιδού, πάντες οι άρχοντες εκάθηντο εκεί, Ελισαμά ο γραμματεύς και Δελαΐας ο υιός του Σεμαΐου και Ελναθάν ο υιός του Αχβώρ και Γεμαρίας ο υιός του Σαφάν και Σεδεκίας ο υιός του Ανανίου και πάντες οι άρχοντες.
13 Then Michaiah declared vnto them all the wordes that he had heard when Baruch read in the booke in the audience of the people.
Και ανήγγειλε προς αυτούς ο Μιχαΐας πάντας τους λόγους τους οποίους ήκουσεν, ότε ο Βαρούχ ανεγίνωσκε το βιβλίον εις τα ώτα του λαού.
14 Therefore all the princes sent Iehudi the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Shelemiah, the sonne of Chushi, vnto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hande the roule, wherein thou hast read in the audience of the people, and come. So Baruch the sonne of Neriah, tooke the roule in his hand, and came vnto them.
Και απέστειλαν πάντες οι άρχοντες προς τον Βαρούχ Ιουδεί τον υιόν του Νεθανίου, υιού του Σελεμίου, υιού του Χουσεί, λέγοντες, Τον τόμον, τον οποίον ανέγνωσας εις τα ώτα του λαού, λάβε αυτόν εις την χείρα σου και ελθέ. Και έλαβεν ο Βαρούχ ο υιός του Νηρίου τον τόμον εις την χείρα αυτού και ήλθε προς αυτούς.
15 And they saide vnto him, Sit downe now, and reade it, that we may heare. So Baruch read it in their audience.
Και είπον προς αυτόν, Κάθησον τώρα και ανάγνωσον τώρα εις τα ώτα ημών· και ανέγνωσεν ο Βαρούχ εις τα ώτα αυτών.
16 Now when they had heard all the wordes, they were afraid both one and other, and said vnto Baruch, We will certifie the King of all these wordes.
Και ως ήκουσαν πάντας τους λόγους, εξεπλάγησαν προς αλλήλους και είπον προς τον Βαρούχ, Θέλομεν βεβαίως αναγγείλει προς τον βασιλέα πάντας τους λόγους τούτους.
17 And they examined Baruch, saying, Tell vs nowe, howe diddest thou write all these wordes at his mouth?
Και ηρώτησαν τον Βαρούχ, λέγοντες, Ειπέ προς ημάς τώρα, πως έγραψας πάντας τους λόγους τούτους εκ του στόματος αυτού;
18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these wordes vnto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ynke in the booke.
Και είπε προς αυτούς ο Βαρούχ, Από του στόματος αυτού προέφερε προς εμέ πάντας τους λόγους τούτους, και εγώ έγραφον με μελάνην εν τω βιβλίω.
19 Then saide the princes vnto Baruch, Goe, hide thee, thou and Ieremiah, and let no man knowe where ye be.
Και είπον οι άρχοντες προς τον Βαρούχ, Ύπαγε, κρύφθητι, συ και ο Ιερεμίας· και άνθρωπος ας μη εξεύρη που είσθε.
20 And they went in to the King to the court, but they layde vp the roule in the chamber of Elishama the Chancellour and tolde the King all the wordes, that he might heare.
Και εισήλθον προς τον βασιλέα εις την αυλήν· αφήκαν όμως τον τόμον εν τω δωματίω Ελισαμά του γραμματέως και ανήγγειλαν εις τα ώτα του βασιλέως πάντας τους λόγους.
21 So the King sent Iehudi to fet the roule, and he tooke it out of Elishama the Chancellours chamber, and Iehudi read it in the audience of the King, and in the audience of all the princes, which stoode beside the King.
Και απέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς τον Ιουδεί να λάβη τον τόμον· και έλαβεν εκ του δωματίου Ελισαμά του γραμματέως. Και ανέγνωσεν αυτόν ο Ιουδεί εις τα ώτα του βασιλέως και εις τα ώτα πάντων των αρχόντων των παρεστώτων περί τον βασιλέα.
22 Nowe the King sate in the winter House, in the ninth moneth, and there was a fire burning before him.
Ο δε βασιλεύς εκάθητο εν τω οίκω τω χειμερινώ, εν τω εννάτω μηνί, και ήτο έμπροσθεν αυτού εστία καίουσα.
23 And when Iehudi had read three, or foure sides, hee cut it with the penknife and cast it into the fire, that was on the hearth vntil all the roule was consumed in the fire, that was on the hearth.
Και καθώς ο Ιουδεί ανεγίνωσκε τρεις και τέσσαρας σελίδας, εκείνος έκοπτεν αυτό διά του μαχαιριδίου του γραμματέως και έρριπτεν εις το πυρ το επί της εστίας, εωσού κατηναλώθη άπας ο τόμος εν τω πυρί τω επί της εστίας.
24 Yet they were not afraide, nor rent their garmets, neither the King, nor any of his seruants, that heard all these wordes.
Και δεν ετρόμαξαν ουδέ διέσχισαν τα ιμάτια αυτών ο βασιλεύς και πάντες οι δούλοι αυτού οι ακούσαντες πάντας τους λόγους τούτους.
25 Neuerthelesse, Elnathan, and Delaiah, and Gemariah had besought the King, that he would not burne ye roule: but he would not heare them.
Και ενώ, μάλιστα ο Ελναθάν και ο Δελαΐας και ο Γεμαρίας εμεσίτευον προς τον βασιλέα, να μη καύση τον τόμον, δεν ήκουσεν αυτούς.
26 But the King commanded Ierahmeel the sonne of Hammelech, and Seraiah the sonne of Azriel, and Shelemiah the sonne of Abdiel, to take Baruch the scribe, and Ieremiah the Prophet, but the Lord hid them.
Και προσέταξεν ο βασιλεύς τον Ιεραμεήλ τον υιόν του Αμμέλεχ και τον Σεραΐαν τον υιόν του Αζριήλ και τον Σελεμίαν τον υιόν του Αβδιήλ, να πιάσωσι τον Βαρούχ τον γραμματέα και τον Ιερεμίαν τον προφήτην· πλην ο Κύριος έκρυψεν αυτούς.
27 Then the word of the Lord came to Ieremiah (after that the King had burnt the roule and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Ieremiah) saying,
Και έγεινε λόγος Κυρίου προς τον Ιερεμίαν, αφού ο βασιλεύς κατέκαυσε τον τόμον και τους λόγους, τους οποίους έγραψεν ο Βαρούχ εκ στόματος του Ιερεμίου, λέγων,
28 Take thee againe another roule and write in it all ye former words that were in the first roule which Iehoiakim the King of Iudah hath burnt,
Λάβε πάλιν εις σεαυτόν άλλον τόμον και γράψον επ' αυτώ πάντας τους προτέρους λόγους, οίτινες ήσαν εν τω πρώτω τόμω, τον οποίον κατέκαυσεν Ιωακείμ ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα·
29 And thou shalt say to Iehoiakim King of Iudah, Thus saith the Lord, Thou hast burnt this roule, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, that the King of Babel shall certainly come and destroye this land, and shall take thence both man and beast?
και προς τον Ιωακείμ, τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, θέλεις ειπεί, Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Συ κατέκαυσας τον τόμον τούτον, λέγων, Διά τι έγραψας εν αυτώ, λέγων, Ο βασιλεύς της Βαβυλώνος θέλει ελθεί εξάπαντος και θέλει εξολοθρεύσει την γην ταύτην και κάμει να εκλείψη απ' αυτής άνθρωπος και κτήνος;
30 Therefore thus saith the Lord of Iehoiakim King of Iudah, Hee shall haue none to sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heate, and in the night to the frost.
Διά τούτο ούτω λέγει Κύριος περί του Ιωακείμ του βασιλέως του Ιούδα· δεν θέλει έχει καθήμενον επί του θρόνου του Δαβίδ· και το πτώμα αυτού θέλει εκριφθή την ημέραν εις το καύμα και την νύκτα εις τον παγετόν·
31 And I will visite him and his seede, and his seruants for their iniquitie, and I will bring vpon them, and vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and vpon the men of Iudah all the euil that I haue pronounced against them: but they would not heare.
και θέλω παιδεύσει αυτόν και το σπέρμα αυτού και τους δούλους αυτού διά την ανομίαν αυτών· και θέλω φέρει επ' αυτούς και επί τους κατοίκους της Ιερουσαλήμ και επί τους ανθρώπους του Ιούδα πάντα τα κακά, τα οποία ελάλησα προς αυτούς και δεν ήκουσαν.
32 Then tooke Ieremiah another roule, and gaue it Baruch the scribe the sonne of Neriah, which wrote therein at the mouth of Ieremiah all the wordes of the booke which Iehoiakim King of Iudah had burnt in the fire, and there were added besides them many like wordes.
Και έλαβεν ο Ιερεμίας άλλον τόμον και έδωκεν αυτόν εις τον Βαρούχ, τον υιόν του Νηρίου, τον γραμματέα, και έγραψεν εν αυτώ εκ στόματος του Ιερεμίου πάντας τους λόγους του βιβλίου, το οποίον κατέκαυσεν εν πυρί Ιωακείμ ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα· και έτι προσετέθησαν εις αυτούς πολλοί λόγοι παρόμοιοι.
